Chapter 76: Double the Envy
“What’s going on!”
After the morning reading session, a surprised exclamation came from the next classroom. It was Zhang Suxin, a certain photographer.
The matter was simple. As soon as class ended, she happily took out her phone, wanting to see how many views her post had gained.
Before she could be happy for even a minute, she was shocked to find that her post had been deleted, along with related posts.
Now, on the school forum, there wasn’t a trace of any post related to Ye Ziming, including the one about his girlfriend.
And that wasn’t the most outrageous part. What was even more outrageous was that several pinned posts had appeared on the forum, all discussing the dangers of teenage romance.
The school even issued a notice stating that they would strictly crack down on teenage romance during this period, eliminating any couple they found!
Of course, they couldn’t eliminate Ye Ziming, because his family was the school’s biggest ‘sponsor’.
“Damn it! I spent so much time and finally came up with a bombshell, and it’s deleted just like that!?”
After browsing the school forum, Zhang Suxin angrily roared with dissatisfaction.
But while she was angry, there was nothing she could do, because she knew it was the school administrators who had taken action, and any post she made would be deleted.
Furthermore, if she maliciously stirred up trouble, she would likely be summoned to the academic affairs office for a talk.
However, she didn’t give up. She still had a video, a clip of Ye Ziming and Xiaomuqing performing on stage.
She had originally planned to post it in the morning, dropping a bombshell when the discussion was most intense!
But in the current situation, she couldn’t post it at school anymore and had to try somewhere else.
“Hmph! If you don’t let me become famous, I’ll become famous somewhere else!”
Pouting her mouth, Zhang Suxin opened another forum and started editing a new post, which contained the video of the two performing on stage.
Besides doing this, she also planned to personally investigate who the cat-eared maid was!
Meanwhile, on the other side, Xiaomuqing didn’t know what had happened until Lin Wenbin let out a surprised cry.
She opened the school forum and was surprised to find that those posts were gone.
“Did you do this?”
After looking at the forum, Xiaomuqing’s first reaction was to look at her good brother beside her.
Recalling their conversation before the morning reading session, he had said he would handle it and told her to rest assured.
Now that something like this had happened, she couldn’t help but think it had something to do with her good brother.
“Yes and no.”
Speaking in riddles, Ye Ziming nodded in admission, but not entirely.
Because he had only said a few words about how teenage romance could affect academic study, and then had someone relay them to the school’s senior leadership.
He had intended to use this to suppress the popularity of these posts and, at the same time, implement a ban on teenage romance to divert everyone’s attention.
He just didn’t expect the school to do such a ‘good’ job, directly deleting the posts and starting a strict crackdown on teenage romance. This was somewhat beyond his expectations.
“So, that means this matter is related to you.”
Her mind working quickly, she soon reached this conclusion.
At this moment, when Xiaomuqing looked at her good brother, her eyes were filled with gratitude, mixed with a hint of admiration.
Seeing the confident smile on her good brother’s face, she knew she had guessed correctly. He had at least played a supporting role in this.
“Guess.”
With a sly smile, Ye Ziming looked into Xiaomuqing’s eyes, raised his eyebrows, and used his ‘old trick’ skill.
“Wow! You’re so annoying!”
Upon hearing those words, the warmth in Xiaomuqing’s heart instantly vanished, and the gratitude on her face disappeared with it.
Like an angry pufferfish, her cheeks puffed up rapidly as she glared at him indignantly, rolling her eyes.
What she didn’t know was that while she was expressing dissatisfaction, Ye Ziming saw it as acting cute.
Even her eye-rolls were so adorable. He wondered if Xiaomuqing was raised on cuteness, perhaps living in a world of adorable things since childhood.
Instead of getting angry when being scolded, Ye Ziming felt even happier, and began to think he was indeed “toxic”.
“Is that a pufferfish? It puffs up when it’s angry.”
Reaching out to gently poke Xiaomuqing’s puffy cheek, Ye Ziming asked with a smile.
“You’re the pufferfish!”
She glared back at him fiercely.
“But I don’t puff up when I’m angry.”
“You puff up!”
“…”
During the break between the morning reading session and the next class, the two interacted for a long time.
On the surface, Xiaomuqing seemed very angry, but in reality, she wasn’t angry at all and was even enjoying herself.
Zhang Xiaoling, sitting not far away, quietly watched their interaction, feeling a little envious.
Since attending the Comiket, she had successfully met the cat-eared maid and even took a photo with her.
However, it was a bit regrettable that she couldn’t get the other party’s contact information in the end. Zhang Xiaoling really wanted to be friends with her.
So now she felt double the envy towards Ye Ziming.
On one hand, she envied him for having such a cute cat-eared maid as his girlfriend. On the other hand, she envied him for being able to interact with Lin Muqing so casually.
“What are you looking at?”
As Zhang Xiaoling was lost in thought, Wang Wenxin suddenly poked her head around and said softly in her ear.
“Ah! What are you doing!”
Startled, Zhang Xiaoling couldn’t help but exclaim, then glared at Wang Wenxin with a hint of complaint.
“Do you want me to help you?”
Actually, Wang Wenxin didn’t need Zhang Xiaoling to tell her what she was looking at. It was just out of playful curiosity that she leaned in and whispered.
Moreover, in her drawer, there was a pink letter she had already written, a fine piece of work mimicking Zhang Xiaoling’s handwriting.
Since Zhang Xiaoling dared not act, as her good bestie, it was only natural for her to fan the flames.
“No need.”
Looking into Wang Wenxin’s eyes, Zhang Xiaoling awkwardly turned her head, answering softly.
At that very moment, she had felt a stir in her heart.
But after thinking about it, she felt it wasn’t appropriate, so she suppressed her feelings and refused her good bestie’s offer.
What she didn’t know was that after being rejected by her, Wang Wenxin narrowed her eyes and smiled meaningfully.
“Alright then.”
With a look of feigned regret on her face, Wang Wenxin had actually made up her mind. She would deliver the pink letter that afternoon.
For she could clearly tell that Zhang Xiaoling wasn’t telling the truth.
“Sigh~ Let’s tidy up, it’s almost time for class.”
She said, casting another glance at Xiaomuqing, then withdrew her gaze and began to prepare for class.
A strange thought suddenly crossed her mind.
If the cat-eared maid and Lin Muqing were the same person, and if Zhang Xiaoling succeeded, wouldn’t that be double the happiness?
It sounded thrilling even to think about it. She even started to imagine what Lin Muqing would look like in female attire.
At this moment, a new problem arose. The imaginary scenes in Zhang Xiaoling’s mind all turned into the appearance of the cat-eared maid.
The implications were chilling!
