Chapter 247 Chapter 244 After the War
Balsa’s beautiful head fell to the ground just like that, and Ji Ma watched in shock as the headless corpse collapsed. This marvelous and mature body lost its life, the heart stopped beating, turning into a pile of decaying flesh that would soon stink.
She felt immense pain, the image of the stunning female knight being punished in her mind was shattered by the cold, hard reality.
Ji Ma couldn’t help but exclaim, “George!”
“What is it?” George was poking the body of the Cain assassin with his sword, ensuring the opponent wasn’t feigning death.
Ji Ma clenched her fists and said to George, “How can you do this?”
“Why can’t I?” George replied. “There’s no rule stating you must take prisoners. Is there any doubt in eliminating evil?”
“There’s plenty of doubt!” Ji Ma couldn’t bear to look at Balsa’s head on the ground, growing increasingly sad. What a beautiful person, just like that, has died. Is there anything sadder than this in the world?
Ji Ma said, “She was willing to turn from darkness to light. Shouldn’t we at least give her a chance at redemption?”
“Evil must be eliminated.”
“And what about me?” Ji Ma pointed to her own nose. “Why don’t you just kill me?”
“You were just born back then, innocent.”
Ji Ma placed her hands on her hips. “Does that have anything to do with my cuteness?”
“That’s not important.” George put away the dreamcatcher and asked, “Why are you reacting so strongly, Ji Ma?”
“Strongly? If I weren’t afraid of losing to you, I’d want to hit you over the head,” Ji Ma said angrily. “Clearly, she was strong, and she was beautiful and mature, like a red rose. If you had just given her a chance for redemption, that red rose could have brought us a wave of fragrance, leading to a wonderful future, but you crushed the flower instead.”
Ji Ma continued, “Think about it. You could have signed a contract, letting her fulfill her promise. During the day, she fights for atonement, and at night even if she does nothing but sit there, she would be a beautiful sight. But you… sigh!”
“Ji Ma, I am very angry,” George said. “You actually say such things. You’re not secretly enamored with her body, are you?”
“What’s wrong with liking beautiful things?” Ji Ma thought. Since George already knew she liked women, she simply said, “If I were an ugly creature, would I still have survived under your sword?”
“Yes.”
“Then would we be together?”
“No.”
“Then isn’t that enough?” Ji Ma said. “Now you’ve just beheaded a beautiful experience.”
George said, “So, you want to forgive her out of desire.”
Ji Ma admitted directly, even trying to draw George into her reasoning: “Yes. What about you? Aren’t you a man? Didn’t you ever have any feelings for her? Admit it, there’s no harm in it, I can cover for you.”
“Ji Ma, I can’t imagine your depravity reaching this level,” George said coldly. “Being intimate with unfamiliar women, don’t you find it disgusting?”
Ji Ma shrugged nonchalantly. “Emotions are something that can be discussed.”
“I’m not like you, Ji Ma,” George said. “Don’t always impose your questionable values onto others without thought.”
Ji Ma raised her hands in surrender. “What can I do? I’m a succubus, after all. Hey! Why did you hit my butt?”
George didn’t respond and slapped the other butt cheek.
“That hurts! Are we not reasoning anymore, just going for physical violence?”
George replied honestly, “Because talking sense to you is useless.”
“Fine, fine, I get it, I was wrong.”
As Ji Ma rubbed her bottom, she complained, “If you could just take the initiative and smack Eve Frostleaf’s backside, she would definitely be thrilled. No matter what happens, she’d stick by you.”
“This is very complicated.”
“Whatever, I don’t want to talk about it anymore.” Ji Ma cast her eyes elsewhere and imitated George’s tone, “Anyway, I’m not like you.”
George sighed slightly, looking as if he had been beaten up by reality, despite his youth.
Ji Ma softened and asked, “Are you a bit disappointed? When you think about your future wife, who isn’t as beautiful and pure as you imagined, whose heart is darker than the black silk on her thighs?”
George looked at Ji Ma and said, “You really understand me well.”
“Hey, you brat. At this moment, you shouldn’t say anything like, ‘I was once disappointed,’ but think about it, where in the world is perfection? Ji Ma, you still have many merits. You’re a great cook, carry the palace with you, you’re open-minded in bed, and you fully support me marrying multiple wives. You’re beautiful and can fight; being able to marry you is truly a fortune I earned over ten lifetimes.”
George said, “Indeed, I’m very fortunate to be able to marry you.”
“That’s sincere, but anything you say carries sincerity.” Ji Ma waved her hand, indicating that George’s words were too lacking in romance. “Forget it; let’s get to business.”
George looked at the pit he had made while jumping and said, “I’m going to fill this pit; I can’t let the enemy easily discover my presence.”
“Fill what pit?” Ji Ma squatted by Balsa’s headless corpse to search her body. “The Mother of Beasts can divine. Hurry up and help search the corpse!”
“I knew it.”
“Search the corpses of the strong first. Strip the armor first, prioritizing those embedded with gems. Take the magical items first.” Ji Ma looked at the dead warlock with regret and said, “I won’t strip the leather socks; it’s a shame, as the women customers in Marin City liked them quite a bit.”
George tried to ignore Ji Ma’s words. Although he was internally resistant to searching the bodies urgently rather than making a tactical retreat, he still worked methodically.
He quickly rushed to the dark elf’s corpse, poking and lifting bodies in one swift motion. Soon enough, the bodies were neatly arranged in two rows, separated by gender—one for men, one for women.
Meanwhile, Ji Ma rapidly searched each body. This succubus, who had done minimal damage during the fight, happily said, “This is a huge profit for us! We’re amazing, let’s split the spoils evenly. George, let’s kiss!”
The two rows of corpses on the ground lay with unseeing eyes, looking at the couple as though they were dead fish at a fish market.
George waved his hand in refusal. “The atmosphere is not right.”
“Then forget it.” Ji Ma said, while she peeled off a sea dragon’s leather sock from a warlock and tossed it into the nearby entrance of the dream palace.
George sighed, “Ji Ma, let’s retreat.”
“What’s the rush? We need to carefully scavenge from this great victory; it’s the least we can do.” Ji Ma said confidently. “If you had good scavenging habits, after defeating the Demon King Kima, a thorough search would allow us to meet a year earlier.”
“To prevent surprises, your top priority is to survive, and second is to transport extraordinary materials.”
“Living a life on the run is oppressive; without feedback from the spoils, it’s hard to maintain an optimistic mood.”
As Ji Ma finished speaking, a bundle of wheat straw hanging from her waist began to smoke and burn.
“Ah! The Mother of Beasts is divining again; we must retreat immediately.” Ji Ma said, searching in her dimensional bag and pulling out bottle after bottle of potions. “Not this one, not this one, where did I put it?”
“Ji Ma, hurry up.” George looked at the shaking forest, “I think I see the Mother of Beasts.”
“Soon, soon.” Ji Ma finally found a glass bottle filled with pink liquid, tossed one to George, and kept one for herself. “Quick, pour it on the women’s corpses.”
George, puzzled, asked while pouring, “What are you trying to do?”
The pink liquid splashed onto the warlock’s skin, rapidly corroding the flesh, spreading dangerously as if threatening to turn the whole body into putrid liquid.
“The beastmen will eat the corpses.” Ji Ma poured the corpse-dissolving liquid over Balsa’s body. “Furthermore, it would be troublesome if the Mother of Beasts used the corpses of the strong for something.”
“Then why only handle the female corpses?”
“Eating beautiful women is quite disgusting.”
“I thought as much.”
And soon, the strong beastmen charged over.
The wilderness no longer had the figures of George and Ji Ma.
The Mother of Beasts, surrounded by her offspring, looked at the neatly arranged corpses on the ground, all valuable items had mysteriously vanished.
The scarred horned bull spoke in a deep voice, “This is a provocation against us.”
Although many beastmen were deeply dissatisfied with their dark elf allies, no one questioned the strength of these allies. Now they were dead, having perished among the hunting parties, while the succubus still had time to scavenge the spoils.
They had to accept the fact that what appeared to be helpless prey had the ability to hunt hunters themselves.
The Mother of Beasts opened her eyes and said, “This is George’s doing.”
“Isn’t he still in the sheepfold?” The sheepfold referred to Quinass City.
“It’s related to the extraordinary abilities of the succubus.” The Mother of Beasts turned around, looking at her surrounding offspring. “We need to re-evaluate our team composition, children.”
After some discussion, the hunting team became more redundant, and to prevent being bitten back by the succubus, they had to stay closer together, reducing their search range.
However, many beastmen, including the Mother of Beasts, still believed they could reclaim the Demon King’s extraordinary materials while also breaking into the human sheepfold known as “Quinass City” for a hearty meal.
…
…
At Le’an Port.
A ship with a golden holy grail sail slowly entered the harbor, bringing a touch of solace to the panicked crowd within.
“Great, just great.” The good-natured man stood by the window, like seeing a savior, saying to his tear-streaked wife, “The rumors are true; the new king is going to wage a chivalrous war, driving all those beastmen back to the forest.”
“My mother is still in Quinass City.”
“Don’t worry, dear. The king will save Quinass City and drive away the man-eating beasts.”
On the flagship of the fleet, King Richard I, who had returned after initiating the chivalrous war, shook his head as he looked at his fleet.
His army was too small, as the crusaders returned in several batches. Many knights who had returned from the crusade went back to their hometowns, and regrouping would take a lot of time. While regrouping, he simply couldn’t lead the army to relieve Quinass City.
“Your Majesty, a letter from the Holy Hall.”
King Richard I took the letter, opened it himself, and said, “May the goddess bless us; I hope their plan succeeds.”
The content of the letter was Ji Ma’s plan to bring the Demon King’s extraordinary materials to Le’an Port, thus attracting the beastmen’s army, indirectly relieving the siege on Quinass City.
But having already learned about the scale of the beastmen’s army, King Richard couldn’t help but worry. If the number of troops was insufficient, then Le’an Port would merely become the next Quinass City. He looked out the window at the land and said, “I hope the knights will fulfill their duties.”
