Chapter 30: My Younger Sister Intervenes in the Shura Field
After the new student registration ended, a three-week military training began.
I experienced a tense period of gathering at 5 AM and training until 8 PM every day. It made me miss the days when I was a zombie. Back then, when I couldn’t sleep all night and was bored, I would find something to do. On those lonely nights, Lan was my only companion. She was very sleepy but kept chatting with me as if she had endless topics. But in the latter half of the night, overwhelmed by sleepiness, she would babble incoherently. I would then chuckle and urge her to go to sleep. Lan was actually very cute back then… just to keep me company.
“Ah, this damn military training is finally over~ I’ve had enough~”
“Yeah, I deeply agree. We’re really fed up…”
The exclamations from A Cha and A Bing brought me back to reality. Just moments ago, the instructor had finally announced the end of military training, and everyone burst into applause, moved to tears.
“Speaking of which, you two look like you’re perfectly fine. Do you have to be so tough?”
A Bing was the most miserable during this military training. Already gaunt, he looked completely drained and almost soulless after the training.
In contrast, A Cha complained continuously but seemed unfazed, only struggling to get up in the morning. His physical fitness seemed excellent, unlike those spoiled second-generation rich kids with weak constitutions.
For Boko and me, this military training was nothing.
“It’s just regular physical training; it’s no big deal.”
“Exactly.”
“You two really are something. Even I find it a bit strenuous, and I’ve practiced martial arts.” A Cha wiped the sweat from his brow.
Practiced martial arts? No wonder his physical fitness is so good. Wealthy families are indeed different. Could A Cha be from one of those ancient noble families who inherited ancient martial arts? …What a chuunibyo development.
“With a healthy physique, one can work more efficiently. If Hawking had been as healthy as me, he would surely have exercised daily to ensure his natural lifespan was long enough. After all, human lifespans are too short.”
“I knew it would be some kind of life-lesson statement. You, the ‘God of Science,’ are no ordinary person. Please, put away your god-like aura!”
“It’s no use, A Cha. For the ‘God of Science,’ showing off is an innate skill.”
“I’ll just call you Kobe from now on.”
These two are getting more in sync with their banter, and Boko’s nicknames keep piling up. Although Boko’s motivations and actions were positive and healthy, they seemed too dazzling for A Bing and A Cha, who were essentially shut-ins. They kept making witty remarks about ‘God of Science’s’ extraordinary deeds.
“By the way, Juncheng, what about you? I thought you’d be one of us. Did you learn any martial arts?”
“I just don’t feel things easily… Well, my endurance is just stronger than others.”
Actually, it’s because I’m used to being a zombie, so I’m relatively insensitive to my body.
And also… this ‘new body’ is too excellent.
This body was made using my zombie form as a template, not my original body. I had already sensed that this body was a reflection of my zombie form, perfectly optimized… In other words, it’s my body adjusted to its peak state. And after so long here, its recovery ability is much stronger too. Sometimes, I even feel like my body isn’t quite… real, a subtle feeling…
“Ah, damn it, I’m so envious of you talented guys… Let’s go, let’s go eat, I’m starving.”
Following the three of them, I stared at my palm, lost in thought. Finding an empty seat in the cafeteria at this hour would be difficult. Last week, the four of us came to the second cafeteria on campus. Now that the official start of the semester has arrived, the seniors from the second and third years have returned to school, and the campus is at its peak population.
Indeed, there were no seats available for the four of us in the cafeteria. We had to split up and share tables with others. This is not the time for brotherly camaraderie; of course, eating is more important.
“God of Science” had already ordered and was eating by himself at some point. A Cha and A Bing were still hesitating, clearly typical indecisive people.
I casually ordered a rice bowl, carried my tray, and looked around. I immediately spotted a familiar face.
I walked over with a smile and sat down next to her, greeting her softly.
“Yo, Li Nai, what a coincidence.”
Among the sea of new students in their bright green military uniforms, she stood out. This lone red amidst the green was Li Nai, whom I hadn’t seen in many days.
Upon seeing me, she showed no surprise.
“Oh? Isn’t this Junior An? Military training ended today, right?”
“Yeah, it’s finally all over today. And please, don’t call me junior. We’re the same age, aren’t we? And by birthday, I’m actually older.”
“Oh? Is that so?”
However, in the original world, Li Nai’s true age was older than mine…
Seeing my silence, Li Nai suddenly burst out laughing, propping her chin on her hand. “Fine, I’ll still call you Juncheng. Calling you ‘junior’ does feel a bit uncomfortable.”
Speaking of which, Li Nai was at a four-person table, yet no one was sitting with her. There were still two empty seats that could have been for A Rong and A Bing.
I started looking for them but found that the space around us seemed to freeze. The once noisy cafeteria became eerily quiet. A Cha and A Bing were staring at us with disbelief.
Hmm? This atmosphere feels a bit familiar? Wasn’t this the situation when Lian Bing suddenly sat next to me back then? Come to think of it, Li Nai is indeed a beautiful girl on par with Lian Bing. It’s just that she used to be more wild, so no one saw her as a girl. But now… she has a full-blown goddess aura.
Damn, I was too careless. For a new student like me to sit so casually in front of a goddess, and for the goddess not to look down on me, this was bound to cause a stir…
Just as I expected, after a moment of silence, the surroundings erupted into lively discussion. This reaction is… so fierce. Just like back then.
Well, whatever, I can’t be bothered to care about such trivial matters anymore. My brain automatically filtered out the voices questioning who I was, why I could sit at a table with five great beauties, and how brazen I was.
“Oh no, A Cha and A Bing are really glaring at you. It looks like they’re looking at a piece of… We’ll have trouble with them later.”
It seems A Cha and A Bing won’t be joining us. Those two…
Li Nai didn’t seem to care about the surrounding reactions and continued speaking to me.
“Since military training is over, I’ll take you on a tour of the campus tomorrow. There are many scenic spots worth seeing at Shanshui University.”
Actually, this Li Nai and the Li Nai from the original world…
“Fascinating? So things in my world aren’t entirely different either. Your impetuous nature is no different from before.”
“I’ll invite Yu Hui too. She should be…”
“Are you talking about me?”
“Oh, speak of the devil and she appears.”
Just then, Yu Hui also appeared in the cafeteria, having already changed out of her military uniform and wearing a simple yet elegant outfit.
“Speaking of the devil… I was the one who asked you to come out, Senior.”
When Yu Hui sat next to me, the commotion escalated. Li Nai alone was enough to cause a stir, and with Yu Hui, who was equally beautiful, the crowd of onlookers grew. Furthermore, for these new students, Li Nai, a senior, wasn’t very familiar. However, Yu Hui, also a new student, seemed to be known by everyone.
The boys wanted to get a closer look at the beauties, but they couldn’t just stare like they were at a zoo. The area around our table became like a vortex, constantly spinning and causing frequent collisions. However, we, at the center of the vortex, were unaffected.
“Why choose the cafeteria? There are too many people here—”
“Because I guessed you would definitely come to the cafeteria to eat after military training, so I asked Senior Li Nai to meet me at the cafeteria first… I just didn’t expect so many people.”
“Couldn’t you have just asked me to go out? There was no need to wait for me here specifically.”
Hearing this, both of them looked at me and sighed in unison.
Huh? What’s wrong?
“I really don’t know if you did it on purpose or not, but what you just said sounds exactly like a playboy.”
“Huh?”
Come to think of it, it really does seem that way…
“Sorry, I didn’t mean that…” Yu Hui said softly, lowering her head.
“I know. I’m sorry, I didn’t consider things carefully. I didn’t expect so many people in the cafeteria. The food here is mediocre; I thought not many people would come.”
Frankly, the cafeteria food isn’t bad, but it’s too monotonous and greasy, which wouldn’t inspire anyone to eat it long-term. I think after today, the number of people coming to the cafeteria will decrease significantly. The current crowd is mainly because everyone exerted too much energy during military training and didn’t want to walk further to eat elsewhere. Stopping by the cafeteria on the way back to the dorm is the most time-saving and energy-efficient option.
The Yu Hui I remembered was always perfect at everything, meticulous and rigorous, leaving no room for criticism, possessing abilities far beyond her peers. However, this Yu Hui now looks… ordinary and approachable. It’s like the Xiao Bai from when I was young; growing up, she would probably feel this way. So, without her past life’s memories, Yu Hui is just an ordinary girl… Perhaps this is for the best.
“Don’t worry about it, Yu Hui. Although there are quite a few people, it’s not too bad. Let’s talk about what you wanted to see us about.”
Yu Hui nodded in response.
“It’s like this, because Senior Li Nai and Juncheng helped me when school started, I wanted to find a time to repay you.”
“There’s no need to be so polite.”
“Exactly, exactly.”
So Yu Hui still remembered it? Her personality of repaying kindness hasn’t changed at all.
“No, I must repay you. So, please tell us what you need.”
Seeing Yu Hui’s persistence, we couldn’t refuse. Li Nai looked at me first. “Juncheng, do you have any good ideas?”
“Not at all.”
“That’s true. Anyway, as long as you’re willing, there will be plenty of beautiful girls willing to take you to the most high-end restaurants.”
“Do I look like a gigolo?”
Both of them nodded.
Hmph, you call me a competent ordinary young man, and then you call me a gigolo? Although living at Nana’s house does feel like being kept…
“I think we should just eat here. It’s a cafeteria, isn’t it?”
“How can you be so casual about it?”
“But, just the three of us, there aren’t many places we can…”
There are many places we *can’t* go, to be precise. The three of them formed a very awkward number. If we went to the movies, I, a guy, would be stuck in the middle. If we went to an amusement park, on any ride… it always felt… Restaurants are the same. The ideal would be karaoke, but I’m not the type to get wild, nor is Yu Hui, and neither is the Li Nai of this world. What other places are there? My head hurts.
“Then, if you add me, it’ll be perfect~”
“Huh?” x3
As soon as she spoke, I felt a pair of hands rest on my shoulders. I immediately recognized that lively voice.
I turned around in surprise, only to feel moist lips press against my cheek.
Countless eyes widened abruptly, mouths agape in shock. The cacophony grew even louder.
Suddenly intervening in our conversation… was my Younger Sister, whom I hadn’t seen in over half a month.
An Keling.
She playfully stuck out her tongue, wrapped her arms around my neck, and said in a sweet, delicate voice.
“Let’s all four of us go out and have fun together~”
At this moment, I felt the most familiar Shura field descend upon me once again. And this, perhaps, was just the beginning…
