Chapter 24 Escape
Hearing the girl’s voice, Clement laughed wildly. Within his seemingly frail body, an ocean of light surged, like countless inverted light swords rising, dazzlingly brilliant and radiant!
What arrived at Arno Kolon was not Moon’s true form, but only a strand of will carrying the light. However, Sariel had already revived the light, and after this fallen angel’s demise, it was all mobilized into Clement’s hands.
With just a ripple of light, substantial golden light condensed, forming a holy sword of golden radiance within a domain of light. It was magnificent and sacred, exuding infinite divine might. The edge of the colossal sword, as the light cascaded down, plunged towards Verafia’s form!
Merely the divine might of the holy sword suppressed the hearts and minds of Igdet and the others, their bodies’ demonic power becoming sluggish. This was the pressure of condensed holy law. Even Sariel, a being of immortality, could not easily withstand such magnificent holy light before facing Verafia!
However, upon seeing the surging, spectacular light, Verafia raised her golden eyes. A few strands of delicate hair were touched by the dawn’s light, and her delicate lips curved upwards.
The holy sword condensed from light fiercely struck down. Suddenly, within the sea of domains condensed from countless holy laws, a trace of emerald light emerged. The golden holy sword, bearing the entire holy law as it fell, let out a tremor, and fine cracks appeared on its blade, from which emerald light emanated.
“This is—” Clement’s eyes widened in surprise. Within the ocean of light, a green sapling grew. Nourished by the dense divine light of life, it transformed into a colossal tree of life, its dense branches and leaves almost obscuring the light.
Each branch and leaf of the colossal tree of life was a condensation of the law of life, like countless divine swords of life. In an instant, with flashes of brilliance, the ocean of infinite light withered and broke!
The shattered fragments of light were overwhelmed by strands of life’s light rays, falling like shattered golden radiance onto the goddess’s skirt hem.
In the sky, Verafia lightly touched a drifting leaf of the tree of life. Instantly, divine radiance flickered. Her slender, jade-like fingers grasped Mistetinn’s Staff. With a slight shift of her delicate feet, she traversed the traces of space, arriving directly before Clement and thrusting her sword forward.
The boundless light shattered like a mirror. The girl’s jade sword lightly tapped, and the divine sword of life flowed with dazzling divine radiance, piercing the priest’s chest without obstruction!
Instantly, the surging light froze, and a long-lost silence enveloped the area. The divine sword of life had shredded the priest’s heart. His lowered gaze followed the sword blade that had pierced through him.
The power of a deity, even a sacred domain, or even legends, could not escape annihilation, whether in body or soul. However, Clement’s body was still before them.
This was, of course, not difficult to understand. Although this was not Moon’s true form, it also possessed the boundless authority within the fragments of light. Even when pierced by the divine sword of life, the power of light still sustained his life.
Even suffering the pain of a shattered heart and annihilated soul, Clement’s lowered face was covered by a thin layer of light, yet no expression was visible. Gazing at the divine sword of life thrust by the goddess, Clement struggled to raise his head and look at Verafia’s flawless, fair face, and then suddenly smiled:
“No wonder Sariel said you were holding back. Goddess Princess… this sword, is it the World Tree you used to defeat the Moon Goddess and sow seeds for the elves back then.”
“Eh, you know quite a bit? Moon, have you been paying attention to this young lady these past few months?”
Verafia slightly lifted her head, her golden eyes gazing at the priest who was coughing blood and smiling. A hint of surprise showed on her pristine, beautiful little face. “You’re slightly mistaken. This sword is only transformed from a strand of the World Tree’s branches.”
Before leaving the World Tree, Verafia had plucked a strand of its life-giving branches and leaves to accompany her on her journey as her weapon.
On one hand, Verafia felt that the World Tree had already taken root, and to easily remove it would cause unrest among the elves. On the other hand, even a blade transformed from a branch of the tree of life could possess seventy percent of Mistetinn’s Staff’s power, which, at least in Verafia’s opinion, was more than enough.
And earlier, when facing Sariel, Verafia had only fought this immortal powerhouse with a blade condensed from the divine power of life. The Mistetinn’s Staff, transformed from the World Tree’s branches, was treated by her as a seed, sown in advance within the light.
Such an approach was, of course, a scheme to deal with the suddenly appearing Clement.
She had long sensed that this priest Clement was somewhat off. How could she not prepare for his betrayal in advance?
The emerald light rays in the light twinkled and shimmered. Verafia lightly lifted her little face, her delicate lips curling up, sketching a smug arc.
“I see.”
Clement’s face still showed no expression. He suddenly let out a low chuckle, “Just a branch and leaves possess such immense power. Goddess Princess, it seems I have underestimated you.”
“Alright. Moon, now, do you have anything else you want to say? Perhaps this young lady might be interested in answering some of it for you!”
Her jade-like fair face was coquettishly lifted. Verafia blinked her big eyes, gazing at Clement, who was pierced by the jade divine sword, and said cheerfully.
She naturally wasn’t worried about Clement having any more tricks.
The divine sword formed by Mistetinn had not only shattered the priest’s heart but had also pinned his soul here. Although the continuous flow of holy light power sustained his life, even if Moon’s true form were here, he absolutely couldn’t escape her grasp!
Yes, following Clement here was indeed a case of each taking what they needed… but who said she couldn’t take twice?
Verafia’s expression grew more smug, her mind calculating how to humiliate this detestable old acquaintance. But suddenly, a hint of surprise flickered in her golden eyes.
Priest Clement was still smiling faintly, but the body pierced by the divine sword of life suddenly began to burn with the fire of light.
The girl was startled. The divine power of life surged into him, but she couldn’t extinguish the holy law burning within him in the slightest!
“Moon, you guy!”
Seeing the suddenly ignited light, the girl said anxiously, gritting her silver teeth, and became furious.
Although she completely didn’t understand why the holy light power, which was still thoroughly suppressed, was doing this, from this priest’s actions, she couldn’t help but realize that Moon intended to completely incinerate this body to escape the suppression of the law of life!
Alas, in an instant, the body pierced by the divine power of life burned to ashes within the light. A wisp of black mist rolled up, carrying infinite light, and fled.
Verafia’s almond eyes narrowed. Her jade-like slender fingers pulled out the divine sword in her hand. The magnificent divine power of life coiled around the blade, and a brilliant sword light, almost tearing apart the entire sky, slashed out, severing the escaping light and shattering it under the sweeping sword qi!
However, even though the sword light was gorgeous and even the laws of light couldn’t bear it, in the shattered sky, a trace of insignificant black mist escaped.
“Miss Verafia, you are indeed a powerful deity… Unfortunately, you cannot kill me. Goddess Princess, I’ll see you again in the City of Holy Light!”
