Chapter 2: Is It Fun to Bully Subordinates?
“Red alert! Coordinates AE-37, Rosemary’s magical reaction has disappeared!”
The ear-piercing alarm rang out in the crowded operations room.
“Send everyone who can move nearby over there. We must use our lives to bring Rosemary back!”
“What about Linglan and Siam? Are they still fighting those two magical beasts?”
Looking at the girl’s avatar on the massive map that had turned bright red, a woman in a sharp black suit slammed her fist down on the table, her face filled with irritation.
Almost simultaneously, magical power alarms erupted in three distant locations, forcing her to split the only three magical girls she had on hand and send them to three different places.
The result was that two magical girls were in a hard fight, and the other’s magical reaction had completely vanished.
“Director, Linglan and Siam lack combat experience. Engaging with intermediate-level magical beasts is already their limit… Rosemary’s combat power is the strongest among the three, and even she has been defeated. Linglan and Siam will probably…”
“Ugh… You stay here and continue monitoring, I will go there…” The director took a deep breath, reaching into her pocket and tightly gripping the cool gemstone inside.
What that person just said was correct; this crisis was beyond what Linglan and Siam could handle.
The only way now was for her to take the field personally.
Beep beep beep!
The shrill ringing once again echoed throughout the operations room.
“Report! A new magical reaction has appeared in the AE-37 area! Magical power intensity: Blooming Level… Magical data matched, it is… Bai Ye?!”
“What did you say?!”
…
A cold sweat dripped down Jiuye’s forehead as he watched the white magical girl walk slowly towards him, feeling like he had lost all courage just to stand firm.
Trembling, unable to stop shaking.
This magical girl is not right!
He had fought against magical girls numerous times, but this opponent was completely different.
Beneath that pure white exterior was an incredibly terrifying monster.
The white magical girl seemed to completely ignore him, slowly walking past him.
With tails raised high behind her, Jiuye stood frozen like a scared kitten. He wanted to stop the magical girl in front of him, but his body would not obey.
He could only watch helplessly as the white magical girl passed by, effortlessly shredding the gigantic cocoon created by the Dark Butterfly, saving the defeated magical girl.
From start to finish, the white magical girl never even glanced at him.
It wasn’t until she had transformed into white light, cradling Rosemary and leaving that Jiuye slowly knelt to the ground, covering his mouth as he began to gag.
“Who on earth is that person?”
…
A faint, elegant scent lingered in the air as Xia Mo stared blankly at the white magical girl holding her in her arms.
I was saved?
A soft thud reached her ears as the blinding white light blocking her vision gradually faded away, and she realized she was back in the city.
The white magical girl silently placed her down on a bench by the roadside and turned to leave.
“Wait…” Xia Mo instinctively reached out to stop her. In her extremely weak state, she should not have been able to grab hold of the girl trying to leave, but at that moment, she suddenly burst forth with an unimaginable speed.
Slap!
Her wrist was tightly held, and Luo Shuangyue’s heart tightened instantly.
Recognized?
No, the gap between the Dark Butterfly and Bai Ye is so vast, and there is an even wider gap between them and her own body. Xia Mo can’t possibly connect these three together.
“Who are you…?”
Hearing Xia Mo’s question, Luo Shuangyue breathed a sigh of relief; she hadn’t recognized her, thankfully.
But that was normal; who would have thought their savior was just the person who had recently dismantled the evil organization member?
Facing Xia Mo’s question, Luo Shuangyue had no intention of answering.
The name Bai Ye involved too many factors, and she didn’t want to pull Xia Mo into this terrifying vortex.
Shaking her head, Luo Shuangyue pried Xia Mo’s fingers from her wrist. “Goodbye.”
The white girl transformed into light and vanished, leaving Xia Mo lying alone on the bench, her fingertips seemingly still retaining the warmth of that person.
“Senior Bai Ye… is it you?” A name slowly escaped Xia Mo’s lips, and she could guarantee with her life that the magical girl who saved her was Bai Ye.
Just like ten years ago.
…
“Cough cough… Mom, your power has become quite strong, just borrowing it for a minute is almost breaking my body.”
Xia Mo naturally didn’t know that her longed-for magical girl senior was hiding in an alley a hundred meters away, leaning against the wall and coughing continuously.
This was her second reason for not wanting to use Bai Ye; she simply couldn’t control Bai Ye’s power.
If the transformation took too long or too much power was used, she would lose control of Bai Ye’s strength, turning herself into a beautiful and brilliant firework.
Not to mention dragging the entire Xinghai City into the chaos.
Fortunately, this time the issue was resolved in just a minute… However, Xia Mo could rest now; she still had things to do.
Taking out the butterfly wing hairpin again, Luo Shuangyue grasped it in both hands. “From the underworld, the Death Butterfly, please respond to my summons and grant me the powers of death and decay!”
Gray threads poured out from the void behind Luo Shuangyue, wrapping her in a large cocoon.
A second later, gray butterfly wings emerged from the cocoon, and the Dark Butterfly appeared in this world once again.
The deep gray lolita dress was adorned with countless butterfly patterns, and two longer ribbons floated behind the dress, forming a butterfly wing shape together with her split gray hair.
Beneath the hem, her feet in black stockings were not covered by anything, with only the translucent butterfly wings as decoration.
The Dark Butterfly, the Death Butterfly from the underworld, was true to its name.
“Ha…” Taking a deep breath, Luo Shuangyue opened her eyes.
While the Dark Butterfly’s power seemed not as strong as Bai Ye’s, this power truly belonged to her, though it was equally dangerous.
The power of death is a double-edged sword; it can be used to attack enemies, but it can also harm oneself.
However, for now, Luo Shuangyue could control this power.
“Now, it’s time to get down to business.”
