Chapter 36 The Goddess’s Gift
Seeing the fleeting dimness in the girl’s eyes, Igte’s heart stirred. He gently tightened his grip on her soft hand, lowered his head to look at the girl’s gem-like beautiful eyes, and gently reached out to caress the beautiful golden strands of hair that fell on the girl’s cheeks.
“I don’t want to be happy with Veer only today. When we defeat Moon and the others, no one will bother us anymore.”
“Is that so…”
Verafia’s lips curved slightly, and a sudden, moving smile graced her delicate face. She waved her small hand, breaking free from his grasp, and ran to the glass on the other side. Then, she turned her head, her snow-white face tilted up, and her beautiful big golden eyes revealed a playful look:
“Hmph, this young lady isn’t sad. Besides, what’s there to care about just being with you, this guy… However, if you want this young lady to become your bride, Igte, you’ll have to work harder!”
The corners of the young girl’s mouth turned up slightly, her flawless delicate face faintly tinted by the afterglow of twilight. Between the stillness and softness, a dazzling beauty flowed.
Igte smiled, walked closer to the girl again, took her small hand, and held her delicate waist that was easy to grasp, letting the girl’s delicate body lean gently into his embrace.
“You guy!”
Verafia glared at him with shame and anger, but she didn’t struggle hard. Instead, she leaned her head slightly against his shoulder, her raised golden eyes watching the twilight, which was also lowering with the descent of the Ferris wheel.
Until the first hint of night touched the sky again, Verafia, holding Igte’s hand, lightly jumped off their seat and returned to the ground.
The traces of night silently spread, but for the prosperous great city of Arnoalkolon, the twilight of day did not mean the end of a day.
At least, Verafia could still drag Igte to a beautifully decorated tavern in a prosperous street district and order a cup of iced fruit juice.
“Alright, you’ve accompanied this young lady all day, so we should be going back.”
Verafia held the juice in her hands, her snow-white face tilted up, looking at Igte, who was smiling beside her. The exquisite eyelashes on her big eyes suddenly blinked charmingly:
“Well, we can’t let anyone see that a Knight Commander, a war hero, is just accompanying a girl on a shopping trip.”
“And first of all, we can’t let anyone know that you are the Goddess they admire,” Igte chuckled and rubbed her little head.
Verafia pursed her lips, her big eyes widened, about to say something. Suddenly, her eyelashes moved, and she couldn’t help but turn her head to look at the sky on the side.
She sensed a strong fluctuation of magic, the traces of hundreds of thousands of magical warships and tens of thousands of high-level mages.
“It’s probably the allied forces of the Empire, along with Empress Lafulnos and the Elf army brought by Lord Seralis.”
Igte said. He suddenly noticed the girl’s slightly surprised expression and couldn’t help but say with a smile, “By the way, Duke Robert wanted me to inform you today. But Veer, as the Goddess of Life, don’t you know?”
“Ngh. Who, who doesn’t know! This young lady is just testing you!”
Verafia’s small face flushed, and she forced herself to say. She couldn’t possibly say that her divine sense as the Goddess of Life had been mostly used to stabilize the hundred thousand residents of Arnoalkolon during these days, which was why she hadn’t noticed.
Seeing Igte’s still-smiling face, Verafia felt a surge of anxiety and was racking her brains for an explanation. Suddenly, her little head turned, and a surprise appeared in her beautiful golden eyes:
“Eh, is that Irene?”
What appeared in her eyes was a tall young girl. Her silver-white hair, like pure silk, fell over her swan-like beautiful neck. Her delicate skin was as dim as the dark night, yet it couldn’t conceal her purity. What appeared before Verafia was a dark elf girl in a black long dress, and it was not difficult to recognize her as Irene, the “Daughter of Zorgia” and the incarnation of moonlight.
What slightly puzzled Verafia were the two elf girls beside Irene. Beneath their delicate hair, their still somewhat tender faces could not be hidden.
“Irene, who is this silly girl?”
The dark elf girl Irene glanced at the faces of the two young elves, smiled, and raised her exquisite pupils again. She then bowed slightly to the girl in front of her and said, “Oh, Miss Verafia, they are two little ones I happened to meet. I heard that the Goddess is going to save humans oppressed by an evil religion, so they pestered me and wanted to go to the human world together. This is their first time leaving their hometown.”
In the beautiful big eyes of the elf girls, curiosity shone as they looked at the golden-haired girl in front of Irene. This “Miss Verafia” was clearly a girl not much older than them, yet she could command such respect from the all-powerful sister Irene?
“Hello, Miss Verafia. I am Fortuna, and this is Little Tu. As Sister Irene said… we wanted to see the grace of the Goddess, so we begged Sister Irene to bring us out.”
One of the elf girls in a white dress stepped forward slightly. Her clean, delicate pointed ears perked up, and she said with a hint of nervousness.
“So it’s you!” Verafia’s gaze fell on the two girls, and her small face showed a look of realization.
“Do you know me and Little Fu?” another elf girl asked with a bit of curiosity.
“Cough, cough, of course. Irene has mentioned you to this young lady.”
This was, of course, Verafia’s polite excuse. However, for Verafia, as the Goddess of Life, her divine sense covered the entire World Tree. As long as she was willing to recall, she could indeed remember these two elf girls… Hmm, she remembered they were discussing Igte back then? Hmm, if they knew that the human youth standing beside them was the Igte they once admired so much, she wondered what their reaction would be?
She glanced at Igte beside her, and Verafia’s big eyes blinked charmingly. She then turned her gaze back to the two elf girls in front of her, her delicate eyebrows furrowing slightly: “However, they are still such young children. How could Irene bring them to such a distant empire? This young lady doesn’t have much confidence either…”
“We’re not afraid,” one elf girl quickly said. “We’re not children anymore. If converted to human years, Little Fu and I are almost adults, and we’re already mages who can cast spells!”
Fortuna also raised her head, determination shining in her beautiful big eyes. She clenched her little fists and said, “It was the Goddess who saved our country, and it was she who brought us life back. However, Goddess Princess still has to fight against the evil cult, and we want to help her hometown. Even if we can’t do much, we want to help a little.”
“Goddess Princess does not wish to see such young children facing danger.”
Seeing these two exceptionally determined elf girls, Verafia couldn’t help but shake her head and chuckle. She tilted her head and thought for a moment, then suddenly smiled. With a light touch of her slender hand, her jade-carved exquisite fingertips plucked two emerald green leaves.
“Since they are Irene’s friends… here, I’ll give them to you as a gift from this young lady. Perhaps, the Goddess will meet you.”
