Chapter Forty-Five: Escape! (1/2)
It was already morning, and sunlight poured down, with fine dust particles scattering in the air.
“Qun Yi [〰 Two Zero Scattered [Tu Zero Cry Death Eight Call ~”
Su Jiu leaned against a rock, chewing on a lollipop. Listening to the crisp bone-cracking sounds from below, she slowly took out her phone and felt a bit panicked seeing the remaining 5% battery.
What should I do? This battery level is no longer enough to support me using the coordinate recall.
And…
She casually glanced down with her peripheral vision. There were several Purple-Maned Wild Lions, and the one tearing at the meat at the front was a Mutated Wild Lion with Flesh Wings and a ferocious expression. Its massive body, nearly ten meters long, was like a Transformer from a movie.
“General Level…”
Su Jiu knew just by looking at its size that she was no match for it, and it wouldn’t be easy to escape either.
Running in the sky would inevitably lead to being chased, and without reaching the Advanced Stage Warrior level, she wouldn’t have an Energy Shield. She was like a fragile Little Assassin in a game, with high attack but low defense, and would probably shatter after a few hits from a monster of this caliber.
“Roar!”
Suddenly, a slightly taller figure entered. The lion pack slowly raised their blood-red chins and surrounded the newcomer with roars, while the Giant Lion merely tilted its head slightly without making any other movements.
“Silver-Ranked Dragon Hunter, is someone coming to rescue me?”
Seeing the medal on the person’s chest, Su Jiu’s eyes lit up slightly, but the words that echoed through the canyon next moment made her heart sink to the bottom.
“A bunch of useless trash! Not only did you not find that person’s Beast Pet, but you also let them destroy all my Corpse Pasture Grass!”
A deep male voice, laced with anger, boomed out, making the entire valley seem to tremble.
Unknown what triggered it, the leading Giant Mutated Wild Lion suddenly raised its head, its claws carrying a trace of purple flame, and fiercely turned to pounce at the Dragon Hunter.
“Are you crazy? This is your master’s master’s mission!”
The middle-aged Dragon Hunter’s face changed drastically. He bowed and rolled, narrowly dodging the pounce. After getting up, he couldn’t care less, took out a shining metal Cross from his pocket, and shouted loudly.
The surrounding lion pack growled and turned to look at their leader, as if ready to tear this person to shreds at its command.
The Giant Wild Lion didn’t attack again but watched the Middle-aged Dragon Hunter with interest. Its lantern-like giant eyes revealed a hint of bloodlust, and it toyed with the Dragon Hunter like a plaything.
The Middle-aged Dragon Hunter, daring not to speak out of anger, was truly afraid that these Ancient God Sect beasts would kill him. He could only suppress his anger and say in a low voice, “If we can’t find that deer, neither of us will make it out alive. Your Priest is determined to get that Sword Technique.”
Seeing that the mutated lion didn’t react, he bowed and picked up the remains of the Corpse Pasture Grass on the ground, saying with a bitter expression, “Now that the grass is gone, even if you kill the intruder, it’s useless.”
“Sword Technique? Priest? Is it the Priest of the Ancient God Sect? Why would someone of that stature be looking for a Sword Technique? Isn’t the Ancient God Sect known as a small nation? They should have all sorts of Sword Techniques.”
Su Jiu’s eyes narrowed slightly. She dared not make any moves, her petite body pressed tightly against the rock. Silently watching the blue sky, she took the lollipop out of her mouth and quietly sucked on the last small bottle of egg liquid in her pocket to replenish her body’s energy.
“Even in novels, there’s no mention of any powerful Sword Techniques. Is it because the Male Protagonist, Bai Ming, uses a spear? Besides invincible skills like ‘Draw Sword Slash’, other Sword Techniques are basically rushed through.”
“Roar!”
The giant lion’s roar echoed through the clouds. Su Jiu felt the egg liquid in her hand shaking. Then, she saw the Lion extend a claw and gently tap in front of the Dragon Hunter, and a white light flickered above his head.
As the white light gradually faded, the Dragon Hunter stared blankly at the Giant Lion and asked in confusion, “You’re saying you didn’t do this? That it was other intruders who destroyed it recently? But…”
The Giant Lion pointed its claw at the crack on the ground, which was split by sword energy, and roared again. The Dragon Hunter looked there and saw that beside the crack, dark matter was still slowly corroding the flesh.
“Sword energy? The Dark Attribute Corrosive Material is still here?”
At this moment, he suddenly understood what had happened and shouted at the lion pack, “Find it for me! That Swordsman must still be nearby. My cultivation of Corpse Pasture Grass must not be known to others!”
The lions glanced at their leader. Seeing him give a low growl, they began to explore the surroundings. Some lions followed the scent, while a few seemed to have smelled something and started climbing towards Su Jiu’s location.
“Have I been discovered?”
Su Jiu lightly placed the empty egg liquid bottle down and drew her dagger again. Although she hadn’t slept after fighting all night, her spirit was even more taut now. Her small breathing rhythm became long and thin.
A Wild Plains Lion suddenly seemed to smell blood, growling excitedly and climbing even more vigorously. In no time, it arrived opposite the rock where Su Jiu was hiding.
They were less than three meters apart. It didn’t immediately roar to summon its companions but slowly approached. Before, students like her couldn’t even withstand one of its claw attacks.
This Wild Plains Lion completely regarded Su Jiu as one of those students.
Its mouth began to salivate, and it lowered its stance, approaching little by little. Compared to dead meat, fresh flesh and blood that was still warm was more to the appetite of a carnivorous monster.
Just as it lifted its leg, preparing to leap, the petite figure sprung forward, and a cold glint flickered as it struck!
The Wild Plains Lion’s blood “Puchi” gushed out. Su Jiu forcefully flung it down, then without a second thought, she spread her wings and flew towards the sky.
“Roar!” A giant lion’s roar echoed, it was the sound of the Giant Lion. It discovered that its subordinate had been killed by a human. It flapped its massive Flesh Wings, sending a strong gust of wind in all directions.
In an instant, it took to the air with the help of the wind, pressing the surrounding wild grass low.
The Dragon Hunter hurriedly used his wind-riding flight, chasing in the direction Su Jiu had fled. However, his speed simply couldn’t keep up with theirs, and he could only eat dust from behind.
“Chi!”
Su Jiu didn’t look back and unleashed two black slashes in the direction of the roar, using the momentum of the slashes to propel herself even further into the sky.
“Bang!”
The slashes struck the Giant Lion’s purple Energy Shield, releasing faint steam, seemingly having no effect on it, but instead further igniting its rage.
“Roar!”
The Giant Lion looked at Su Jiu, who was only a dozen body lengths ahead, and suddenly gathered energy in its mouth, a purple light subtly preparing to be unleashed.
Sensing the most powerful gust of wind she had ever heard in her life roaring past her ears, that bone-chilling coldness gave Su Jiu a strange sense of exhilaration. She lowered her head and looked towards the river below.
“I have to get rid of it. In the sky, it’s a General Level, and I can’t match its stamina.”
She slightly turned her head to look at the approaching colossus, seeing the purple light gathering in its mouth. A large black feather appeared in her hand, also subtly gathering energy, and black flames suddenly erupted from the feather.
“Feather Slash!”
