After dinner, I received an offer from my fiancé, Lord Yamato, to enroll in Memoria General Academy.
It seems that some royalty will be enrolling, and among them will be the sons and daughters of nobles from the northern part of Solemne, who are scheduled to become independent soon. This means that surveillance and guards will be necessary within the academy.
There are many minors in Wing Crest, and they have even evolved beyond High Class to Ancient Class. Therefore, Emperor Reinhardt stated that there would be no better candidates for either surveillance or guards.
Lord Yamato has also extended the offer of enrollment to myself and Sir Yuri.
Well, I don’t think it will be possible for Sir Yuri to enroll given his responsibilities in governing the Esmeralda Baronetcy.
“Since Lord Yamato and my sister will be acting as regents, and it’s my brother’s request, I will enroll as well.”
However, Sir Yuri decided to enroll without hesitation.
It is true that Lord Yamato and Mana-sama are assisting Sir Yuri, and since he is scheduled to return to Alka at night, he can still perform his essential duties even if he enrolls.
Even so, I feel like he shouldn’t have made such a hasty decision.
“Well, Yuri is also High Class, so I don’t think he’ll be easily harmed.”
“Besides, all the applicants are Normal Class. With so many people around us who are not only High Class but even Ancient Class, your perception must be dulled.”
“Ah, is that so?”
It seems that both Lady Prim and Lord Yamato had truly forgotten.
High Class individuals were rare, with only one in tens, and in the past, there were only two Ancient Class individuals.
However, since Lord Yamato and Lady Prim came to Feel, most of Wing Crest has evolved to High Class, and over ten people have evolved to Ancient Class.
I myself have evolved to High Victory, but it’s not something that normally happens easily. Even when it does, it’s usually in one’s late twenties or early thirties, isn’t it?
Therefore, it is not strange, but rather natural, that all applicants are Normal Class.
“Moreover, I am also interested. Aristocratic sons and daughters who are malicious, like the eldest son of Count Isturias, will inevitably appear. Whether we can successfully correct them, or at least improve them somewhat if not succeed, is something that, in a sense, may determine the future of the General Academy.”
I am not uninterested either, but based on what I’ve heard, that son, Larva Isturias, seems to be a typical Solemne noble, so I have a strong feeling that he will bring a lot of trouble.
However, I am also fine with enrolling.
Although I am registered as a Prister and a Hunter, upon evolving to High Class, I was granted Heavenly Successor Magic and Healing Magic, so I am considering registering as a Healer as well. I also have very little knowledge as a Hunter.
Wing Crest is an unusually special Union, so acquiring general Hunter knowledge will not be a disadvantage; in fact, it will be necessary.
The issue is that all applicants are Normal Class, which means I will have to adjust to those around me in combat training and practical training.
When I mentioned this, not only Lord Yamato, but everyone else gave a wry smile.
“There’s nothing we can do about that.”
“Especially in the first year, it will be the very basics, so the classes might be rather boring.”
Since the main purpose is guards and surveillance, I suppose that’s unavoidable.
Nevertheless, the basics are undoubtedly important, so I intend to attend classes diligently, even if they are boring.
“We’re not going to explicitly state that we’ve evolved, are we?”
“Those who know, know.”
“I assume it will be revealed eventually, but that’s another matter.”
The evolution to High Class, and even more so, the evolution to Ancient Class, if known to others, will undoubtedly bring about unnecessary problems.
The students alone cannot do anything about it, and while the royalty should also be aware, they are unlikely to do anything rash. However, arrogant nobles, upon hearing about it, will surely act.
Well, in that case, not only Wing Crest but also Emperor Reinhardt will likely intervene, and that noble house will suffer significant damage.
“Yuri and Aria will be enrolling, but what about Fiana?”
“I’m sorry, I will decline. I have no intention of registering for anything other than a Crafter, and I am being tutored by everyone else.”
Fiana will not be enrolling and will continue her studies?
Her Master is her older sister, Fina, her fiancé is Edward, and Marina, and she is also being taught by Lord Yamato, Flam, Ludia, and Mako.
She possesses not only top-quality materials but also many that are considered legendary, so it seems she truly doesn’t need to enroll.
“I expected Fiana to say that.”
“We are also studying, but at the General Academy, you won’t be studying under your Master. So, for Fiana, who has decided to become a blacksmith, it doesn’t seem very meaningful.”
That’s right, Fiana is aiming to become a blacksmith.
I heard she was recently promoted to B-rank Crafter, but I believe it’s only from S-rank Crafter that one can refine alloys. So, Fiana cannot do that yet.
However, in Wing Crest, they casually use alloys like Lapis Laz, which is comparable to Divine Metal, so it seems the meaning of enrolling diminishes even from that point alone.
“Considering the Lapis Laz, it’s understandable that Fiana won’t enroll.”
“Right. Then there’s Rebecca, Reina, and Seras. What about them?”
“We have no choice but to go!”
“That’s right.”
“There is no other option, Your Highness.”
Rebecca, Reina, and Seras will inevitably enroll since Raus and Carol are enrolling.
Well, there is no need to force enrollment, but Rebecca is of the same Ancient Class as Raus, so she was specifically requested by His Majesty. Reina and Seras are of an appropriate age, so there is no choice but to enroll.
“I do want to evolve too, but it’s tough to evolve before becoming an adult.”
“It really is.”
Raus replied with a sigh to Clara’s remark.
Clara is the same age as Lady Carol but rarely leaves the Crafting Hall in Alka.
The reason Raus and the others are enrolling is primarily for guarding and surveillance within the academy. Since they saw no purpose, similar to Fiana, they decided not to enroll.
Alka is an ideal environment for Crafters, with not only the facilities but also the materials available, so it’s understandable.
“Ah, speaking of which, what about the Butlers?”
“Butlers?”
“Well, even if Sir Yuri and Raus will commute from the Amistat Marquis Residence, most students will be boarding, right? It’s unlikely that noble young lords and ladies can live alone, so I was wondering if you might hire Butlers.”
I hadn’t considered Edward’s question until he brought it up.
There are eight nobles participating in Wing Crest who have been ennobled as Tenchaku: Lord Yamato, Mana-sama, Sir Yuri, Lady Rika, the head of a Marquis family, Lady Carol, the daughter of a Duke, Lady Seras, and Lady Prim, who was formerly a Duke’s daughter, along with her mother, Lady Apricot.
However, all of them can take care of themselves, so it completely slipped my mind.
“I think they should be able to handle that themselves, but since it might lead to hiring Butlers, in that case, you’d have to rent a room in Memoria instead of boarding at the dormitory.”
“Dormitory rooms are for one person, and there’s no accommodation prepared for Butlers. Our stance is that if you have any complaints, including the school rules, you don’t have to enroll.”
That’s quite a strong stance.
The school rules state that status does not apply even to royalty and nobles, and the Guild is fundamentally a world of merit. It seems they intend to enforce this from the student level.
In the event of expulsion, they will be reported to the Guild as a blacklist candidate, and in the worst-case scenario, they could be expelled from the Guild. This serves as an opportunity to teach them that demanding privilege based on their status will not be tolerated.
“You’re right, Aria. It occasionally causes problems even in Amister, so with applicants from other countries, it will definitely become an issue.”
“If they are expelled and, out of resentment, attack a teacher or hire someone to attack them, they will be turned into criminal slaves without question, regardless of whether they are minors. Of course, their families will also be held accountable.”
“I see, so that’s how you protect the teachers.”
“If not, no one would want to become a teacher.”
In other words, a law to protect the teachers will also be enacted simultaneously with the opening of the school.
It is true that even commoners can be wealthy, and nobles even more so. Therefore, protecting the teachers is indeed necessary.
“Therefore, while it’s not a problem for Viola, Yuria, Laurel, and File to accompany them as maids, the four of them are already registered as Butlers and have passed several exams. Whether they enroll is another matter.”
“Right. Unless the four of them want to take any particular classes, they won’t enroll and will accompany them as maids.”
After hearing the explanations from Lord Yamato and Edward, the four Butlers, having no particular subjects they wished to study, declined enrollment.
Furthermore, Laurel decided to remain, believing that the departure of four Butlers would cause problems in managing the safe houses in Alka and Feel.
Therefore, File will accompany Seras to the General Academy as her maid.
“Hmm, thinking about it this way, should we perhaps try to contract with a few more Butlers?”
“I wonder. Feel originally has few Butlers, and Esmeralda Tenchaku Residence is also a bit short. If we prioritize, I think that would be it.”
“Yes. Ah, why not hire a chef? Not only for Esmeralda Tenchaku Residence, but nobles almost always hire several.”
Instead of Butlers, hiring chefs, is that it?
However, as Sir Yuri mentioned, Alka does not hire chefs. Meals are prepared by the Butlers, Rella, who manages Hinomoto Mansion, and Shili, the leader of the Homunculi.
Therefore, I think hiring a chef is a good idea. The chef hired for the wedding reception held at Alka previously expressed a strong desire to be hired again.
The ingredients at Alka are mainly monsters hunted by Lord Yamato and the others, so they naturally include many high-ranking monsters. The facilities at Hinomoto Mansion are also comparable to those of a royal castle, which is a significant factor for chefs, creating a dream environment for them.
“Ah, speaking of chefs, I meant to hire one, but I completely forgot.”
“You forgot?”
“Well, a lot has happened recently, so it just slipped my mind…”
Of course, a lot has happened.
Not just recently, but since Lord Yamato transferred to the Helios Orb, it’s been a whirlwind of events.
I’ve only heard about some of it, but even so, it’s an incredible story, so it’s understandable that Lord Yamato would forget.
“Hiring a chef is a good idea, but if they are high-ranked, they usually have their own establishments or are already employed by someone, so it’s not simply a matter of their wishes.”
“It would also make things difficult for Rella.”
“I’ve considered that. I’m not dissatisfied with the current food situation, and it seems Rella and Shili aren’t particularly burdened. So, I’m thinking of hiring a skilled C-rank or B-rank chef.”
High-ranked chefs often have a certain social standing, and they also have age and pride.
Especially their pride, which would likely be more of a hindrance than a help when hiring for Wing Crest.
In that case, it would be better to hire a lower-ranked chef and allow them to gradually move up in rank.
Their cooking skills should also improve with instruction from Shili and Rella.
“I see, that does seem like a better approach.”
“Wing Crest is a young Union. In terms of fostering future generations, the Crafter’s Guild would also welcome that approach.”
Indeed, as Lady Carol mentioned, Wing Crest has only been established for a little over a year.
If someone with excessive pride joins, they might try to control things from within in the worst-case scenario.
While respecting elders is natural, it’s not unconditional. If things become too extreme, expulsion may be necessary.
Although Wing Crest is mostly made up of internal members, we still want to avoid avoidable problems.
Thus, Lord Yamato is reassured by everyone’s agreement.
As for chefs, that is something we can only find out by visiting the Crafter’s Guild. We’ve decided to go soon.
Given it’s the local area, we’ll start with Feel.
