Chapter 701: 1. Ramastia
As Fisher trembled and held Elizabeth’s scarred hand, the surrounding tents and war flames seemed to transform into illusions, turning to ashes.
The Elizabeth, who had once been marred by Fisher’s retreat and cowardice, was finally grasped by him with his own hands—though she no longer resembled her past self, but was the person she was now.
Before Fisher, in a pitch-black void, Elizabeth, with blood in her eyes, lay unconscious in his arms; what he had just grasped was indeed the essence of Elizabeth.
“Elizabeth.”
At this moment, Elizabeth had completely lost consciousness. Fisher hurriedly placed her on his back, preparing to return to reality.
Yet, as he entered this place to pursue Elizabeth deeper, Fisher didn’t consider a critical question: Why, although he clearly had entered the realm of the authority of death, did he experience a strange manifestation of Elizabeth and scenes from their past?
What Fisher saw was clearly not an illusion, and this was beyond the abilities of the authority of death.
Carrying the light body of Elizabeth on his back, Fisher didn’t have time to ponder and could only exhaust his strength to run back the way he came.
At that moment, he was bleeding profusely, the scent of death creeping up on him like a curse, enveloping him tightly, dragging him down into the abyss behind him. However, with Elizabeth in his arms, how could he give up?
“Cough, cough.”
He gasped for breath, his head spinning, as he sprinted forward.
Behind him, the authority of death unleashed its unclean brilliance once again, and among that brilliance, a strange shimmer emerged, as deep and profound as the night-wrapped sea.
Then, he felt he heard Heow’s distorted and agonizing voice,
“Not the sea.”
He froze for a moment, and his scalp tingled with unease.
He seemed to realize why he saw those past scenes while chasing Elizabeth into the authority of death.
Those things were not the power of the authority of death; they were all the pain engraved within Elizabeth’s soul, the manifestations stirred by the authority of death inducing her thoughts of dying.
So, why would the pain of Elizabeth’s soul be manifested?
Fisher’s pupils narrowed slightly, blood from the wound on his forehead mixed with cold sweat flowing down, while behind him, Heow’s terrifying cries echoed through the space.
Heow had been found by the ocean.
The authority of Heya was shared with Heow, and Heow’s authority had been influenced by the ocean. Thus, at this moment, as Fisher pursued Elizabeth, he could feel the aura of the ocean’s authority, driven by its nature to unleash the most genuine pain and past traumas from within their souls.
“.”
Fisher said nothing, afraid to look back at what was happening, focusing solely on charging back with his head down, exerting all his strength to break free from the authority.
“You’ve always been there. You know everything I said.”
“Why?”
“How did you do it? No.”
“Ocean!!”
Heow’s strange sound, a resonance of the soul without words, was instantaneously ignited by pain, turning into an invisible shockwave that rushed towards Fisher amidst the shattering darkness.
“Cough!!”
Fisher’s magical circuits instantly lit up. Heow’s desperate struggle before the ocean seemed trivial, but for Fisher and Elizabeth before the authority of death, it was the very end!
“Ugh.”
Feeling Elizabeth’s body trembling against his back, Fisher anxiously glanced over at her bloody face, noticing that her magical circuits had also begun to glow, and blood was trickling from the corner of her mouth.
“Damn it.”
Fisher spat blood, and the authority of death made a loud noise. He quickly shifted Elizabeth from his back to the front and continued racing forward.
Almost there.
He was close to seeing the light.
Just a bit more.
“Ocean! Don’t you want him? I’ll destroy him!”
“No matter how great you are.”
“Even if I die, I won’t let you have him!!”
But just as Fisher was about to reach the light at the entrance, the authority of death suddenly erupted with even filthier yellow light, and the surrounding darkness liquefied immediately, turning into a colorful oil sludge from oxidized fungal growth surging towards Fisher and Elizabeth.
“Pfft!”
Fisher, already severely injured and burdened with an unconscious Elizabeth, faced the frenzied struggle of a deity at death’s door and was almost instantly engulfed by the sludge.
“Ugh!”
He merely felt a violent blow from behind and a piercing pain throughout his body. He yelled in fury, looking down at his own body, only to see countless fissures splitting across like shattered glass.
Am I… going to die?
Fisher’s eyes turned red, but he still prepared to run forward, though his legs had already turned to ashes, he suddenly collapsed into more sludge, losing the support beneath him.
Yet even so, he struggled to raise his hand, bearing Elizabeth’s body above the filthy sludge.
“Cough, cough.”
“Crack, crack, crack!”
Fisher’s body slowly turned to ashes, just as Erwind had unexpectedly vanished before him long ago.
Fisher felt the fear of death. His vision gradually blurred, yet he still aimed for the light ahead. He raised both hands, lifting Elizabeth, aiming toward that light, then took a deep breath, using the last of his strength to throw Elizabeth towards the exit of the crevice.
“Ahhhh!!”
At that moment in front of the Golden Palace, all the Nali people knelt and prayed, the blossoming law of death gradually stitching up Xu’s fissures, yet Valentina and Jasmine, tightly clasped in each other’s arms, still looked worriedly at the central dark crevice.
“Splash!”
And in the next moment, a bloodied female human was thrown up by a tremendous force—none other than the unconscious Elizabeth.
Valentina and Jasmine’s faces lit up with joy as they simultaneously sensed the weakening aura of the authority of death; Xu’s law was about to succeed, and the Nali’s citizens around them unknowingly began to show strands of white hair and their complexion dimmed considerably.
“Did it succeed?”
“Yes, Fisher succeeded.”
Valentina sighed with relief, but soon after, this suspended breath sharply tightened again, Jasmine’s smile froze, then slowly faded away.
Because while the aura of the authority of death had weakened and Xu’s law was nearing completion, the gap leading to the authority was also beginning to close.
But the question was, what about Fisher?!
Where was the Fisher who had entered the gap?
Both Jasmine and Valentina turned pale with worry, and Jasmine began to call for her father in her mind, hoping to seek assistance.
“Father, it seems Fisher has entered the rift leading to the authority of death, but he hasn’t come out yet. I must go in to save him!”
“.”
However, on the other end of her mind, there was dead silence, as though Gouwen had never communicated with her.
“Father?”
Jasmine was slightly stunned, but the death rift below was already closing. She exchanged glances with a similarly worried Valentina and simultaneously decided to dive in.
“Boom!”
With a loud explosion, the shadows of Valentina and Jasmine began to dive down. Just then, as they approached the rift, a terrible wave emanated from below the crevice, instantly blasting Valentina and Jasmine backward, slamming them onto the ground.
“Hiss.”
Valentina rolled several times on the ground and looked down at her body, only to find countless wounds covered with filthy sludge had emerged in an instant. On Jasmine’s side, she—
Valentina had just turned her head when she saw Jasmine unconscious on the ground, from her body flowing thick crimson mist.
“Jasmine?”
At that moment, within the death rift, Fisher, who had thrown Elizabeth out, finally breathed a sigh of relief. His legs had turned to ashes, and he gasped for breath, managing to focus on the dark surroundings before him. Suddenly, he snapped back to reality, tightly grabbing the warm hand resting on his chest.
“Who?”
Hadn’t he just been struggling in the rift of death? He had also witnessed the scene of Heow’s demise.
Elizabeth was sent out by him; he didn’t know her current state.
Where was he now?
As Fisher gripped that hand, it did not retreat; after a moment of silence, a dim glow illuminated the darkness, revealing the hand’s owner.
It was a young lady dressed in a black elegant nun’s robe, her beautiful golden hair entirely covered by a modest white headscarf. A pendant representing the Mother deity hung across her unevenly heaving chest.
“You.”
Fisher was momentarily stunned, and suddenly his expression trembled. Looking at the young nun who was smiling at him, he couldn’t help but dive forward, wrapping her in his arms, whispering in a quivering voice,
“Teresa, have I… died?”
Indeed, at this moment, the person who appeared before Fisher was the most familiar figure in his memory, his adoptive mother, Sister Teresa.
The woman in his arms was slightly taken aback; she smiled helplessly but still reached out to gently pat Fisher’s trembling back and softly spoke,
“So, in your eyes, I’m your mother.”
“?”
Fisher’s body stiffened, and he took an incredulous step back, still tightly gripping the shoulders of the “Sister Teresa” before him.
He had just escaped that maddening state, thinking he must have died, thus seeing Teresa’s form; perhaps this was paradise? To see the souls of loved ones after death?
But at that moment, after hearing the words of the person before him, he sensed something was off.
But upon taking a good look, the “Sister Teresa” before him matched his memories perfectly in appearance, tone of voice, and scent.
“You.”
Fisher’s face was one of disbelief, staring at the familiar features illuminated by the faint glow, hesitating for a while before hoarsely asking,
“Who exactly are you?”
The “Sister Teresa” in front of him smiled slightly and simply said,
“I thought you saw me as a water snake.”
“You.”
“Ah, yes, I am the creator of this world, the so-called ‘Main God.’”
Fisher trembled and released her shoulders, while the “Sister Teresa” before him maintained her warm, affectionate smile, gazing at Fisher as she proclaimed,
“I am the God of All Forms.”
“Ramasitia.”
