Side Flam
I am Flam. I am an Undine from the Yokai Race who lives in a village called Prada Village, located a little north of Feel.
An Order member who was visiting to report to the Order’s Guild in Emosion, after stopping by from Feel, told me that a High Fox parents and their Human guard who were staying in Prada Village recently took down the Green Fang and even the Black Fenrir. It was a terrifying experience to even have a Catastrophe Species like the Black Fenrir, but thanks to them, the village has regained its vitality, and we can now go out to purchase food. That’s why my sister Rebecca, my childhood friend Raus, and I decided to register as Hunters and head to Feel to negotiate with Traders to come to Prada Village.
“This is Feel’s Hunter’s Guild. Now we can finally become Hunters!”
“Raus, I understand you’re excited, but don’t forget our purpose, okay?”
“I know, I know. Hunter Registration is just a side thing. After that, we’ll go to the Trader’s Guild and ask them to dispatch Traders, right?”
It won’t change things immediately, but there’s no doubt that our reserves are low, and we need some luxury items to escape this feeling of stagnation. For that, I have a list of the minimum necessary goods from the Village Chief. Items that are individually needed but not urgent are compiled on a separate list, but these are things we’d like to have if possible.
More importantly, let’s get registered as Hunters first.
“Welcome to the Hunter’s Guild, Feel Branch. Are you here to register?”
When I entered the Guild and went to the counter where a woman named Loxy was working, I was treated with great politeness. I was a little intimidated for a moment, and Raus and Rebecca were also surprised, but I quickly remembered our purpose and replied.
“Yes, please.”
“Understood. Then, you will need to fill this out here, but do you require assistance with writing?”
“No, we’re fine.”
I can read and write, but Raus and Rebecca cannot yet. They should be able to read, so I think they will be able to write soon.
“Yes, you are Flam, Raus, and Rebecca. Your Raid Name is Wind of Prada. Yes, there are no problems. We will proceed with the registration, so please provide your blood here.”
“Understood.”
I’m more interested in being a Crafter than a Hunter, but hunting Monsters isn’t uncommon in Prada Village, and the Hunter’s Guild pays the highest price. Furthermore, if there are subjugation requests, we even get paid, so the Hunter’s Guild is the best place to sell Monsters. I intend to register with the Crafter’s Guild eventually, but I plan to do that after I’ve worked as a Hunter and earned some money.
“Your registration is now complete. Please read these important notes at your leisure.”
After a brief explanation, the registration was complete. We checked our Licenses and showed them to each other.

These are our Licenses, but I am actually the lowest level. Raus often goes hunting, so his level has increased without me noticing. Rebecca also spends a lot of time with Raus, which might be why. Also, I learned about the properties of magic from someone who visited Prada Village the other day, which helped me gain a few levels in just a few days. I heard they are staying in Feel, so I would like to thank them if I get to meet them.
“Huh. You guys just registered as Hunters? Then we’ll teach you the ways of being a Hunter.”
“Be grateful. It’s not often we, Kerberos Fang, do something like this.”
“We’ll collect payment in kind, so don’t hold back.”
However, as we left the Hunter’s Guild, we were surrounded by nearly thirty people. From their conversation, I gathered they were also Hunters, but they didn’t look like any Hunters I’d ever seen.
“We don’t need it. I have acquaintances in Feel, so I’ve decided to learn from them.”
Raus immediately refused, but it seemed to have the opposite effect.
“Are you refusing our kindness? Do you think you can survive as a Hunter in Feel like this? Huh?”
“I do! Because those people are incredibly high level!”
Rebecca also spoke up, but I could tell they were laughing mockingly.
“W-What? What’s so funny?!”
“It’s funny. Because the highest-level Hunter currently in Feel is undoubtedly me.”
We were surprised by the words of the woman who seemed to be the leader. That couldn’t be right. There are two people with levels over 50, High Class individuals, currently in Feel, so there’s no way she could be the highest level.
“Big sis, could it be you’re talking about *them*?”
“Ah, I see. However, it’s unlikely *those* two will be back. They went to Mylight with just the two of them, and no matter how High Class they are, it’s impossible to go to Mylight with just two people and come back alive.”
“No way! And why didn’t you guys go?!”
“Why would we? There’s nothing to gain from going there, and it’s like throwing away our lives. Why should we risk our lives for a town like this?”
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. It’s true that the Mylight Mountains are one of the most dangerous areas in the Amister Kingdom, but I’ve heard that people do go there on requests. Yet, these people said they wouldn’t go because it offered no personal gain, and they didn’t care what happened to Feel. Such irresponsible remarks were beyond anything I could consider a Hunter to say. I couldn’t understand how people like them could be Hunters.
“In that case, we’ll properly teach you the ways of being a Hunter. If you want to survive in Feel, you’ll do as we say.”
“Absolutely not!”
“Feisty kid, huh? Well, you can be favored by Big sis.”
Saying that, one of the men carelessly approached Raus.
“Gyaaaaah!”
However, Raus grabbed the man’s arm and, without hesitation, twisted it, breaking a bone.
“You! Don’t get cocky!”
“Shut up! It’s your fault!”
The members of Kerberos Fang surrounded us, but the fact that they hadn’t drawn their weapons was a small comfort. Drawing weapons unnecessarily in the town would lead to arrest by the Order’s Guild, so perhaps they were avoiding that.
“He was careless, that’s why. So, we won’t punish you for that. However, he can’t go hunting for a while now, and he can’t protect the town. Naturally, you’ll pay damages, won’t you?”
“W-Well…”
I knew these people were at fault, but they were the ones who struck first. Therefore, I had no words to return to the woman. I have money, but it’s for the village, so we can’t use it without permission. I had no idea what to do.
“We know you don’t have much money. So, all we ask is for you to accompany us for a bit. It’s not like we’re asking you to sell your bodies or anything, so don’t worry.”
Frankly, I couldn’t trust them at all. However, since there were no other options, I decided to agree to her terms.
“Understood. But please, let me go alone.”
“That won’t do. Since this kid is the one who hurt him, we need at least you and him to come to show sincerity.”
That’s true, but Raus is like a younger brother to me. I have no intention of putting my brother in danger, so I still want to go alone.
“Hey, what are you doing to my acquaintance?”
Just as I was thinking that, help arrived. It was Yamato Mikami. He is a High Human male, the highest-level person known not only to me but also to everyone in Prada Village. According to Yamato, not only these people from Kerberos Fang but all the Hunters currently in Feel are involved in criminal activities. Yamato has experienced similar situations more than once and has already apprehended several Hunters, making it hard to believe.
“Thank you for helping us.”
“Don’t worry about it. And speaking of which, it’s good that the timing was good. Actually, we left for Mylight yesterday, so normally you would still be in Mylight.”
“Indeed. You were lucky, as were we.”
This is Primrose, a High Fox. When she first came to Prada Village, she was a Fox, but she became a High Fox during her stay, which was a great surprise to me. The other human woman is someone I’m meeting for the first time, but her attire suggests she’s an Order member. Her name is Meena, and she is guiding Yamato and Primrose.
“Still, I recall you mentioning coming to Feel, but you arrived sooner than expected. Was the journey alright?”
“Yes. Thanks to you two defeating the Black Fenrir and Green Fang, we had no major problems. We were attacked by some Glass Wolves a few times, but that was about it.”
“Oh? Weren’t there any Glass Boas?”
“No, we didn’t encounter any, nor did we see any.”
Rebecca answered with a look that seemed to ask why they were asking, while Yamato and Primrose showed disappointed expressions. Did something happen?
“No, I’m currently taking on a material collection request for Glass Boas, so I was hoping for any sighting reports.”
I see. However, Glass Boas are Monsters that can be found anywhere in the plains of the Amister Kingdom, so I don’t think they would be difficult to find.
“Well, that’s true. More importantly, do you have any plans from now on?”
“Ah, yes. We need to go to the Trader’s Guild and place the orders for the requested items.”
Since the quantity is large, I will likely have to request escort services from the Hunter’s Guild. Given the current situation in Feel, I really don’t feel like making a request.
“Ah, I see.”
“In that case, won’t you join us for dinner? My treat, since it’s been a while.”
“No, that’s not…”
I wanted to refuse, but Raus and Rebecca’s eyes lit up. While Prada Village has places to eat, they are primarily inns, so we rarely eat out. Therefore, Raus and Rebecca were very much looking forward to eating in Feel. Of course, since we just became Hunters, we would have to save money for a while, so I thought we wouldn’t be able to afford to eat out for some time. However, since Yamato offered to treat us, they became quite hopeful.
“Don’t be shy. We haven’t seen each other in a while, and I’d like to have a good chat.”
I also want to hear what they have to say, but I’m also a little scared to hear it.
“I want to hear!”
“Me too!”
However, my brother and sister are carefree, unaware of my feelings. But since they are eager and we haven’t seen each other in a long time, I will accept their offer for today.
