Chapter 253: No boss is easy to be
“Where… is this place?”
The piercing cold wind made the young girl’s black robe sway, but the black-clothed girl seemed oblivious to the surrounding temperature. She rubbed her eyes while looking at the scene before her in disbelief.
Had she transmigrated again?
She rubbed her eye sockets harder with her slender fingers, but apart from the temporary visual dizziness caused by the force, the scene before her remained unchanged.
The flow of death aura within her body was still the same, and the decay in the cold air was also as usual. Her control over the entire [Black Coffin] was as smooth as ever. Her clear head proved that everything she saw was not an illusion.
[Is… is this Lei’s doing?]
The young girl, having just emerged from a sweet pre-sleep chat with her boyfriend, regained some of her reason and began to ponder the possibility of changes in her territory. Based on his talent and the current environmental changes, it was highly likely to be him.
But…
This change was too outrageous!!!
Rubbing her head with a slight headache, the young girl skirted around the nearly two-meter-tall ice figures in front of her and stepped onto a clean path that had appeared out of nowhere. She walked towards the great graveyard in the center, which had already begun to take shape as a small city.
What is all this? Is this really just a game?
Walking on the smooth and flat road, Kazumi’s heart was likely filled with regret.
Actually, to be precise, the time from her boyfriend calling her, to them finishing their chat and bidding each other goodnight, and then to Kazumi tidying up her daily routine, was only a little over three hours.
And in these three hours, her previously barren territory had undergone earth-shattering changes. If her territory was an ancient small tribe before, now it was already a small town that had taken shape.
[But this change is too big and outrageous!!]
[And what are those ice people all over the ground??!]
[Are you sure you’re not the Lich King?]
The ice elementals bustling around carrying various things resolved the young girl’s first doubt. It was undoubtedly the work of the Lich Lei, and their actions were building up the entire territory.
But as one problem was solved, new ones arose. How could a newbie governor of green quality achieve such a terrifying level? Or had Kazumi always underestimated the power of her own system?
With a head full of questions and snowflakes, Kazumi, wearing a black robe, finally walked into the familiar yet unfamiliar graveyard hall. What entered her sight was the blue-robed Lich, holding a codex and standing properly beside the skeletal throne.
“My Lord!”
As if sensing Kazumi’s arrival, the Lich, with soul fire surging in its eyes, stopped its actions. The codex it was flipping through gently landed on its slender skeletal arm. Its pale skull lowered, and even the soul fire within its skull was suppressed to the lowest level as it offered an extremely sincere greeting to the young girl before it.
“Hmm, this… is all your doing? How’s the construction and planning going?”
Kazumi no longer had her previous questioning expression. After all, the person was here, so it was much quicker and more convenient to ask him directly than to guess on her own.
“Yes, my Lord.”
Lei first nodded seriously, answering the young girl’s question, then continued to flip through the codex in his hand and reported his work.
“The basic buildings have been slightly repositioned, increasing the efficiency of death aura condensation by about 1.5%. The initial plan for the city circle is complete, and the location for the wall construction has been selected. If materials are sufficient, it can be built within a week.”
“Basic materials in the production area are scarce. The utilization rate of [Graveyard Hill] is currently less than 10%. The [Corpse Crow Nest] has insufficient flesh and blood material supply, and the quality of troops is continuously declining.”
“The [Dark Altar] has a severe shortage of acolytes and urgently needs to be replenished. There are three days left until the next sacrifice.”
“The territory’s death aura output is currently negative, and territorial expansion has temporarily stagnated.”
“The method of refining death aura consumes a lot of energy and requires a dedicated refining facility.”
“Also, I hope you can grant me permission to utilize troops for construction. If the maggots and corpse crows can join the material transportation work, the overall efficiency can be increased by about 5%.”
“And…”
The Lich’s mouth did not move, but its cold, hoarse voice echoed one by one in the vast and cold hall, reaching Kazumi in the distance.
“Hmm, well done.”
Kazumi’s mouth twitched involuntarily. Seeing that Lei had no intention of stopping, she spoke first to interrupt his continued report.
So this is professionalism??
Kazumi recalled that at the time, she had only hastily instructed Lei for some simple guidelines because her boyfriend was looking for her urgently and she couldn’t take video calls in the [Black Coffin] space.
And then…
If she had come back any later, wouldn’t he have built the entire city for her already?
While telling him to stop the information overload, Kazumi recalled Lei’s previous report and replied.
“I understand the situation, and I can give you the authority to use troops, but… what’s with the negative death aura output and territorial expansion speed? And those ice people outside, is that your ability?”
Scratching her head with a hint of exasperation, the young girl opened the territory panel’s attributes, which finally allowed her to somewhat keep up with his pace, but the numbers on the panel didn’t seem as abnormal as Lei described.
“Yes, my Lord. They are simple elementals driven by death aura, but they can only perform simple tasks. If construction is needed, more high-quality souls are required, and soul fragments would be even better.”
“For the initial construction of the territory, I have slowed down the accumulation of death aura and territorial expansion. After the city construction is completed, the territory will resume its output and expansion speed.”
Lei flipped through the codex in his hand at lightning speed, as if with his permissions, seeing more information was a rather complicated matter.
“I see…”
Lei’s answer was quite satisfactory to Kazumi. Not only was his business capability outstanding, but his current approach of sacrificing daily output to increase short-term productivity made the young girl not regret choosing him as her governor. With this level of intelligence and ability, she felt that her Civilization-building skills, which couldn’t compete with the Monarch’s, were better left to professionals.
“Show me the overall plan, and give me detailed information about your abilities.”
Turning her head lightly, Kazumi now felt the same feeling as her supervisor in her previous life. She had to admit, having someone to boss around was a truly satisfying thing.
“Yes, my Lord.”
The cold, hoarse voice lowered slowly, and then she was handed a long leather scroll.
“Hmm, so fast?”
Somewhat surprised by his speed. Had Lei already prepared all this beforehand? And speculating on his superior’s psychology, isn’t that too much like a corporate slave?
With the doubt in her heart, Kazumi took the leather scroll, which felt a bit strange in her hands. However, the first line of text on the scroll made Kazumi, who had been somewhat expectant, freeze.
“Lei, what… is this?”
She stiffly turned her neck, and from the corner of her eye, the end of the scroll seemed to roll endlessly towards the outside of the hall, not even stopping as it unrolled.
“Territory construction material list, my Lord.”
“………”
