Chapter 67: Strange Person
“Are you Black Dragonfly?” Luo Shuangyue looked at the girl in front of her with a somewhat indescribable expression.
“Yes, Lord Dark Butterfly probably hasn’t seen me before,” Black Dragonfly nodded, casting her gaze toward Jiuye beside Luo Shuangyue. “But I often run into Jiuye.”
Jiuye immediately nodded, confirming Black Dragonfly’s identity.
Luo Shuangyue sighed inwardly; in some ways, it was indeed not surprising that Polar Night was considered an Evil Organization.
The Catgirl was something welcome and pleasant to see, and Jiuye looked pretty normal, but Black Dragonfly was different.
With just the code name, one could guess what kind of creature this girl was, right?
Compared to Jiuye, who had a human-animal ratio of about seventy-thirty, Black Dragonfly’s degree of animalization was much higher; she looked less and less human at first glance.
Although she still had a human shape, she had two pairs of transparent wings behind her, and her eyes were completely black. Upon closer inspection, one could see small compound eyes within the dark orbs.
It was clear at first glance that she was not human.
“My powers are quite weak; I’m not like Jiuye, who is good at fighting, so Lord Monise usually assigns reconnaissance tasks to me,” Black Dragonfly said somewhat shyly.
Luo Shuangyue thought to herself that with those eyes, she would definitely make a great detective.
“By the way, won’t you scare ordinary people in the zoo?” Luo Shuangyue asked curiously.
After all, with those strange eyes and wings, it was hard to think of her as a normal person. Even if the visitors weren’t scared off, wouldn’t the zoo security be alert?
In response to Luo Shuangyue’s doubts, Black Dragonfly mentioned that she did do some disguising; this bad person always entered the zoo from the surveillance blind spots, and after entering, she would wear sunglasses and a coat to cover up her abnormalities.
As long as she avoided the security a bit, she wouldn’t be detected as unusual.
“And besides, people who go to the zoo are there to see the animals, not to pay attention to the people around them,” Black Dragonfly said with a shrug.
There are people everywhere, but the creatures in the zoo are rare species.
While they were talking, the three had already reached the surveillance blind spot Black Dragonfly mentioned.
Black Dragonfly looked around, then skillfully put on her sunglasses and coat, elegantly leaping over several meters high walls.
“It looks like she has done this many times,” Jiuye said, scratching his nose, and imitating Black Dragonfly, he also climbed over the wall.
As for Luo Shuangyue, unlike her two little brothers, she simply walked through the air.
This display left both Jiuye and Black Dragonfly in awe; look at her elegance, truly deserving to be our Lord Dark Butterfly!
“We’ll head to the reptile area first. I have a good relationship with the keeper there; I can ask her about the situation,” Black Dragonfly said to Luo Shuangyue.
During the time spent investigating at the zoo, she had successfully built a relationship with the keeper of the reptile area; that lady was very skilled at dealing with snakes, so asking her about snake-related matters was a sure bet.
The Sealing Card of the Serpent King, of course, had something to do with snakes, Black Dragonfly concluded with the simplest reasoning.
Although it sounded a little unreliable, no one felt that Black Dragonfly’s thinking had any issues.
Even Luo Shuangyue thought what Black Dragonfly was doing was quite good.
When the three arrived at the place Black Dragonfly mentioned, the keeper was feeding several vividly colored large snakes some cut meat, and a strangely colored small snake was wrapped around her neck.
This little snake was like a rainbow, shimmering, clearly not normal.
“It’s obvious she has a lot of courage…” Luo Shuangyue’s mouth twitched; her bravery was unmatched. Looking at the snakes, one could tell from their colors that they were not to be trifled with, yet this keeper dared to interact closely with them without any protection.
She really didn’t know whether to commend her bravery or scold her for being reckless.
“Little Dragonfly, is that you?” As if she heard footsteps behind her, the keeper turned around to look in Luo Shuangyue’s direction.
Her eyes were golden, but there seemed to be a dark hue swirling within.
Golden eyes… Luo Shuangyue immediately became curious about this keeper. Among the people she had met, only her mother and sister had golden eyes, making this keeper the first non-blood relative with golden eyes she had encountered!
“Miss Ye Lin, these are the two friends I told you about earlier,” Black Dragonfly raised her hand to greet the keeper and introduced Luo Shuangyue and Jiuye to her.
Jiuye sounded pretty normal, so Black Dragonfly introduced him as such, while Luo Shuangyue, once again, was referred to as Miss Die.
Since Ye Lin had work to do, Luo Shuangyue and the others waited outside until she finished her feeding duties before they revealed their purpose.
After listening to Luo Shuangyue’s account, Ye Lin showed a thoughtful expression. She rubbed her chin, her eyes sparkling with what seemed to be confusion.
“Strange phenomena? The little snakes have indeed been a bit restless lately, but I’m not sure of the reason behind it.” After a long contemplation, Ye Lin shook her head, indicating that her knowledge was quite limited.
After all, she was just a small zookeeper and didn’t know the zoo that well.
“I usually don’t go to other areas, so I actually know very little.”
“No problem, then have there been any strange occurrences here lately, like black gas rising from the ground?” Luo Shuangyue continued to inquire.
This time, Ye Lin directly shook her head.
If there were really unusual occurrences like black gas rising from the ground, the zoo wouldn’t have needed Luo Shuangyue and the others to come and ask; they would have reported it long ago.
“I see…” Luo Shuangyue let out a slight sigh of disappointment; it seemed that valuable clues couldn’t be obtained from Ye Lin.
“Well, if I had to say, the lion and tiger area has been quite lively lately; Miss Die might want to check that out,” Ye Lin added with a smile.
The lion and tiger area? Luo Shuangyue nodded, having a lead was better than none.
“Thank you, Miss Ye Lin, for your help.”
“No need to thank me; you are Little Dragonfly’s friends,” Ye Lin replied with a somewhat shy smile.
She was a very nice girl, Luo Shuangyue thought to herself.
But she didn’t notice that after she left with Jiuye and Black Dragonfly, the smile on Ye Lin’s face gradually turned into worry.
As if she was afraid of something.
“There seems to be… that person’s scent on her…?”
