Chapter 39: Eileen, You Are My Goddess (Please cast your votes!)
Mifs did not want to die.
Since it was a fight to the death, the Holy See had naturally taken Luo Xiu’s last frenzy into account.
Or in other words, Mifs’s mission was to probe all of Luo Xiu’s hidden means.
Clearly, his mission had already been completed.
The next matters would be left to Your Eminence the Pope.
That supreme leader of the Holy See was also the true top mage of the entire Maya Empire.
He was the only demigod in this world!
No matter how Luo Xiu struggled, he absolutely could not cross an entire major realm to possess the power to resist a demigod.
This was the confidence Your Eminence the Pope had given Mifs.
He was a true legendary figure, how could Luo Xiu possibly defeat him?
Although it had to be admitted that Luo Xiu’s performance might even be something Your Eminence the Pope could not achieve at his current age.
But Luo Xiu was, after all, still too young.
Perhaps in a few decades, he might have the capital to challenge Your Eminence the Pope, but now it was far from enough.
As Mifs cried out, Luo Xiu slowly ceased his movement.
Because not far away, a hunched old man was walking step by step.
His beard and hair were all white, and his aura was no different from that of an ordinary person on the street.
But when Mifs saw him, his eyes erupted with an extremely fervent light.
The old man’s steps were unhurried, each one taken with great steadiness.
His cloudy eyes revealed no significant emotional fluctuations.
An irresistible domain quietly unfolded, enveloping the entire manor.
Unlike Luo Xiu and the others who were fighting fiercely, the old man’s every action caused no disturbance in the heavens and earth.
He gazed at Luo Xiu, raising the silver-white staff in his hand as if judging a heretic.
The old man murmured.
“Luo Xiu, do you know your sins?”
The moment the words fell, invisible pressure surged from all directions, rushing towards Luo Xiu.
The pressure wanted him to kneel, but Luo Xiu straightened his body, causing a cracking sound from his bones.
He laughed inexplicably.
“Know my sins?”
“My faith in the Goddess is unshakeable, what sins do I have?”
Luo Xiu’s reaction was calm, completely devoid of the madness of a dying man.
He seemed more satisfied.
This made it difficult for the Pope to comment.
You brat are about to lose your life, what are you thinking in your mind?
If you had just continued to be a good priest, your future would have been truly bright.
But you insisted on opposing the Holy See, leading to such a miserable end.
The Pope frowned tightly, feeling very confused.
Or rather, he had been very confused since two years ago when Luo Xiu forcibly took the witch from the Holy See.
Coupled with Luo Xiu’s actions over the past two years, he had secretly observed everything.
Apart from fooling around with those two little witches all day, he could find no suspicious behavior.
As for the reason being genuine deep affection for the two little witches, the Pope had long since dismissed this explanation.
The most unreliable thing in this world was so-called affection.
So, why was it?
The Pope pondered for a moment, then chose to ask directly.
“Why?”
He was now facing Luo Xiu entirely from the position of a victor, so he did not seem anxious in the least.
Luo Xiu was bound to die, and those two little witches would naturally not escape his grasp.
The situation was decided.
This was the Pope’s current feeling.
He paused and continued, “Luo Xiu, you claim your faith in the Goddess is unshakeable, but are your actions not a descent into depravity?”
Luo Xiu did not speak, only continued to smile.
It seemed that ever since the Pope appeared, the smile on his face had not stopped.
It was like the joy of a long-planned scheme finally ensnaring the big fish.
He couldn’t suppress it, the upward curl of his lips was impossible to quell.
The Pope grew even more bewildered.
He truly couldn’t understand, his expression also showing a hint of impatience.
“Luo Xiu, don’t think you’re hiding it well. Do you think I don’t know about you extensively researching the ritual of becoming a god?”
The Pope sneered dismissively as he spoke.
“What an irredeemable fool, not even reaching the realm of a demigod, yet you dare to fantasize about becoming a god?”
“Even if you read through more ancient texts, what good would it do?”
“Relying on those two little witches you took away?”
Mentioning the word “god,” the Pope’s emotions suddenly fluctuated.
Every word seemed to be laced with endless rage.
But Luo Xiu ignored him, not even bothering to look at him again.
Luo Xiu turned and rapidly swept towards the two little witches surrounded by the Judgement Army.
His speed was extremely fast, even leaving afterimages in the air.
Some Judgement Army soldiers instinctively tried to block him, but Luo Xiu simply slapped them away.
The Pope narrowed his eyes upon seeing this and did not stop him.
He really wanted to know what scheme Luo Xiu was plotting.
High above, everything happening had nothing to do with Selena, who was struggling to hold on below.
Her long hair was soaked with sweat, messily clinging to her forehead.
Maintaining that black flame had drained too much of her stamina.
Now, seeing Luo Xiu return, the girl finally showed a smile.
She wanted to say something, but her body went soft, and she almost fell to the ground.
Fortunately, Luo Xiu promptly extended his hand and pulled her into his embrace.
Seeing her exhausted state, Luo Xiu felt a pang of heartache.
Selena reached out and gently caressed his cheek.
She whispered, “Lord Luo Xiu, did you win?”
High in the sky was a battle between top mages.
Luo Xiu was taken aback for a moment, then shook his head.
“That old man, the Pope, even if I used forbidden arts, I couldn’t defeat him.”
“The gap between me and a demigod is still a little too large.”
Luo Xiu spoke very calmly, merely stating facts.
Selena gazed up at him, her expression surprisingly gentle.
She should have been angry upon learning that Luo Xiu had deceived her.
But in the girl’s eyes, there was still an irrepressible love.
She slumped into his embrace and whispered.
“Lord Luo Xiu, you saved me; you gave me a second life.”
There was no sorrow, no pain.
Selena once again took Luo Xiu’s hand.
“Lord Luo Xiu, please become a god.”
After saying this, the girl’s eyelashes trembled, and her eyes closed.
Having overdrawn too much stamina, she was too tired and fell into a deep sleep.
Luo Xiu fell silent. Holding Selena’s slender body, he turned to glance at Eileen, who had been silent beside them.
The girl’s black dress trailed on the ground, stained with a little dust.
Seeing the man look at her, her hollow eyes slowly focused.
She did not speak, merely imitating Selena and closing her eyes.
The two girls’ attitudes were strikingly consistent.
They harbored no intention of resisting.
Even knowing that this was a carefully orchestrated deception, they accepted it willingly.
But after waiting for a long time, the expected pain did not arrive.
Eileen couldn’t help but open her eyes.
The next moment, her pupils constricted sharply.
She saw a terribly bloody gash on the man’s chest.
Where his heart should have been, there was now nothing.
The girl looked up, and a still-beating heart was presented before her.
Eileen was completely stunned.
And as she remained in a daze, the man, without hesitation, squeezed it forcefully.
Fresh blood sprayed everywhere, soaking the girl’s long hair and her black dress.
An eternal and inviolable aura began to erupt between the two girls.
It was the innate grandeur of a god!
The ritual was, at this point, completed.
This was indeed a deception from beginning to end.
Except, it was not them who offered their lives, but Luo Xiu.
Looking at the unscalable radiance emanating from the girl.
A somewhat strained smile formed on the man’s lips.
“Miss Eileen, you are my goddess.”
He said softly.
