Chapter 7 Sword of the Dark Elf
At that moment, a hurried footsteps sounded. Ig turned his head and saw a dwarf swordsman, who had been dispatched by Gavin for reconnaissance earlier, under the dim moonlight.
The dwarf swordsman rushed to them:
“Lord Gavin, Lord Ig, ahead, it seems to be an elf town. But it seems… a bit strange…”
Ig raised his eyes and listened to him explain the encounter.
“Desolate and empty… Not only are there no elves, but not even traces of dark elves? Did the dark elves take over here and abduct the town’s residents?”
Ophilia tilted her little face, blinking her eyes with some confusion, “But this dwarf gentleman said that he could feel a chilling atmosphere… Hmm, could it be that these dark elves retreated long ago and turned the entire town into a trap?”
“If the dark elves really took over here, they wouldn’t leave so easily.”
The wood elf girl’s clear voice suddenly rang out, denying it.
Ig turned his face. Ain gently patted Niya in her embrace, then raised her jade-green pupils and said seriously:
“This place is shrouded by the shadows of the dark moon, which means that on this land, at least for now, the power of the sacred tree is suppressed by the night… Moreover, although Nordoran Town is a town with a very long history, compared to the land, the spring is more important to us and those fallen ones.”
“Nordoran Spring?” Ig asked.
This was the second time Ain had mentioned this name. The previous time, the wood elf girl had directly referred to the spring to indicate this area.
“Yes, in legends, this is a place where the Goddess and Princess Elusia came together… It is said that in the past, Mother Siluslis sowed the dew from the sacred tree’s crown, and a sweet spring grew from it, and the moon goddess bestowed moonlight upon it.”
Ain lowered her head slightly, looking at the scattered dark moonlight, and said,
“This is one of the few springs under the sacred tree that flows with the power of the Moon Goddess. If those fallen ones really stole the power of the Moon Goddess and caused the tide of the dark moon, these dark elves would not give up… Even if they really had to leave, they would at least take this spring away.”
Ig pondered for a moment: “Miss Ain’s meaning is that since this place is still shrouded by the shadow of the dark moon, it either means that the dark elves do not intend to give up this spring; or they took advantage of the dark moon suppressing the power of the sacred tree and seized the Nordoran Spring… But the fact that it is still shrouded by the dark moon indicates that the battle is not far off?”
However, no matter which possibility it was, according to Ain, the dark elves would not easily give up this spring that flowed with the power of the Moon Goddess.
Ain nodded vigorously. She turned her head, as if looking at the misty outline of the town under the dark moon, her fair fingertips lightly gripping her long bow, and a hint of hesitation appeared in her emerald eyes.
The Silver Moon Elf walked up to them, gently raised her face, and requested, “Can we go and see?”
“This…”
The dwarf warrior Gavin hesitated.
His mission was not only to go to the elves’ sacred tree as a delegation from the dwarven kingdom, but he was also instructed by the King of Dwarves to protect the safety of Ig and others. And that town shrouded by the dark moon, not only from the reconnaissance reports but also from the conversation between Ain and Ig, the danger was obvious.
“Let’s go and take a look.”
Ig suddenly spoke, “The spatial gate we came from is not far from here. Even if there is danger, it must have been noticed long ago.”
He noticed the hesitation in Ain’s eyes, and it was clear that the wood elf girl was also worried. Moreover, it was a spring that contained the laws of the Moon Goddess and the Life Goddess…
His azure blue pupils narrowed slightly, and his fingers brushed against them.
Gavin was still hesitating.
Turning his gaze back, Ig smiled slightly and continued, “Senior Gavin, you don’t need to worry. With you among us, even if we encounter danger, we can still retreat completely.”
The warriors dispatched by King Mude of the Dwarves were the elite royal guards of the King of Dwarves. Besides Gavin, who was a Saint Rank, none of the other dozen warriors were below Star Rank. As for Ig and the other girls, only Ain was still at the Crystal Rank.
With such strength, even if they faced an army of dark elves, the outcome might be uncertain.
“Since brother Ig said so.”
The dwarf warrior remained silent for a long time, as if weighing the options. Finally, he looked up at the black-haired young man and nodded in agreement.
—
Ig and his companions were not far from the town mentioned by the dwarf swordsman. Besides the swordsman who returned to report, another shield warrior remained at the original location.
Looking up, they could see the outline of the town under the night. As the dwarf swordsman had said, the atmosphere was oppressive and heavy, with a chilling, unidentifiable aura solidified in the air, making the outline of the town under the dark night seem like a beast ready to devour people.
Ig’s gaze narrowed slightly, his palm touching the hilt of his sword, “End.”
“Ig…”
His arm was gently pulled. The dragon-clan girl with ice-blue long hair stood beside him, her slender hand tightly gripping the frost dragon spear, which condensed with frost demonic power. The crystal and brilliant demonic power glowed, and fine light scattered upon her delicate face, which looked a bit nervous.
Ophilia held his arm, her ice-blue pupils, as brilliant as frost gems, lifted slightly, “I always feel a fluctuation of demonic power. Do you feel it, Ig…”
This was something Ophilia had mentioned again. Ig moved his eyes. The elven town, close at hand, was shrouded in shadows, and not a single person could be seen, let alone traces of demonic power.
But Ig smiled and nodded, saying, “Little Fei is right. Indeed, there is a fluctuation of demonic power.”
“Then, Miss Ain, and the dwarf gentlemen…?”
Ophilia gently fluttered her wings and said with some confusion. In her sight, including Gavin and the others, their gazes were merely solemn.
“Perhaps, the traces of the dark moon have covered it up.”
Ig murmured. Even with his True Sight Eye, he felt it was very faint.
As for this wisp of demonic power…
The sound of flowing spring water reached his ears, as if reflecting the faint moonlight. Suddenly, Ig’s gaze sharply contracted, “Wait, be careful—”
Even before Gavin, a Saint Rank, could react.
Ig grabbed Ophilia’s arm and pulled her behind him. “End” trembled in his hand, and he drew it out, erupting with bright sword light that instantly filled the area.
Quiet and elegant, a gentle girlish laugh echoed between the sword light and the gaps in the night.
The shadow of a slender, thin sword pierced through. And behind it, illuminating dark skin as dark as the moon but with elegant lines, was a slender figure that seemed to have merged with the entire dark moon night.
A long sword thrust forward, and behind the sword shadow, there was a dark elf swordswoman!
