Immediately after Yamato’s Ice Edge Javelin, which signaled the start of the battle, Prim donned her Extreme Flame Wing and unleashed a Flare Tornado.
Yamato, in response, plunged another Ice Edge Javelin into the Flare Tornado.
The Flame Tornado, now a Layered Magic called Pyroclassic Ice Blade by Yamato and Prim, was a magic of opposing elements, fire and ice, with extremely low-temperature ice blades flying amidst swirling flames.
Normally, this would be impossible, but by making the quality of their Magic Power equal, they didn’t cancel each other out, and instead, seemed to generate a synergistic effect.
Perhaps because of this, as soon as the ice blades hit, flames erupted from the wounds, instantly incinerating the demons.
“Prim, I’ll leave the rest to you.”
“Understood. Yamato, go and get your revenge!”
“I know.”
She wasn’t called Yamato’s first wife for nothing; their coordination had reached divine levels.
Lately, due to work, they had fewer opportunities to fight together, but the fact that they still made time to create Layered Magic meant they were a good match in many ways.
I also created Layered Magic with Yamato, but unfortunately, it incorporates Summoning Magic, so it’s truly regrettable that I can’t use it this time.
Not just myself, but Ludia and I had also created Layered Magic to be used by the three of us, so that one is unusable as well.
“I’ll descend a bit and provide support for both sides. I have a bad feeling about this.”
“Don’t say such ominous things.”
Mako’s words, saying she would provide support in the middle between the sky and the ground, when I thought she would descend to the ground like Yamato, were nothing short of ominous.
If Mako has a bad feeling, it means something truly terrible might happen.
Even if it’s just Mako’s unfounded worry, there’s no way we can afford to be less than vigilant.
“Mako’s bad feeling really is scary. What is it?”
“I don’t know at all. I can only describe it as a vague premonition. I feel like I might have experienced something similar, but it also feels a little different.”
“I sense an unknown Magic Power emanating from the central castle. It is likely related to that.”
Agatholam added to my statement, but that did not serve as a source of relief; it merely increased our anxieties.
“What is this unknown Magic Power?”
“It is undoubtedly a stagnant Magic Power, but I can only say its details are unknown. However, leaving it unchecked will likely bring no good.”
“In other words, after we defeat the Divine Emperor, we’ll have to go to the castle and investigate what that is.”
This was a really troublesome development at this critical juncture.
Given that Agatholam, an Engraving Divine Artifact, said so, there was no way we could ignore it.
“It’s troublesome, but if Agatholam says so, we have no choice but to go. Their Majesties will likely not object either.”
Of course.
Objecting here would leave not just a root of disaster, but something far worse. Even if it were just Mako and Agatholam’s unfounded worry, choosing not to go was impossible.
“Then, to confirm whether that premonition is correct or not, we need to finish this quickly!”
“I agree with Ludia. Fortunately, the enemies in the sky have been significantly reduced thanks to the Layered Magic of Yamato and Prim.”
“I agree too. Rex, could you please have the Ritters and Hunters descend to the ground from here on? I’m going to get serious.”
“Is that permitted? Well, the premonition felt by Lady Mako is indeed ominous, so I understand wanting to not waste time, but…”
“There are more demons on the ground, and about half of the deployed Ritters are there. In either case, it’s impossible for everyone to fight demons.”
There were a total of 1,000 Ritters participating this time, but due to the discovery of pregnancies, a considerable number had withdrawn with their husbands, and some had also been injured in the recent battle. Some also lost the will to fight due to their extreme aversion to Chimeras, but even so, the number of combat-capable individuals was close to 700. The Wing of Order also needed guarding, so the number of deployed Ritters was just under 400. However, there were no more than 200 demons on the ground, or 300 at most, so we had the advantage in numbers. Furthermore, almost all of the Hunters had been deployed, so we could judge that we had the advantage not just in quantity, but also in quality. Given that, and Mako’s premonition, we truly couldn’t let our guard down. Plus, there’s the existence of the Four Divine Beast Armies besides the White Tiger. While I don’t think the Four Divine Beast Armies would actually appear, we still couldn’t be certain, so caution was necessary.
“Understood. Then, to all Ritters and Hunters. Leave the demons in the sky to the Wing Crest, and from now on, we will launch an attack on the demons on the ground! This will be the final battle! All personnel, be invigorated!”
Rex, sword in hand, roared his command as he descended, followed by the Hunters and Ritters, who raised a war cry and looked formidable. Well then, let’s go for it!
I released the connection of the Flare Edge Sword in my hand and imbued the blade with Light attribute magic, then layered on Thunder attribute magic. Using Ice attribute magic on the blade, I peeled off ice from it, increasing its numbers with each swing. Using Wind attribute magic, I unleashed these ice blades all at once. The ice blades, reflecting the light, pierced the demons one after another, emitting a rainbow of colors, while the Thunder attribute magic scorched them from within. The new Unique Magic, Diamond Rainbow Dust, was designed to be usable even with my power alone, but it was originally a magic that borrowed the power of summoned beasts, so as I expected, its power had decreased. Well, like Thousand Stream, it was a magic conceived for times like these, and the reduction in power was within expectations, so I’ll consider it acceptable.
“I’m coming too!”
Ludia, with blades extended from her Flare Grapples infused with Fire and Thunder attribute magic, moved three-dimensionally using Flying, Scaffolding, and Accelerating Magic, slicing through demons and Chimeras one after another. Actually, upon closer inspection, she was also infusing her leg blades with magic. To slice with a kick, she’s truly skillful. But if the Gre also had blades, it would certainly broaden the scope of combat, I wonder if I should try it? Well, I’ll think about that when I get back.
Mina defended against the demons’ attacks with her Wide Mirror Shield, and behind her, Flam took down the demons in a group with Tidal Disaster. Athena, with her own Unique Magic, Glacial Lancer, imbued her Crystallite Spear with Earth and Ice attribute magic to form a giant lance, impaling demons and Chimeras alike.
“This is the end!”
And as a finishing blow, Prim’s Unique Magic, Silver Ray Penetrator, pierced the demons and Chimeras, leaving afterimages, and incinerating them simultaneously. Prim, after piercing the last demon along with its Chimera, returned, scanning her surroundings, but her White Flame Wing was not dispelled. The White Flame Wing was newly completed and used many attribute magics. Therefore, its Magic Power consumption was high, but the fact that she didn’t dispel it meant Prim might also be sensing something.
“Prim, are you alright?”
“For the most part. But I seem okay, so I’ll revert to my Extreme Flame Wing for now.”
“Understood, don’t push yourself too hard.”
“Of course.”
The Extreme Flame Wing was a Wing Armor Magic and Unique Magic that Prim created soon after meeting Yamato, and it had already become her signature. Prim could use it with the same sense of ease as breathing, she said.
“Well then, Mana, shall we descend as well?”
“Yes. The Ritters and Hunters are fighting demons and Chimeras, and Yamato has already begun fighting the Divine Emperor. It truly feels like the final phase, so we should go too.”
“Understood.”
“Yes.”
“Okay.”
“Mhm.”
The battle situation was advantageous for us on all fronts. The Ritters and Hunters were continuously defeating the demons, and Chimeras were being eliminated as top priority. Since the Chimeras were of species we had encountered on the way, it was a significant advantage that countermeasures were somewhat understood. Yamato, for his part, was flying around freely in his battle against the Divine Emperor, making himself difficult to target. This fighting style was apparently used in the Linea battle as well, but when the Divine Emperor used Engraving Magic, he was forced to stop, and an ambush by Blood Ruby Dragon took advantage of that opening, slamming him into the ground. Naturally, he would be aware of that, but Yamato was probably aiming to get back at him for that. He had been acting as if he didn’t care, but in reality, he was quite bothered by it. Well, it can’t be helped. However, Yamato, while getting revenge is fine, if you focus solely on that, you might end up repeating the same mistake as last time. Admittedly, there are no Dragons like the Blood Ruby Dragon this time, and Chimeras are being eliminated with priority, but there’s no way the Divine Emperor doesn’t have a trump card up his sleeve.
Worrying about Yamato’s safety, we hurried towards the ground.
