## Side: Mako

A week has passed since I received the hull for the multi-functional beast carriage from the Crafter’s Guild as an option, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive, though it quickly subsided.

Perhaps because they haven’t seen the actual product yet, I suspect the excitement will reignite once it’s actually put to use.

Since our usual travel needs are met by the traveling, we haven’t used it yet.

So, if it reignites, it will be some time from now, and perhaps not until the hull for the Celestial Emperor’s Family is completed.

That, in itself, doesn’t really bother me.

As November draws to a close today, I’ve come to Memoria General Academy for a class.

I’m also a part-time lecturer, and starting in the spring, I’ll be taking on several classes for Hunters and Healers.

Since I’m part-time, it’s only once or twice a month, but any more than that would incur an exorbitant amount for my compensation.

The compensation for part-time lecturers is a maximum of 30,000 El for Normal Class, 100,000 El for High Class, and 200,000 El for Ancient Class, with an additional equal amount for individual skill bonuses.

Since I am both an Element Hunter and an Element Healer, my daily compensation is 300,000 El, plus 300,000 El each for Hunter and Healer skills, totaling a maximum of 900,000 El.

It’s excessively high, but if I were to refuse, it would cause trouble for others, so I can’t decline.

Well, the skill bonuses don’t start until April, but even so, 300,000 El a day is an extraordinary amount.

Therefore, I teach my classes with utmost diligence.

So today, at Memoria General Academy, I am conducting a class on Healers.

The dates and times for my part-time classes are set in advance, but since there are only first-year students at the moment, I hold my classes in the lecture hall every time.

The number of students is quite large, but since I’ve done this several times already, I’m getting used to it.

The reason I was called this time is that I am an Element Healer and a Maternity Healer, and I am also the one who personally demonstrated the spells “Echoing” and “Breaching.”

Therefore, when the first class on Maternity Healers was to be held, I was the one they called.

However, I always feel that the students who have already decided on their career paths are not really listening intently.

Students aspiring to be Healers listen from the front row, and those who are undecided are in the middle rows.

Although only about two months have passed, it seems they have not grown at all.

“I have something to discuss with you, so come to the faculty room after class. Understood?”

“Yes…”

Just like on Earth, I doubt this much will lead to true repentance.

However, I must reprimand them, and above all, I cannot tolerate them continuing to look down on Healers.

Like childbirth, it’s a profession they’ll likely rely on often as Hunters.

I later heard that those Hunter students were not only ignoring the Healer class but also not paying attention in classes for Traders, Scholars, and even Priests, and recently, they’ve even started openly criticizing them after class.

After Mako’s class, the Hunters who hadn’t been paying attention were taken to the faculty room by Mako.

Mako returned late that day, but it seems that after the scolding, she made them fight a Goblin Queen using MARS.

Initially, Mako took on the Goblin Queen’s attacks, but they couldn’t inflict any damage on the Queen. After that, she had them fight her head-on several times, breaking their pride.

The Goblin Queen is an S- to C-rank monster, equivalent to a P-rank monster. For Ancient Class, it’s a relatively easy solo hunt, and for High Class, it’s considered manageable for a pair of experienced individuals.

There are also past records of Normal Class hunters defeating them, so even at their level, they should have been able to inflict some damage. Yet, remaining completely unharmed proved that their skills as Hunters were below even their level designation.

“Still, they weren’t convinced, saying it was MARS. Honestly, I think those kids are hopeless.”

“There are quite a few Hunters close to High Class who think that way. They’re not even getting injured, and restarting the fights is easy, so they might be treating it like a game.”

“That’s plausible.”

Perhaps they’re treating MARS as a game, or as a plaything, and therefore can’t effectively utilize it in actual combat.

“Huh? Mako isn’t fighting them aren’t you?”

“I didn’t even feel like it. First of all, they assumed that because I’m a mage, I could be defeated in close combat.”

No wonder Mako seemed a bit displeased when she returned.

While it’s true that many mages struggle in close combat, she’s an Element Human, so even hundreds of Normal Class individuals wouldn’t be able to touch her, let alone inflict a scratch.

Besides, Mako has defeated numerous monsters in close combat, including Anomaly Species and Catastrophe Species.

To think of winning against someone like that in close combat isn’t just overconfidence; it’s pure delusion.

The academy’s purpose is to provide options for students who are undecided about which guild to register with.

That’s why a certain number of adults are allowed to enroll, but for those who have already registered with a guild and are actively participating, enrolling in the academy doesn’t hold much meaning.

Like us, they are already active as Hunters, so frankly, I don’t understand why they enrolled.

“I suspect they mistook it for a chance to get practical training and spar with Yamato and the others.”

“Besides, although I’ve given lectures a few times, I’m not even a part-time lecturer.”

For those who are already active in guilds, the purpose of enrolling is to learn more about their respective guilds.

For Hunters especially, the academy offers simulated combat using MARS, player-vs-player battles, and the monster hunting practical training held in autumn. There are also classes on monsters, making it worthwhile not only for rookies but also for Hunters up to B-rank.

Furthermore, Mako accepts requests a few times a month as a part-time lecturer for Healer and Hunter classes, and Yamato also makes appearances as the husband of the Marquisate of Amatista’s Lord. So, if you’re lucky, you might even get to spar with them.

Since there are only two Element Class individuals, Yamato and Mako, you might be able to.

Ah, Prim also seems to be recovering, and she mentioned she plans to aim for evolution into Element Foxy in earnest after the new year.

“Just to be clear, I won’t be fighting them.”

“It’s understandable not to feel like fighting those who disrespect you. I don’t think you need to force yourself.”

“I agree with that. So, just once, I will fight them. If that’s still not enough, they’ll be left alone, and depending on their conduct, they’ll be expelled.”

That seems to be the case.

But if Yamato agrees to fight them, even just once, won’t they get cocky?
