chapter 147 Choice
The End pierced into the surging abyss, the holy sword’s brilliant gold radiance erupted, cutting through the surging black light around it, but in an instant, it was swallowed by the rushing waves.
Ig pulled out his sword and fiercely collided with the falling black greatsword. His arm trembled, and the tremendous roar of their blades clashing was completely drowned out. The sky then collapsed and turned into nothingness. The cracks in the earth spread to his feet, and his body was uncontrollably pushed back.
Along with that came unbearable pain. The bones of his entire body felt like they were ground into dust by darkness, and even moving a finger was incredibly difficult.
Ig laboriously raised his head. The earth was destroyed by the approaching darkness. Hodrea flipped his hand and brought down the dark greatsword, its cold light rippling and carrying the fluctuations of death.
However… just as Ig had said earlier, the swordsman before him, his target, was not Verafia, but himself. Verafia should go and receive the inheritance she needed—
The collapsing earth halted here.
In Verafia’s golden eyes, the black-haired youth forcibly stopped his recoiling body. On his black-robed, surging form, demonic power was released again, resisting before the darkness. He raised his sword again, preparing to meet Hodrea who was approaching him.
Obviously, Ig had already made up his mind, using his sword to defend the last line of defense against the darkness.
“This idiot… does he underestimate this young lady that much?”
Hodrea swung his sword, and the endless abyss covered the darkness. The surging demonic power shattered space, and the transmitted fluctuations shook the golden flame tightly grasped in her slender hand, also shattering Verafia’s golden gaze.
She understood the youth’s meaning. The Hodrea before them was the so-called Abyss Swordsman from legends. Even if they combined their strength, they might not be able to win, let alone with Zorgia behind them… With Ig blocking Hodrea, she would go find the Life Goddess. This was of course the rational choice.
In Verafia’s judgment, this was also the only feasible possibility.
But, didn’t this mean she was abandoning Ig?
The blazing flame in her slender hand trembled, and she bit her thin lips, unable to bear to look. But before her, Ig swung his sword to block the rushing darkness. In an instant, the End and the Falan Greatsword let out startling cries, as if urging her to make a decision.
Ig was completely at a disadvantage, but…
Verafia grit her silver teeth and turned the blazing flame in her hand into a sword edge, slashing it heavily.
“Idiot, don’t you dare die before I come back!”
A line of brilliant gold blazing flame thrust out, burning upon the pitch blackness, tearing through the darkness that shrouded half the sky. Hodrea, who was pushing Ig back, blocked with his sword in a backhand motion. The golden flame shattered into powder.
“You still chose the so-called gods, which are destined to rot?”
Hodrea shook his head, saying with disappointment. He saw the slender figure of the girl spreading her wings and soaring, her palm extending, the abyss’s fluctuations surging with it, shaking the entire sky, intending to envelop the girl’s figure.
But at the same instant, a verdant light tore through the sky, turning into an arrow and falling. It rippled across the darkness, causing Hodrea’s demonic power to abruptly stall. The next moment, magnificent sword qi ignited on Ig’s End, slicing down.
The sword qi was like a reversed starry river, its stunning light even momentarily obscuring the abyss’s color. Looking up again, Verafia and Fuya were already gone. A spear blade condensed from ice suddenly stabbed down, colliding with the greatsword Hodrea was using to block. The world instantly froze over, pushing him back several steps.
Ig tightly grasped the slightly trembling End. A clear light brushed across the sword edge. He forcefully raised his head and saw that Verafia had already disappeared. The expression on his face relaxed considerably.
He raised his head. Before him was not the dead silent pitch blackness as before. Transparent and gorgeous blue ice crystals also condensed, resisting the encroaching abyss.
Gorgeous ice frost flowers continuously condensed in the darkness. Even though they shattered in the surging abyss, they did not erode.
The color of the cold ice was also not unfamiliar… this was Ophiuchus’s power. Clearly, this ice frost domain was the result of Verafia’s sword strike that severed Hodrea’s abyss domain. Ophiuchus seized the opportunity to release it, condensing a domain to temporarily resist before the abyss surged again.
“Ig, are you okay!”
At this moment, a clear, moist, and concerned maiden’s voice came. The Ice Dragon Girl stood in the distance, holding a gorgeous ice spear in one hand. Freezing mist continuously spread from her, blooming in mid-air, so much so that even the surging darkness could not cross it even a little.
Ig looked up at her, one hand on his sword, and asked, “Little Fei, why are you…”
As he thought, Ophiuchus should have been by Verafia’s side, not staying here.
“Little Fuya is fine by Veer’s side. I can’t become a goddess.”
The Ice Dragon Girl lightly flicked her slender fingers through her smooth ice-blue hair. Her sparkling big eyes gazed at the youth’s face. Her still somewhat tender and beautiful face smiled proudly, sticking out her tongue slightly, and curving her sapphire-like pupils:
“So, it’s better to be by Ig’s side. Whether it’s this swordsman or that dark elf, Ig alone will definitely be in danger… Veer has reasons she must leave, so it should be me to help her protect Ig.”
“I don’t want to see Veer become a sad little widow right after she became a goddess.”
Ophiuchus’s voice was crisp, and after speaking, she even let out a chuckle.
Ig was stunned for a moment, thinking that it was fortunate Vera was not here. If that girl heard Little Fei joking about her, she would definitely stomp her feet angrily, and her entire golden hair would stand on end.
But, the danger that Little Fei spoke of…
Before them was not just the abyss, but traces of cold moonlight were also approaching… Even though Ophiuchus was now the incarnation of a water spirit, and existed as a sacred domain, by his side, wasn’t she also in the same danger?
Ophiuchus, however, still stood before him with her spear.
The surging emotions in his heart were not spoken. Ig tightened his grip on the End, and could only say: “Thank you, Little Fei.”
Just then, the sound of the crisp ice mist shattering with “kaka” could be heard. Continuous ice crystals froze, precipitating black crystals in the sky, which fell to the ground and turned into powder.
Even the immortal giant trees, myriad spaces, branches, and vines on the earth had long been annihilated in the previous battle. However, the black tide seemed substantial, continuously spreading, and from it emerged the figure of the dark swordsman.
The black robe blew silently, revealing battered armor. Hodrea held the Falan Greatsword, shaped like a wolf’s head, in one hand, and another pitch-black greatsword, like a heavy dark mountain range, appeared in his right hand once more.

Well, Veer and Ig both have their different things (so they will be separated in chapters).
I originally wanted to write Vera’s perspective in the next chapter, but Ig and Little Fei still have a few words left to say. I estimate that I’ll need another half chapter to write them (sadness).
PS: I originally planned to finish this volume this month, but it feels a bit difficult… (I’ll try my best).

I Was The Hero, But I Woke Up as a Phoenix Princess?!
身为勇者的我竟然成了凤凰大小姐
From the travel diaries of a Phoenix Princess reborn from the inferno, chronicling her life on the road with a supposedly “useless” young hero…
On their journey, their fellowship continues to grow: a Dragon Princess of silver frost, a young Vampire Princess with eyes of blood-crimson, the Saintess of Radiant Holy Light, the noble Princess of the White Iris…
“Hmm?” Verafia paused, tilting her head as she gracefully twirled a soft strand of her fiery hair around a finger. A hint of suspicion flickered in her beautiful eyes. “Ignet, why does this sound suspiciously like you’re assembling a harem?”
“My lady, there is a saying: ‘The fish is what I desire, and the bear’s paw is also what I desire.’ A wise man knows that if he can have them both, his home will be harmonious and all his affairs will prosper,” he began, puffing out his chest with the air of a profound philosopher. “Is that not a truly beautiful thing? A… a paragon of peaceful coexistence?”
He faltered under her smoldering gaze.
“…Ahhh! It was a joke! I’m sorry, Milady, please don’t burn me! I swear my only desire is you!”
