**Side Sley**
Two days have passed since we repelled an army of 2,000, and we continue our march today.
Monsters attack as expected, but we easily fend them off, so our march is going smoothly.
It’s a nuisance to have to cross the desert occasionally, but the multi-functional beast carriage uses barrier-enchanted Tenma Stones to ensure comfortable passage through sweltering days and freezing nights. Aside from the harsh sunlight, we can spend time comfortably even on its deck.
However, after finishing our march for the day and making camp, all of us in the Ancient Class have gathered on the deck of Wing Crest’s multi-functional beast carriage, racking our brains.
“It’s still difficult, isn’t it?”
“It really is. I honestly don’t feel like I can do it.”
We, all sixteen of us, sit directly on the rear deck, which measures 20 square meters, and ponder the cause of our predicament: the acquisition of the long-distance teleportation magic, Traveling.
Currently, only the Grand Hunter’s Master can use Traveling.
Yamato and Prim-san were apparently taught the basics of it by the Grand Hunter’s Master. Traveling is a magic that bypasses a magic circle comprised of an eight-pointed star encompassing all elemental attributes, and moving long distances by passing through it.
Having evolved into the Ancient Class, we all now possess aptitude for three or more elements. However, we each have elements we are weak in, and for the Yokai Race, there are elements that are difficult to wield due to their racial makeup. Therefore, none us show any signs of acquiring it at this time.
For your information, these are our elemental aptitudes.
Yamato: Water, Ice, Wind, Light
Prim: Fire, Wind, Lightning
Mana: Wind, Lightning, Ice
Mako: Wind, Fire, Earth
Meena: Earth, Fire, Water
Flam: Water, Lightning, Dark
Lydia: Ice, Earth, Water
Ludia: Fire, Lightning, Wind
Eos: Wind, Lightning, Fire
Rex: Lightning, Ice, Light
Muse: Earth, Ice, Dark
Faris: Light, Lightning, Wind
Saya: Earth, Wind, Water
Caesar: Ice, Fire, Earth
El: Wind, Water, Ice
Sley: Fire, Earth, Lightning
Only Yamato-kun has an aptitude for four elements. This is apparently because the Water attribute engraving magic includes the Ice attribute.
He seems to think that his innate aptitude was Water, and that this aptitude separated when he transferred to the Helios Orb.
I thought Mako-san was the same, but while it’s true that Fire attribute engraving magic includes Lightning, Mako-san’s innate aptitude is Wind, so it didn’t happen that way.
“It’s about using all elemental magic in balance, but since it’s for teleportation, we can’t weaken the output. However, if we don’t, there will be a difference between compatible and incompatible attributes, making it unusable for teleportation.”
“Even gradually increasing the output, the balance broke at a certain point. At this rate, the only solution seems to be to use elemental magic of incompatible attributes that we don’t normally use, to increase precision even slightly.”
Muse and Caesar are also troubled, but I feel like this is the only way forward.
What Caesar mentioned in particular is something we’ve all practiced, but with weak magic power, we lack the necessary magic for teleportation. If we increase it, the balance breaks, causing the magic circle itself to vanish.
If we can use it even once, it counts as acquisition. And since we can easily teleport by linking it to Stalerring and registering destinations, it’s a magic that we, as evolved Ancient Class members, absolutely want to acquire.
“Is short distance okay too?”
“If we can use it, then yes, that should be fine.”
“Then, should we try to learn it even if it’s just for a few meters?”
Yamato-kun says something like that, but I’m not sure if that would count as mastery.
However, you never know unless you try. So, using that as a benchmark and gradually increasing the distance doesn’t seem like a bad idea.
“Then let’s try it.”
With that, Faris deployed a magic circle.
“Hmm, I still find Dark Magic difficult.”
“The others are well-balanced, so if you could manage Dark Magic, Faris, acquisition might be quick.”
“That’s the hardest part, though.”
Faris returns a wry smile to His Highness Manalease. Fairies have extremely low aptitude for Dark Magic, so acquisition will be quite difficult.
“Ah, Yamato-san, could you lend me the Multi Edge?”
“The Multi Edge? It’s fine, but why?”
“It’s not just the Multi Edge, but aren’t Magical Tools used by imbuing them with Engraving Magic?”
Flam, who had just evolved into Ancient Undine, makes such a suggestion to Yamato-kun.
Yamato-kun and Mako-san can generate weapons with their own magic power, but what do they intend to do with it?
“Strictly speaking, it’s not the same, but I think you can say that. The Multi Edge, in particular, is consumable, so it requires more effort, but magic and engraving are similar in that regard. So?”
“I thought that if I imbued my Dark Magic into that Multi Edge, I could support Faris-san.”
It’s not a bad suggestion, but can such a thing be done?
No, the Multi Edge is also Yamato-kun’s weapon, so I think borrowing it might be out of the question.
“Consumable Magical Tools can be generated infinitely. So Flam’s suggestion might not be bad after all. In fact, that’s a great idea.”
With that, Mako-san suddenly stood up, leaped from the beast carriage, and generated something behind her that looked like a windmill or a waterwheel.
She had generated it during the Slume Lord subjugation battle, but it’s the first time I’ve seen it up close.
“Is that Mako-san’s Spirit Hexa Dipper?”
“Yes. The Spirit Dipper I usually use is partly generated from this, just the wings.”
She can do that too?
It is said that Magical Tools come in various shapes and characteristics, and no two are alike. To be able to generate such an incredible object with one’s own magic power alone is truly amazing for engravers in another world.
“Ah, that’s right. The Spirit Hexa Dipper has aptitudes for all elements, so it would be perfect for support.”
“That’s right. Oh, Yamato-kun. I think you should also try Flam’s suggestion.”
“I understand. Flam, please.”
“Understood.”
With that, Yamato-kun hands the generated Multi Edge to Flam.
In the meantime, Mako-san channels magic power into the engraving tool called Spirit Hexa Dipper and draws an eight-pointed star.
The overall balance is good, and the magic power used is significant. This should work, shouldn’t it?
“Ah! A magic circle just appeared over there too!”
Responding to Ludia’s exclamation, everyone turns their eyes to a corner of the campsite.
Indeed, an eight-pointed star magic circle was floating there.
“It’s true.”
“For the first one, I thought it was better to have it somewhere visible. To teleport, we just need to pass through this magic circle, right?”
“That’s right. It’s the same as a Transfer Stone Tablet.”
“I see. I’ll go now then.”
With that, she passes through the magic circle.
Mako-san’s figure disappears as she passes through the magic circle, and the next moment she passes through the corresponding magic circle that appeared in another corner of the campsite.
Mako-san passes through the magic circle once more to return to the beast carriage, her face beaming with a smile.
“I checked the Stalerring, and it was registered.”
“In other words, Mako managed to acquire it.”
“Yes. And cities I’ve been to were also registered.”
I’d heard about it, but it’s truly useful.
I’ve been a Hunter for over 30 years, so I’ve been to quite a few cities within Amister alone, and I’ve been to other countries as well.
If I can use it, the operational range of Gracious Lynx, which I lead, will expand considerably.
“Faris-san, please try it with this.”
“Understood. I’ll gratefully borrow it.”
Faris borrows the Multi Edge from Flam and deploys an eight-pointed star magic circle just as before.
“This… it’s more stable than before.”
“How is it, Faris?”
“It’s considerably easier than before. Just a little more output…”
As Faris gradually increases the output of all attributes, the magic power flowing into the magic circle also increases.
And Faris’s magic circle also appears in a corner of the campsite.
“‘Stalerring On.’ It’s registered!”
Faris’s face lights up with joy, and indeed, she must be happy.
At first, it required the assistance of the Multi Edge, but once acquired, it should no longer be necessary.
“It seems that the engraved tool’s assistance is quite effective.”
“Yes. Although Magic Stones cannot be used, engraved tools are generated with the creator’s magic power, so that must be why it worked.”
The reason why Traveling magic tools haven’t been made is that the magic power of Magic Stones is insufficient for Traveling.
Apparently, someone in the past gathered Magic Stones from G-rank Monsters and tried it, but even the magic circle didn’t activate.
However, engraved tools are generated with the magic power of the one who generated them, so they are fundamentally different from Magic Stones.
That’s probably why they can be used for assistance.
Furthermore, with Faris as a successful example right before us, all eyes naturally turn to Yamato-kun.
“Ah, I’ll lend them to everyone too. But I don’t know if holding more than two is okay, so that will be part of the verification.”
“It’s enough.”
“Yeah. Most of us are being held back by one attribute anyway.”
“Just being able to get assistance for that is a great help.”
As everyone says.
I’m weak in Ice attribute magic, and it was holding me back when creating the Traveling magic circle.
Just by assisting with my weak attribute, it’s more than enough for us.
Afterward, including verification, Yamato-kun, Flam, Ludia, and Saya imbued their magic into four Multi Edges.
Unfortunately, it was found that the Multi Edge could only assist with one attribute at a time, but everyone was able to acquire Traveling, so the result is the best possible.
Admittedly, Arka apparently has a teleportation-inhibiting barrier, making teleportation impossible except via Transfer Stone Tablets or Gate Crystals. However, Arka originally belonged to Yamato-kun, and it is believed that the gods created Arka, so we have no intention of causing any unnecessary trouble.
But now, we can move long distances without having to go through Arka each time.
We don’t know if we’ll have the chance to use it in this war, but it’s a very useful magic for Hunters, allowing us to easily go to places other than our base cities.
The destinations registered in Stalerring were only cities and villages, but we can use it to go to places like wilderness or plains if we can clearly picture them, so its usage frequency will be high.
It can’t be used inside labyrinths, but that might be asking too much.
However, I feel that Yamato-kun or Mako-san might be able to figure something out for that as well.
