Helios Orb Chronicle – Chapter 505

Side: Mako

With the Sacred Wing Agatholam generated and enveloped in Wing Burst, I freely soared through the sky, activating Starlight Circle towards the Demise Species Phoenix.

The Phoenix was engulfed in crimson flames, a true bird of fire. In addition to its original wings, it had gained two more pairs, making it four in total, when it evolved into a Demise Species. It was fast, and could easily escape the domain, making it difficult to capture even with its colossal body exceeding 10 meters.

But this was all within expectation. No matter how fast it was, as a bird-type Monster, its movements were predictable. With four wings, it might have been able to make sharp turns, but judging from its evasive maneuvers against Starlight Circle, it seemed to have only recently evolved. It was true that it seemed to have evolved after the Divine Emperor landed, so it was indeed recent. That’s why, even though it was a Demise Species, I didn’t feel the same level of threat as I would from a Slume Lord or Hanuman.

“Maoh, I’m using it.”

Immediately, I deployed Silverio Disaster, which I had received from Maoh, in a spherical formation around the Phoenix. Like Maoh, I also had an aptitude for wide-area attacks, but my strength was inferior to hers, so I deployed Field Cosmos on the outside as a precaution. As expected, even the Phoenix couldn’t break through this, and it immediately turned its attention to me.

However, Silverio Disaster also had a technique that rained down silver, so even the Phoenix couldn’t evade it all, nor could it evaporate the silver. The silver rain that poured down on its entire body covered the Phoenix’s form, transforming it into a silver statue. Maoh might have been able to defeat it with just this, but I didn’t have that much power yet. So, I expanded Agatholam and activated Dian Kecht, a light-attribute myth-class tactical wide-area interference target system. The rain of light, falling just like the silver rain, pierced the Phoenix’s body, which was in the process of becoming a silver statue. Pushed by the impact, the Phoenix was slammed into the ground. It writhed for a moment before finally ceasing its movements. As the silver peeled away, it ceased to move permanently.

“As expected, myth-class is amazing, but Silverio Disaster has comparable strength, doesn’t it?”

Though I had successfully defeated the Phoenix, I couldn’t help but wonder if I had needed to use Dian Kecht. After all, by the time it was turning into a silver statue due to Silverio Disaster, the Phoenix was already close to its last breath. However, I still couldn’t fully master Silverio Disaster, and more importantly, I was facing a Demise Species. Overkill or not, I had to defeat it definitively, because I didn’t know what might happen otherwise. That’s why I used Dian Kecht, but in retrospect, it was more than just overkill.

“Its wings are tattered, but at least they’re not completely destroyed, I suppose.”

Also, since I wasn’t proficient enough to control the power of both Silverio Disaster and Dian Kecht precisely, I didn’t know if I could defeat it cleanly enough to use as material. About half of its body seemed unusable, and another third was tattered but had usable parts, which was fortunate.

“Storage complete. As for Yamato… it looks like he’s finished over there too.”

After storing the Phoenix in my Inventory, I turned my gaze towards Yamato’s direction. His battle had already ended. Ouroboros was in pieces, but from the perspective of materials, that was also ruined. Judging by its state, he probably used Blau Solaris’s myth-class technique Maha Jarg, but to see it so utterly disintegrated, it would be difficult to use its leather as material.

“Rex and the others… it looks like they’re almost done there too. They really work well together.”

Next, I shifted my gaze to Rex and the others. They were striking down the fallen Sleipnir with swords, while Saya unleashed magic. Perhaps it was thanks to training from Asuka and Maoh, but all four of them had created new Unique Magics, and they were being utilized effectively, making their efforts worthwhile.

“Agatholam, do you know how many Monsters are left?”
“Approximately, perhaps around 3,000.”

When I asked Agatholam about the remaining numbers, I received that reply. The Monsters that had been besieging Kobaldia numbered close to 10,000, and almost all of them had been heading towards us, so that meant we had defeated more than half. There were many An and Catastrophe Species, but not all of them, and the majority seemed to be High Class Species. Depending on their Monster Rank, many of them were originally familiars or summoned beasts, and for those, even a High Class individual could defeat them easily. That’s probably why their numbers have decreased so much in such a short time. However, the Barrier that had covered Kobaldia was already gone, so we couldn’t rely on Barriers for this fight either. And there seemed to be many injured individuals, so it seemed I should switch to healing.

“Agatholam, isn’t Ria Fal a wide-area recovery technique?”
“Precisely, it’s a technique that enhances self-healing power within a domain. By layering the Master’s magic, further recovery power can be achieved.”

Ria Fal, a light-attribute myth-class wide-area support defense system, is a technique that can be used by both Agatholam and Blau Solaris. However, my aptitude for support and defense is higher than Yamato’s, so I would be more effective using it. And if I can layer healing magic on top of that, Yamato probably won’t be able to use it. I don’t know how much Magic Power it consumes, but the possibility of extending Extra Healing to a wider area is significant.

“Does that mean Extra Healing can also be applied?”
“It is possible. While I cannot say for certain as it has not been performed, your Magic Power should not be depleted.”

Then, I’ll try it later. Extra Healing can regenerate even lost limbs, but it can only heal one person at a time. If multiple people can be healed simultaneously, it would be significant both in terms of magic power and effort. Of course, it’s more accurate to examine the wound first, but Agatholam should be able to compensate for that. After all, my Magical Tool, Spirit Hexa Dipper, is a specialized multi-attribute living type, so Agatholam should have considerable processing capabilities.

With that thought, I decided to return to Emperor Reinhardt’s location.

Side: Yamato

Holding Blau Solaris, with its blade separated into shorter pieces, in my left hand, I kept the rest floating behind me. Then, drawing Hihishirokane Sword – Amaterasu with my right hand, I enveloped myself in Wing Burst and confronted Ouroboros.

Ouroboros could be described as a giant winged serpent. However, its scales were white, and it didn’t emit any poisonous fog, making it hard to believe it was a Monster that had evolved from the Catastrophe Species Des Crimson. Viper species originally possess poison, so Ouroboros undoubtedly had it, but unlike Calamity Species, it wasn’t emitting poisonous fog. It might start doing so later, or it might have other methods, so it should be dealt with quickly.

“Father, I’m using it!”

With those words, I activated Mist Rebellion, inherited from my father. It covers the domain with fog, and when inhaled, it expands the blood vessels inside the body, causing them to rupture. Furthermore, it’s a target-type technique, meaning creatures set as outside the target are unaffected, no matter how much fog they inhale, which is an incredible technique. This time, only Ouroboros is within the domain, but there’s a possibility someone could accidentally wander in, so I’ve made sure to designate only Ouroboros.

Enveloped by Mist Rebellion’s domain, Ouroboros paused for a moment at the sudden fog, but immediately began moving towards me. However, simultaneously, it spewed a large amount of blood from its body and writhed in agony. I can’t afford to waste time here, as my precision isn’t perfect yet, so I’ll finish it all at once!

Next, I activated Maha Jarg, Blau Solaris’s light-attribute myth-class tactical wide-area attack target system. I returned Blau Solaris to its original sword-ring shape, held it in my hand again, enveloped it in light to form a halo, and then generated countless such halos. And then, I unleashed these countless generated halos, which could be called Bunties of Blau Solaris, attacking from all directions. This is the complete form of the Maha Jarg technique.

Ouroboros, its internal blood vessels destroyed by Mist Rebellion, was cut into pieces by Maha Jarg with no means to resist, and its life ended.

“Master, from a material perspective, wasn’t that method of defeat problematic?”
“…Don’t say it. I realized I messed up too.”

Even Blau Solaris chided me, but I think cutting it into pieces was excessive. Even for leatherwork, it’s questionable if a cloak could be made from it.

“Maha Jarg is more brutal than I thought.”
“I won’t deny it, but isn’t Mist Rebellion also quite something? As expected of something developed by your father.”
“Well, I guess.”

In fact, my father defeated Nidh with Mist Rebellion. Ouroboros might have been defeatable too, but if I had taken too long, there was a possibility of unnecessary casualties. Most importantly, Ouroboros still had the energy to fight, so I couldn’t afford to make any mistakes in finishing it. That’s why I used Maha Jarg, but by ruining the materials, it was counterproductive in a sense. I didn’t come here for material hunting, and I didn’t expect a Demise Species to be here in the first place, so that’s some consolation.

“Still, this is the second time I’ve used it against a Demise Species, and it’s truly amazing.”
“What is?”
“Engraving Divine Artifacts. I might have been able to win without using it, but it would have taken time, and it’s not unlikely that I would have been injured. I know Engraving Divine Artifacts are amazing from watching Father and Mother, but I honestly didn’t expect them to be this powerful. Well, since I received Mist Rebellion from Father, my admiration is halved.”

My father also mentioned it, didn’t he? Engraving Magical Tools greatly enhance the abilities of their creators, but Engraving Divine Artifacts go even further. When an Engraving Magical Tool is created, the innate engravings are activated, and even without the tool, a craftsman’s spell precision and strength are higher than ordinary mages. On top of that, they create the Magical Tool, so they are said to be unmatched by anyone else but the creator. Engraving Divine Artifacts are even beyond that, so their scale, precision, and strength might be not just different, but on a completely different order of magnitude. Well, even without that, I don’t think I could possibly beat my father or mother.

“Master, the three designated Monsters have all been defeated. The remaining ones are their subordinates, but a large number are still attacking.”
“Oh, Rex and the others also managed to defeat them safely.”

I glanced in Mako’s and Rex’s directions, and indeed, both battles were over. Mako seemed to have already returned to Emperor Reinhardt’s side, while Rex and the others were storing Sleipnir. It’s a bit late to mention now, but the Demise Species Sleipnir was not an eight-legged horse as sung in Norse mythology, but a four-legged horse like a normal horse. However, it has horns and wings, so perhaps its name is just the same as the divine horse in Norse mythology.

“Then, let’s quickly defeat the remaining Monsters, though there are still an incredible number of them!”
“Indeed. I am quite invigorated by being able to fight such a large number of Monsters.”
“It might be a stretch to call it a sword, but it’s a Weapon, so it’s meant to be fought with, right?”
“Precisely. Agatholam probably believes so as well.”

Engraving Divine Artifacts and Engraving Magical Tools, though often far from actual weapons in appearance, are fundamentally treated as Weapons. Moreover, Blau Solaris is a holy sword, and swords were originally created for fighting, so it’s natural for Blau Solaris to feel that way. I can’t understand a sword’s feelings, though. However, we need to annihilate them quickly, so I’ll return to Emperor Reinhardt’s side once and then go hunt Monsters.
