Helios Orb Chronicle – Chapter 165

Side Manalease

Thanks to Yamato’s support, we managed to defeat the Snow Dragoon, but I wasn’t able to contribute anything.
I’m so shocked that Sterling Divider, my unique magic created to compensate for my lack of attack power, only managed to inflict a scratch.
No, I wasn’t expecting it to work on an M-rank monster, but I thought it would at least do a little more damage.
Not only did Sterling Divider fail, but it couldn’t even draw the Snow Dragoon’s attention. Right after I used my unique magic Mace Quake, Mina was left wide open, and I couldn’t even support her. If it weren’t for Yamato, things would have gotten irreversible.

However, this battle not only leveled up Mina and Flam, but it also allowed them to evolve into High Humans and High Undines, respectively. So, if we only look at the results, I guess it was enough.
Athena and Rebecca also leveled up, but unfortunately, they couldn’t evolve.
Mina is now level 45, Flam is level 43, Athena is 41, and Rebecca is level 44. Athena and Rebecca could evolve at any moment, but Rebecca didn’t use any unique magic in the last battle, and Athena hasn’t developed any unique magic yet. That might be why they couldn’t evolve.

“Don’t be discouraged. The reason the Snow Dragoon could withstand Sterling Divider is because it reinforced its magic pinpointedly and significantly increased the strength of its neck.”
“Even so, the fact that it was blocked is undeniable, and Mina was still targeted.”

Yamato tries to comfort me, but my role was to distract the Snow Dragoon so that Mina and Athena wouldn’t be targeted.
However, even factoring in that Mina’s unique magic, Mace Quake, was more powerful than expected, the Snow Dragoon was still targeting Mina. So, I can’t say I fulfilled my role.

“Mina’s unique magic must have appeared threatening to the Snow Dragoon, so it can’t be helped. We’re covering for things like that, including Yamato and me.”

That’s true, but I’m still quite shocked.
My unique magic, Sterling Divider, is a magic that wraps my wind-attribute magic, and the attribute magic of my summoned beasts Luna, Spica, and Sirius around the Lapis Whip Edge, turning it into a giant sword. However, it couldn’t even cut through the scales of the M-rank monster, the Snow Dragoon.
The Snow Dragoon wasn’t unharmed, but it was far from a fatal wound.
However, Mina’s Mace Quake, which forms a giant war hammer from her Silverio Sword and strikes with it, can easily inflict damage even on hard scales.
That’s probably why the Snow Dragoon’s attention turned to Mina.

“This is a good example of how even Normal Class can inflict damage on high-rank monsters depending on how they fight.”

That’s true, as Yamato says.
When anomaly species or catastrophe species attack a town, it’s not always the High Class who fight.
Rather, Normal Class Hunters and Orders also fight on the front lines.
Even so, they can repel them, and some even succeed in defeating them. So, it’s not that Normal Class can’t inflict damage on high-rank monsters.
While weapons like swords and spears might be difficult, blunt weapons like maces and fighting tools are quite effective. That’s why the Order’s Guild has a considerable number of maces readily available.
So, it’s only natural that Mina, an Order member, developed a unique magic that resembles a war hammer.

Mace Quake is a magic where Mina wraps her favored earth-attribute magic around her Silverio Sword to form a giant mace about two meters long, and then wraps it with fire-attribute magic. The hardness depends on the weapon wrapped and Mina’s magic power.
Since her Silverio Sword is made of Lapis Lazuli, the earth war hammer also possesses hardness comparable to Lapis Lazuli.
What’s more, since Mina has evolved into a High Human, her hardness might increase even further.

Flam’s unique magic, Tidal Blaster, which she evolved into a High Undine, is a magic that wraps lightning-attribute magic around a giant water arrow and fires it with a spiral rotation using wind-attribute magic.
Adding a spiral rotation to the arrow increases its penetration power, and if it hits, it continues to inflict significant damage within the body. However, Flam, having evolved into a High Undine, has reportedly been granted the bestowed magic Fusion Magic, and stated she would fuse the water-attribute magic and lightning-attribute magic wrapped around Tidal Blaster.

Bestowed magic Fusion Magic is a magic that can fuse different magics, and due to its effect, unique magic is easily created.
In fact, many users of Fusion Magic have evolved into High Class and possess a variety of unique magic.
She reportedly started developing unique magic around the time she got engaged to Yamato, but Flam’s bestowed magic was Magic Eye Magic, so I heard she went through a lot of trial and error.

In addition to Fusion Magic, bestowed magic includes Telekinetic Magic, Spirit Magic, Summoning Magic, Magic Eye Magic, Barrier Magic, Transformation Magic, Dragon Purity Magic, Enhancement Magic, Tree Magic, Beast Magic, Recovery Magic, and Wing Magic, for a total of 13 types.
Normal Class can only use one, but High Class can use a second upon evolving, and Ancient Class can use a third.
However, Transformation Magic is an exception and isn’t included in the count.

The bestowed magic of us Wing Crests is as follows:

Yamato: Telekinetic Magic, Enhancement Magic, Magic Eye Magic – Water, Ice, Wind, Light
Prim: Wing Magic, Recovery Magic, Barrier Magic – Fire, Wind, Lightning
Mana: Summoning Magic, Tree Magic – Wind, Lightning
Yuri: Spirit Magic – Water
Rika: Tree Magic – Wind
Mina: Telekinetic Magic, Barrier Magic – Earth, Fire
Flam: Transformation Magic, Magic Eye Magic, Fusion Magic – Water, Ice
Lydia: Transformation Magic, Dragon Purity Magic, Barrier Magic – Ice, Earth
Ludia: Transformation Magic, Dragon Purity Magic, Fusion Magic – Fire, Lightning
Athena: Transformation Magic, Dragon Purity Magic – Earth, Light
Ed: Enhancement Magic – Earth
Marina: Transformation Magic, Dragon Purity Magic – Water
Fiana: Transformation Magic, Enhancement Magic – Wind
Raus: Beast Magic, Telekinetic Magic – Wind, Lightning
Rebecca: Transformation Magic, Magic Eye Magic – Water
Carol: Tree Magic – Wind
Marisa: Transformation Magic, Magic Eye Magic – Dark
Viola: Beast Magic – Wind
Eos: Transformation Magic, Dragon Purity Magic, Magic Eye Magic – Wind, Lightning
Apricot: Recovery Magic – Water
Yuria: Beast Magic – Fire

Dragon Transformation Magic of Dragonians is classified as Transformation Magic, but Dragon Purity Magic includes breath-type magic used by Lydia and burst-type magic for magic body reinforcement used by Ludia.
I’ve also listed their corresponding attributes; there are many water and wind attributes.

Incorporating bestowed magic into unique magic is common, and I, Yamato, and Prim have also incorporated it.

Lydia, Ludia, Raus, and Rebecca are also developing their unique magic, but they are still incomplete and haven’t been used in actual combat.
Ludia is closest to completion and said she would use it the next time she encounters a monster, but…

“Recovery complete. They don’t seem to be in bad shape, but they’re Snow Dragoons, so they’re ice attribute. If we’re going to use them, it’ll probably be Yamato, Flam, and Lydia.”
“That’s right. But since we have a lot of water and wind attributes, we should also look for dragoon types with those attributes.”

As Prim and Marina say, our corresponding attributes are mostly water and wind.
Yamato and Lydia originally had an aptitude for ice attribute, and Flam’s aptitude seems to have broadened after evolving into High Class. So, if we’re going to use the Snow Dragoon’s hides, these three will be prioritized.
Another type we’d like to get is a fire-attribute dragoon.
There are Prim, Ludia, Yuria, and Mina, who has evolved—four of them. But Prim using it automatically raises her priority, which can’t be helped.

“That would be the 7th Level, wouldn’t it? I don’t think fire-attribute dragoons would appear in a snowy region.”
“Indeed. Even if they did, it would probably be similar types like Ice Dragoon, or Frost Dragoon.”

Yamato and Prim are saying that, but the 6th Level only has P-rank monsters, and M-rank monsters appear only rarely. So, the probability of encountering them shouldn’t be that high, right?
Although, if we go to the 7th Level, we’ll be hunting them.

“Well then, shall we go?”
“Indeed. Still, I couldn’t tell inside the beast carriage, but it’s really cold.”
“Well, it’s a vast snowy plain as far as the eye can see, and the snow looks deep.”

As we set off in the beast carriage, Marina, who had come to retrieve the Snow Dragoon with Prim, murmured.
In Feel, snow accumulates about this much sometimes, but it doesn’t get this cold.
Conversely, in Float, it rarely snows this much, but it gets very cold on cold days.
However, Amagi Castle is also a Labyrinth, so it’s not freezing cold inside the castle.

“Still, I’ve had several magic enchantments applied, so it’s not that cold, which is a relief.”
“Yes. We’re circulating fire attribute magic and ice attribute magic with wind attribute magic, but without Yamato-san’s advice, we wouldn’t have been able to enchant it so effectively.”

Marina crafted our Crest Armor Coat, but Fiana performed the magic enchantments.
Fiana’s bestowed magic is Enhancement Magic Multi-ring, which allows her to enchant multiple magic at once. However, Craft Magic Enhancement Magic Inflicting can only enchant one magic, so Multi-ring is a coveted magic for Crafters.
Ed can also use Multi-ring, but he uses his magic power to forge weapons and armor, and since armor is also protective gear, he doesn’t have the leeway to do magic enchantments.
So, Fiana took care of the magic enchantments for our armor.
With the cooperation of Yamato and Marisa, they’ve also applied Hunter Magic Sustaining Stamina Recovery Magic Regenerating and Butler Magic Simple Acceleration Magic Speeding.
While the precision of any Guild Magic is lower than that used by Hunters, Butlers, or Orders, Regenerating reduces fatigue, and Speeding has the effect of slightly accelerating our movements and thinking speed.
It’s almost like a placebo, but it’s still far better than nothing, and the difference it makes can often be the difference between life and death, so it’s a great help.

Speaking of which, Yamato and Flam are considering registering at the Crafter’s Guild when we return to Feel. Since Yamato has been granted Enhancement Magic and Flam has been granted Fusion Magic, their next crafted coats are likely to be even more incredible than our Crest Armor Coat.
Fusion Magic can fuse different magics, and it can also fuse bestowed magic.
Flam can only use Hunter Magic, but if she registers at the Crafter’s Guild, she can also use Craft Magic. There are also other methods for magic enchantment, so with the cooperation of Yamato, Ed, and Fiana, who can use Enhancement Magic, it seems like they could create something truly amazing.
