Chapter 84: Touch of Darkness (Part 1)
Darkness shrouded, the cold moonlight was chilling and biting.
The Dark Moon hanging at the top of the Sacred Tree not only moved the Dark Elf army to the edge of the Sacred Tree, but under its dark and silent moonlight, while amplifying the Dark Elf soldiers, it also weakened those who opposed it.
Even though the Sacred Tree bore most of the moonlight’s pressure, the impact on Lorinta, Ig, and others was by no means negligible.
“Swish!”
Half of the cold moonlight seemed to condense into frost on the End Sword Blade. Ig’s magic surged, and with a sword strike, he pierced through the Dark Elf soldier in front of him. At the same time, he raised his arm, and the gushing demon power shattered an arrow, causing the Dark Elf hunter who drew the bow to spit blood and retreat.
Ig raised his gaze to look around.
The Spring of Life was still only rippling slightly, clearly, the impact of the battle could not truly reach the spring behind the laws.
However, the shore of the spring, which was once like a fairyland, was now filled with broken corpses and blood. As a bloody battlefield, it had undoubtedly become a hell.
There was no room for mercy for either the Elves or the Dark Elves.
The space around the Sacred Spring was soaked in the laws of life day and night, and furthermore, the ancestors of the Elves had left their marks, possessing a spatial strength that was almost only possible in legendary sacred grounds, sturdy and impenetrable.
Even the full force of a Saint Rank expert could not break it.
However, in the midst of the battlefield, more than ten Saint Rank experts and countless Elf soldiers clashed with no regard for losses. The surrounding terrifying power was enough to destroy a city, yet the space around the Sacred Spring was still unbearably shattered, with dark and hideous cracks opening, containing a chilling destructive power.
The most dazzling presence on the entire battlefield was undoubtedly the legendary expert Beltnan. Despite his old and withered body, it contained infinite power.
Lines of Divine Arts of Life bloomed wantonly on the scepter, as if the descent of the Goddess of Life.
Beltnan freely displayed the power of a legendary expert. Even though six or seven Saint Rank Dark Elf experts surrounded and attacked him, the laws of life still regenerated like the Sacred Tree, piercing through the sky shrouded by the Dark Moon and killing enemies around him.
However, even with the presence of a legendary expert on the Elf side, and even the magical formations left by the ancestors over thousands of years, the Elf side was still at a disadvantage, and could only barely hold on.
The armies of the Dark Elves were endless, and although they were only a part of the attack on the Sacred Spring Town, they almost filled the not-so-wide space. Based on Ig’s estimation, their numbers were enough to reach hundreds, even thousands.
Most of the Dark Elf soldiers were at the Gold and Platinum levels, but the number of their Star and Saint Rank experts was even greater than on the Elf side. Their overwhelming numerical advantage was enough to offset the Elves’ advantages.
“And it’s not just Dark Elves…”
Ig tightened his grip on the sword hilt, and the End Sword, transformed from Rufina, trembled, resonating with his demon power.
The enemies in front of him, in addition to the Dark Elf soldiers, were also humans like Ig. Ig was no stranger to their power.
“Apostles of the Abyssal Church, and the magic warriors under the command of the Magic Monarch Fatter?”
Ig’s pupils flickered slightly, and suddenly the sword let out a cry. The sword Qi he raised cleaved through the ground, cutting off the sinister white bones that were about to launch a sneak attack.
A black-robed mage, draped in magic, cried out in agony in the distance. It was as if invisible sword Qi had scraped against his flesh, and in a short moment, he was torn to pieces and died.
Ig already knew that the Abyssal Church led by the “Saintess” Iris and the Magic Kingdom founded by “Mage” Fatter had colluded with the Dark Elves, who were also eroded by the Dark Moon.
Seeing the forces of the Abyss and Magic appear in the Dark Elf army, Ig was not surprised. But…
He turned his head and looked at the Spring of Life behind him. He could clearly feel Verafia, who was continuously absorbing Divine Power of Life and laws within the spring.
This situation was equally critical for the Dark Elves.
The life laws surrounding the Sacred Spring were enough to offset most of the impact of the battle, and a powerful divine art defense was erected around the spring water.
Ig was certain that not to mention a Saint Rank, even a legendary expert would not be able to break it in a short time.
However, if the Spring of Life were to fall, the amount of time would no longer have any meaning. Verafia, trapped within, would sooner or later fall into the hands of the Dark Elves… not to mention, the Dark Elves not only possessed legends but also the power of a deity.
Ig’s gaze swept over.
The Ice Dragon Girl’s beautifully curved skirt was dusted with translucent ice frost, which shimmered under the cold moon.
She had already drawn her spear blade, her ice-blue long hair fluttering. Although her face was slightly tender, she swung an icy light, fierce and beautiful, dazzling like a peerless Valkyrie.
The Silver Moon Elf picked up her staff and chanted spells. Even Ain, who was still just crystal, clung to her emerald green small bow with all her might, blocking the Dark Elves’ attacks along with Niya.
Even for Veer’s sake…
Ig pressed his palm forcefully onto the sword, and in the next moment, astounding sword Qi surged into the sky. Guimu and Zhongduan fell silent, passing through a sword Qi devoid of light, far darker and more desolate than the dark moonlit night. As the End Sword Blade was unleashed, it poured towards the enemies!
But suddenly, a dark sword Qi shot out and collided with Guimu’s sword Qi. The rebound force made Ig’s pupils shrink.
Not only was it the power of a Saint Rank expert, but the icy darkness and the particularly strange aura made Ig frown involuntarily.
“I found you…”
Although it was a melodious female voice, it was like sharp bone friction from spider tentacles, filled with resentment, sending chills down one’s spine.
Like a vengeful ghost crawling from underground, Ig’s body trembled involuntarily, and his skin broke out in goosebumps.
The Ice Dragon Girl, who had just stabbed an enemy in front of her and frozen them into ice with her spear, quickly drew her weapon.
She stood beside Ig, raised her face with effort, and her eyes gazed at the seemingly expanding darkness. Her exquisitely beautiful large eyes, like frost-blue gems, flickered with unconcealed fear.
“Wh-what is this… what monster is this!”
The aura of a Saint Rank expert rushed forward, filled with strange chill and resentment. What appeared before Ig and Ophi was a figure shrouded in darkness.
Her figure was tall and slender; she should have been a woman with an elegant posture.
However, twisted and protruding dark tentacles distorted her body, the lines of flesh churned and spread, becoming bloated and shapeless, like deformed masses of flesh, destroying her original beauty. Instead, she resembled a distorted, hideous, and strange demon ghost!
The only part of the woman’s body that maintained its original appearance was her dark brown pupils, which now stared at Ig and the Ice Dragon Girl with frost-blue long hair beside him with venom.
Ig’s azure pupils subtly flickered with the imprint of the “Truth” authority. His palm was merely placed on the End Sword, pouring in demon power ceaselessly. He suddenly took a deep breath.
“No, Little Fei… this person is that Dark Elf ranger, Ivansuta.”
