Chapter 104 Chapter 103 Chaos Battle
Green Dragon Cirius picked up the yellowed parchment and read the content:
“Ms. Cirius, hereafter referred to as Party B… Party A swears that after releasing Party B, she will not engage in any serious harmful evil acts (refer to the ‘Holy Contract Definitions’ 13th edition for specifics)… Party B shall assist Party A in locating the Demon King Kima’s treasury and provide necessary assistance, and shall not interfere with the treasury…”
“When attacking the enemy, Party B must not conduct cruelty such as brutal killings or sacrifices for hostile reasons… The range of violent actions must be discussed with Party A.”
Green Dragon Cirius’s expression was grim as she put down the parchment and asked:
“What is the contract definition?”
“This starts on page 16.” George took out a two-finger-thick book and said, “Though it wasn’t explicitly written, breaching it could still be considered a violation.”
Cirius opened the book and saw densely packed words. She counted the stipulations for what constitutes serious harmful evil acts and said:
“Four hundred fifty-one stipulations! You Holy Order really loves rules. The final interpretation lies in your divine hands; you might as well just behead me with one stroke.”
“I want to avoid regretting it if after I let you go, you turn around and destroy a village or plunder riches,” George said. “I would deeply regret it.”
“Human, do you want to restrain a true dragon?” Green Dragon Cirius retorted, “Even a foolish silver dragon cannot abide by all rules. Besides, if someone wants to kill me, am I not allowed to fight back?”
“Of course you are, the regulations state that self-defense is allowed,” George replied. “As long as you don’t provoke others intentionally, you can retaliate however you want, but it shouldn’t be excessive—for example, if you were robbed on the way, deciding to burn down the local village for revenge. However, I believe that with your identity, as long as you reveal your true form, no one would dare to touch you.”
“I don’t know how many traps are hidden in those words.” Green Dragon Cirius impatiently handed the book back to George, looking rather displeased after being suspected. “Your doubts are nearly blocking my path to goodness.”
“There’s nothing I can do about it.” George put the key away, “I can’t take risks.”
“Did you save the succubus and force her to sign the contract?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“Because I can watch her and prevent her from doing any bad things,” George said. “But I can’t stop a dragon.”
“Fine, fine, continue redeeming your succubus.” Green Dragon Cirius was very angry. “You will maintain the contract for the rest of your life; even if she’s bound by a slave contract, she’ll surely be delighted.”
Kima inexplicably felt a bit happy, hugging her arms as if watching a joke, her dog head held high.
“What a pity,” George said, “Thank you for accompanying me this far.”
With that, he pulled the rope, and a delighted Kima nearly fell.
“Keep leading the way,” George said.
“Yes, yes.”
Kima quickly replied, “Lord Water Bucket, this way, this way; the path is definitely correct.”
Ignoring the angry Green Dragon Cirius, Kima reflected the silhouette of the hunched dog-headed man in her emerald eyes, wishing to tear it apart and eat it. Kima respectfully shivered a few times and walked in front of George to continue leading the way.
After George and Kima had taken a few steps, a cold voice came from behind, Cirius asked, “Do you think that dog-headed man can lead you to the treasury?”
George did not answer, his feet did not stop as he splashed through a puddle.
Cirius continued, “You have lost the friendship of a true dragon.”
George replied:
“I admit that I am very pleased to have a beautiful memory during my adventure, but I can’t take that risk. Besides, before I came here, I never had the friendship of a true dragon, so it’s irrelevant whether I’ve lost it.”
Tsk, tsk, look at how much of a scoundrel he is. Eats the bait, spits out the hook, takes a free ride, and can still speak so justifiably.
Kima’s tail happily swayed back and forth, and she wasn’t worried her plan would fail.
Green Dragon Cirius is definitely not the type to give up her freedom just because her dignity was offended. She didn’t care about the dignity of a true dragon; Kima knew that Green Dragon Cirius was pretending to be a mortal mount, seeking opportunities to plunder all of a mortal’s fortune.
Her earlier behavior was merely bargaining.
Sure enough, after silently counting to fifty in her heart and with the silhouette of the green dragon behind her becoming vague, Green Dragon Cirius’s light voice came from behind: “I will sign the contract, but the content needs further discussion.”
In the end, the two bargained over the parchment. The distance between them was very close, and their elbows occasionally bumped into each other; George was enveloped in the fragrance of Green Dragon Cirius.
Before beauty, George exhibited amazing composure, making no concessions at all.
Kima thought to herself that in front of the long-legged beauty wrapped in only a few green leaves, exposing her abdomen and shoulders, she couldn’t remain as calm as George.
Indeed, what a virgin man who has maintained his purity since birth.
Kima scoffed internally.
In the end, the contract was modified. The serious harmful evil acts added a time limit.
Green Dragon Cirius said that she would be too weak after regaining her freedom to participate in fierce battles. Therefore, she would not necessarily help George in battle.
After the contract was signed.
Green Dragon Cirius nagged: “In battle, can I eat the enemies? This way, my wounds would heal faster.”
“I know that giant dragons can digest plants; theoretically, eating stones could also keep them alive.”
“You’re really harsh.”
George did not respond as he inserted the key into the metal platform’s lock and twisted it.
“Creak, creak.”
The metal ropes embedded in the green dragon’s body snapped one by one, and the whole maze trembled slightly. A smile appeared on Green Dragon Cirius’s face as she flew towards her dragon body and merged into it.
The dragon’s eyelids, which had been closed for who knows how many years, suddenly opened. Although this dragon was bony and its eye sockets were sunken, its eyes were still bright, exuding a faint glow, radiating supreme majesty. It raised its head, shedding grass and dirt, and opened its mouth to unleash a thunderous dragon language:
“Lhos~Ata!”
The last syllable thundered with a boom that shook the air. Kima felt her eardrums vibrating, and she covered her ears.
The moss and dirt on the dragon fell away, revealing shallow green scales with a metallic sheen.
The entire maze trembled; Kima’s tree walls collapsed, and she also heard the panicked cries of the dog-headed men in the distance.
The green dragon closed its eyes again, spat out another ear-piercing dragon language, and then spoke in human language. The voice was deep and resonant, with an unceremonious tone:
“Mortal, the maze is about to collapse; I cannot maintain it for long. We will both be expelled from this space. I will rest for a while; you shall take charge of the upcoming battle.”
As she spoke, she pressed her forelimbs to the ground, opened her mouth, and swallowed a handful of grass.
“Battle?”
Just as George finished his sentence, the white mist dissipated. Fifty meters away, a group of heavily armed soldiers appeared before the one man and dog. They noticed the silhouette of the green dragon and were momentarily stunned.
“The dragon has awakened!”
“How did they get through the magical barrier?”
Except for one man, who looked at the map and muttered to himself:
“Wait, we clearly marked everything on the way; according to the map, we should be very far from this dragon.”
Chamberlain slapped the map out of his hand and said, “Throw it away; this map is useless.”
“Impossible, didn’t the treant spend twenty years drawing this while being imprisoned here?”
That adventurer who barely made it back not only brought back the location of the maze’s exit but also a maze map. He said it was given to him by a beautiful and innocent treant. On the brink of death, the adventurer still remembered the treant and begged Chamberlain to free her from the seal resembling a green dragon in the maze, giving her freedom.
“Ha, a woman covered in green light with flowers in her hair—can you trust the map she gave? This isn’t a fairy tale.” Chamberlain scoffed. “I thought something was off; now I realize it’s a conspiracy; the enemy wants us dead. This maze is alive, and the enemy is altering it to wipe us out.”
With that, Chamberlain raised his blazing sword and shouted: “Soldiers! The enemy has schemed to kill us all; do you want a reward?”
“Yes!”
The soldiers replied.
“Do you want to return alive?”
“Yes!”
The soldiers shouted louder.
“When brave men meet on a narrow road, the victors shall prevail. I tell you, there is nothing to fear about dragons; when I was young, I faced a far more terrifying black dragon and still came back alive. And this is just a scrawny green dragon.”
Chamberlain stepped forward, lifting the blazing sword higher, his lone eye sweeping over the crowd. The previously frightened soldiers gained courage and stood tall.
“Put down the corpses; the survivors will bury the bodies later. Don’t let our brothers lie here rot in the wilderness.” Chamberlain turned his head to face the grazing green dragon and the bucket-helmed paladin, his sword sweeping down first as he charged, shouting: “Form two rows and follow me!”
“Yes!”
The soldiers stood in two rows, marching towards the green dragon and George in unison. In discipline, they were far superior to the musclebound men.
The sharp axes and spears scared Kima; at least that’s how she acted, frightened and howling. She turned to flee, pulling the rope taut, her feet slipping, howling:
“Human things, you want to kill me; let me go, hurry and let me go!”
“Just hide well.”
“Then cut the rope.”
“Don’t run.”
“Okay, I won’t run.”
“Liar.”
“Evil villain!” Kima shouted as she jumped, “I’m an innocent thing; you’ve kidnapped me and tied me up like a dog; you’re a robber, a robber, die! Die!”
Before Kima could finish her yell, the rope suddenly snapped. She fell into the puddle. However, her heart was filled with joy.
That virgin man really was foolish, actually trying to reason with a dog-headed man.
“I will keep an eye on her,” Green Dragon Cirius said without raising her head, continuing to graze.
George replied, “Thanks.”
Seeing that the dragon wasn’t looking at her, Kima tiptoed, wanting to run. But as she lifted her foot, the dragon’s tail swished past her eyes, crashing heavily onto the grass in front of her.
“Next time, die.”
Before Green Dragon Cirius finished speaking, suddenly a figure appeared next to her—the Shadow King Acanis, brandishing the Blade of Shadows, leaped towards her, aiming for her eye socket.
Green Dragon Cirius screeched and quickly looked up, shielding her face with a paw, while Shadow King Acanis pushed off the ground and scattered lime powder. The swishing dragon tail whipped towards the airborne Shadow King Acanis, but he suddenly vanished, appearing behind Kima.
He shouted to Kima: “Run!”
“I’ve been running, okay!”
The moment Shadow King Acanis appeared, Kima took off in a flash, not looking back.
“What I mean is, run faster.” With that, Shadow King Acanis shoved a potion bottle into Kima’s arms, and in a few steps, he overtook her, “Speed potion, one hundred gold!”
“You’re a swindler,” Kima shouted at his back.
“Enjoy being eaten by the dragon.”
Behind Kima came Green Dragon Cirius’s furious roar; she quickly drank the entire potion, fortunate that the magical potion worked instantly once consumed. Her speed increased significantly, nearly doubling, barely catching up with Shadow King Acanis.
In just over ten seconds, the two escaped over a hundred meters through the puddles.
Kima glanced back and was surprised to find that Green Dragon Cirius showed no sign of chasing. Perhaps it was a fortunate timing for Shadow King Acanis, occurring just as Chamberlain and his group charged.
Damn, a hundred gold wasted.
Her heart ached as she kept running, leaving the chaotic battle behind.
