Chapter 49: The Brain Is Not Important To Me
Cheng Hong Ling darted out of the window, only to be horrified to find that the spiritual sense was extremely powerful. Even with her clone, its speed was astonishingly exaggerated, and in the blink of an eye, it had transformed into a black meteor streaking across the sky.
“Strange, why would such a master directly kill me instead of snatching my clone?”
A confused thought flashed through Cheng Hong Ling’s mind, but she also knew that this was not the time to investigate. She immediately used her full body-movement technique to pursue, and as for why she didn’t use her spiritual sense, it was because she knew the gap between them, and doing so would be completely futile.
At this moment, the friends and relatives in the house all rushed out. Although they knew they couldn’t help, they still did their best to chase in the direction Cheng Hong Ling had disappeared, because they understood what it would mean for the entire Hong Hua Sect if Qi Huang had an accident.
On the other side, Qi Huang was also anxious. She had to swap identities with her clone without anyone noticing, otherwise, once discovered by the main body, it would be impossible to even attempt to explain. Therefore, she used her spiritual sense without reservation to snatch the clone.
The result of this was that even though Cheng Hong Ling used all her strength to perform her body-movement technique, she could only watch her clone gradually drift away.
In just a moment, Qi Huang had rolled back that Tian Chongpo. She didn’t have time to marvel at her own resourcefulness and immediately began to change clothes.
In the blink of an eye, Qi Huang had taken off the clone’s clothes, put them on, and then recalled it into her Sea of Consciousness. Who knew how unwilling Tian Chongpo was during this process, but unfortunately, it couldn’t make any resistance.
After Qi Huang changed, and confirmed there were no major flaws on her body, she cast a strong spiritual sense shield on herself, then lay down under the nearby pine tree to feign death, patiently waiting for the main body to arrive.
Lying comfortably under the tree, Qi Huang felt fortunate to be so meticulous. When she came out, she had deliberately made Tian Chongpo’s makeup exactly like her own, otherwise, just changing clothes might not have been enough.
As for why she continued to feign death? The reason was simple: Qi Huang still had to wait for the people from the Juexian Cult to come to her. If she were to appear in the Hong Hua Sect jumping and alive right now, they would retreat, and because those guys had the “Eavesdropper” in hand, she had to play her part thoroughly behind the scenes.
“Damn it! You can’t guard against this thing. Pure Magic Treasures are not like spiritual senses that can be detected. You don’t know when someone is eavesdropping.”
Qi Huang lamented helplessly, truly envious and jealous, why didn’t she have such a good treasure?
“It seems I will have to find a way to get this treasure afterward. Its concealability is much stronger than spiritual sense.”
Qi Huang secretly calculated, her mind already harboring the idea of taking it for herself.
Of course, Qi Huang didn’t want it, she just wanted to weaken the strength of the Juexian Cult.
On the principle of “precaution is better than cure,” she still decided to play dead until the Juexian Cult people delivered themselves to her doorstep.
As expected, Cheng Hong Ling soon tracked to the vicinity. Because she had lost the target, she began to use her spiritual sense to search with all her might.
“Where is she? What if something happens to her?”
Cheng Hong Ling searched for a moment without any results, becoming utterly distraught. All she cared about now was Qi Huang’s safety, as if she had completely forgotten that something happening to her clone would implicate herself.
“No… I absolutely cannot give up.”
A moment later, Cheng Hong Ling calmed herself down and continued to use her spiritual sense to search the woods below inch by inch.
“Found her!”
Heaven helps those who help themselves. Not long after, Cheng Hong Ling found her clone under a pine tree. Although she was excited, she didn’t rush over immediately to be safe. Instead, she carefully scanned the surroundings with her spiritual sense.
“Strange! Why would that stranger forcefully snatch my clone and then inexplicably throw it halfway here? Is she deliberately playing with me?”
When she found no trace of anyone around, Cheng Hong Ling was utterly bewildered. Although she felt uneasy, she couldn’t care about that anymore and rushed down without hesitation.
When Qi Huang saw the main body charging over, she felt quite touched. She quickly sent a mind transmission: “I’m fine, don’t worry, and absolutely don’t speak!”
Cheng Hong Ling stumbled, and a look of surprise appeared on her face, but it was fleeting, as if it had never appeared.
“Are you alright?”
Cheng Hong Ling landed and asked with feigned calmness, naturally also using a mind transmission.
“I’m fine! Thank you for your concern.”
Qi Huang said sincerely. Although the main body was looking after that Tian Chongpo, she had seen all of her actions.
“It seems your unconsciousness really has nothing to do with not having a brain.”
Cheng Hong Ling speculated to herself.
“Wh-what not having a brain?”
Qi Huang was stunned for a moment, then immediately reacted. The main body was clearly referring to Tian Chongpo, so she quickly corrected herself: “Of course, I grew from a skin. I was born without a brain. Such a thing is dispensable to me. The reason I was unconscious was just due to the overuse of spiritual sense.”
“Born without a brain? You…”
Cheng Hong Ling wanted to mock her a bit, but the words stuck in her throat, and she couldn’t say them. Instead, a hint of guilt appeared on her pretty face: “I’m sorry!”
“Why are you suddenly apologizing to me? This makes me very uncomfortable!”
Qi Huang asked cautiously.
“I used to always scold you for speaking and acting without any brains, but who would have thought you really don’t have a brain! In this situation, with this little intelligence, you’ve really done your best. It’s all my fault as the main body for not fulfilling my responsibility.”
Cheng Hong Ling blamed herself.
“Ah?”
Qi Huang’s mouth twitched, and she almost jumped off the ground. What did she mean by “with this little intelligence, you’ve really done your best”?
‘Forget it, it’s fine if I don’t have a brain! At least I won’t be scolded anymore, and I can openly do what I want.’
Qi Huang comforted herself.
“By the way, where is that master who abducted you?”
Cheng Hong Ling changed the subject and looked around.
“After I suddenly attacked and injured her, she ran away.”
Qi Huang replied without thinking.
“Then why are you still lying here? And telling me not to make a sound?”
Cheng Hong Ling asked doubtfully.
“Because being captured this time has brought me an unexpected surprise.”
Qi Huang then recounted her encounter with the Juexian Cult cultists.
“The Juexian Cult again! These evil deviants are truly persistent.”
Cheng Hong Ling denounced them angrily.
“They are indeed persistent. If we don’t take this opportunity to heavily damage them, we probably won’t be able to sleep soundly in the future. That’s why I must continue to feign death so that those people will walk right into our trap.”
Qi Huang then gave her reason.
“But you must know that they can’t kill me, they can only try to target you. By doing this, you will put yourself in danger.”
Cheng Hong Ling reminded her with concern.
“It’s alright! My spiritual sense has already reached the Shentong Realm, how can they kill me?”
Qi Huang said confidently.
“Although your spiritual sense is strong, your actual cultivation level is still only Juling Realm. If you encounter an enemy who can use killing intent like last time, your weaknesses will be completely exposed. I’m not at ease.”
Cheng Hong Ling pondered for a moment and then suggested: “How about this, since we look exactly alike, let’s just swap identities while we’re at it, and swap back after this ordeal.”
“How about this, let’s wait until we figure out the enemy’s plan. Their main goal is to kill you, and while I may be in danger, you are not much better off.”
Qi Huang thought for a moment and then used a delaying tactic, because she knew arguing with the main body would lead nowhere.
Cheng Hong Ling felt that there was some sense to it, so she temporarily put aside the dispute.
Cheng Hong Ling then looked at Qi Huang a bit more, and only then did she fly back to the Hong Hua Sect with her on her back.
‘She actually carried me on her back instead of using spiritual sense!’
Qi Huang, smelling the refreshing faint fragrance, felt touched once again. The main body clearly knew she was fine now, yet still treated her so cautiously, like taking care of a daughter. It was truly a heartwarming moment.
“In this world, perhaps only I would receive such treatment.”
Qi Huang, thinking of the main body’s identity, felt a great sense of accomplishment.
“By the way, when we get home, please don’t tell anyone that I’m awake, and ask Elder Ruan and the others to leave. I’m afraid someone might discover that I’m feigning death.”
Qi Huang suddenly spoke. She made this request not for the grand scheme of things, but because she was afraid someone would discover her sudden possession of a brain, and she wouldn’t be able to explain it. She couldn’t possibly say that her brain was intermittent, could she?
“Didn’t you say you were good at acting? Are you scared?”
Cheng Hong Ling teased.
“Acting requires a performance fee! Who would act without a fee? That’s a technical job, you know!”
Qi Huang replied righteously.
