Chapter 158 Between the Dragon and the Girl
Verafia held her small hand gently, the soft firelight gently melting the frost that eroded her body as well as the wounds caused by the fragments of frost calamity, which gradually healed.
Ophi then raised her face, saw the rare anger on the face of the black-haired young man, and the priest and knights who bowed their heads guiltily behind the Silver Moon Elf. Her youthful face immediately showed confusion.
Irene walked up to her, her dress stained with many fragments of frost ice, which were traces left by the frost’s erosion when she used her magic to resist.
Walking beside the dragon girl, the Silver Moon Elf lowered her face slightly: “Miss Ophi, please forgive me. At that time, I didn’t know if you were safe, but, back then, I couldn’t let everyone be devoured by the frost…”
The latter half of the Silver Moon Elf’s sentence was left unsaid, but everyone knew what her choice was at the time.
“Eh… Irene didn’t do anything wrong. There’s nothing to apologize for.”
The frost-blue eyes, as brilliant and clear as gems, blinked in confusion, and the Ice Dragon Girl raised her head in bewilderment. Her slender eyelashes fluttered in the moonlight, and though her voice was slightly childish, she explained very seriously.
“At that time, Veer was injured, so she could only let me go first to resist. That was the most reasonable choice… Irene waited for me as much as she could, and besides, I wasn’t hurt, was I?”
Verafia still held her slender and exquisite small hand.
In her golden eyes, a faint magical radiance shone on the dragon girl’s magnificent dragon horns and beautiful face. She was translucent and pure, and her frost-blue gem-like big eyes appeared clear.
Holding her gently, although the girl was quite naturally clueless, she was also a considerate dragon. Of course, she knew that while she was resisting the frost calamity, although the priests and knights did not truly show it, they undoubtedly felt betrayed by her in their hearts.
However, in her heart, she truly felt that this was a matter of course and not something to be blamed, so she didn’t care at all.
“Little Fei… what an idiot.” Verafia raised her fingertip, stroking her delicate dragon horns and frost-blue beautiful hair. A soft, slender voice gently came from Verafia’s lips.
She was clearly the princess of the dragons, someone who should inspire fear and awe in everyone, but how could she be such a kind-hearted silly girl? Her heart always thought more of others than of herself… it wouldn’t be strange if this silly, foolish dragon were to be tricked into leaving, right?
She considered her a friend. Clearly, she had a close relationship with Ig, but fearing that her own petty self would be hurt, she actively kept her distance from that guy, and even rarely made intimate gestures.
Clearly, she was also very attached to her sister and family, but out of concern for them, she followed them to this icy place, doing her best to protect them all the way. At times, she was ignored as a third wheel without getting angry.
For some reason, a fine thread in her heart seemed to be gently touched, and a sentimental moistness tinged her golden eyes.
She quickly blinked her eyelashes, still lowering her face, as neither Ig nor anyone else should be able to see it.
Sentimental… is it because she wants to be a likable and kind girl like Little Fei? But I can’t do that. I have always been a selfish and petty woman…
The ripples in her heart swayed through her emotions. Or, perhaps it was… another premonition?
Ophi raised her face in confusion. The blonde girl gently holding her small hand showed a soft smile, and her delicate, jade-like slender fingers stroked her hair.
She remembered that this was an intimate interaction among human girls considered “girlfriends” after they became very good friends. However, Ophi always felt something slightly unusual.
Why did it feel like… Veer suddenly became sad, as if she was cherishing and reminiscing about something?
“But how is that possible! Clearly, Veer is doing very well now, and she got the Mistetinn’s Staff… Why would she suddenly become sad at this time?”
Ophi quickly shook her head, dispelling the unrealistic thought that suddenly popped into her mind.
However, after thinking for a long time and still not understanding, she simply imitated a scene from a storybook, grabbed the girl’s small hand, and puffed up her cheeks angrily, “Clearly, Veer is the idiot!”
The clear voices between the two girls dispelled much of the heavy atmosphere under the frost shroud.
“Veer.”
Ig gently took the girl’s small hand. The girl turned her small face and glared at him with her beautiful big golden eyes, half coquettishly and half reproachfully, “What’s wrong? Do you want to ask me about Little Fei?”
Ig originally thought the girl would then cry out something like “You don’t even care about your own girlfriend.” However, after a slight pause, Verafia blinked her big eyes and looked at him with her beautiful golden eyes.
Ig laughed dumbly. He thought that although this girl liked to deliberately act spoiled usually, she wasn’t truly a capricious young lady.
Moreover, Little Fei was also her friend. How could such a kind girl like her joke about her friend at this time?
From the girl’s cheerful voice, Ig could judge that Ophi was indeed fine. However, he still nodded and asked:
“Yes. After all, it was the law of frost calamity that erupted from Trist’s body, and Little Fei was so close to it…”
“If it were an ordinary person, they would have been frozen into ice long ago, and even I wouldn’t have been able to save them.”
Verafia clasped her slender hands, raised her porcelain-white delicate face, and hummed softly. “Only that idiot… relying on her as the royal blood of the dragon and having that kind of bloodline by chance.”
She turned her small face and looked at the lively and spirited Ice Dragon Girl who was happily shaking her slender dragon tail and running to the Wood Elf Girl, squatting down and playfully teasing the Niya girl. A soft smile gently brushed across her lips.
“So it’s fine. I just used the law to help her clear some traces of the frost calamity. This foolish dragon didn’t even have any serious injuries, only a slight depletion of her demonic power.”
Ig nodded. He also followed the girl’s gaze to the lively and spirited Ice Dragon Girl, feeling relieved.
“But, Veer just mentioned… Little Fei’s bloodline?”
The bloodline Verafia suddenly mentioned was certainly not referring to the girl’s royal blood as a dragon. In addition, Ophi’s father was the Black Flame Dragon King, while she was the Frost Dragon Princess… Ig remembered Verafia’s many hints.
“Ha, although I don’t know how that old black dragon Genhoa managed it. I’m still very surprised even now…”
Verafia gently rolled her beautiful golden eyes, smiling charmingly on her porcelain-snowy delicate face. She gently poked out her slender tongue again.
“Of course, I can’t help Little Fei much right now. That kind of inheritance… will have to wait until I become the Goddess Princess again.”
—
Suddenly, I really wanted to write about Veer pushing Little Fei down~ (not!)
By the way, if Ig and Little Fei fused, and then Veer pushed her down, would everyone accept such a plot…
(Actually, the foreshadowing planted in the second volume was planned to be written in the previous volume, but I was really rushing then… There wasn’t much opportunity in this volume either. If I really want to write it, I can only push it to the next volume.)
