Last night was about dealing with bothersome situations rather than unpleasant ones.

I wanted to drown my sorrows in drink to forget about it, but unfortunately, I had work the next day, so I couldn’t.

“You knew I was staying here.”

The fact that she was at the breakfast table suggested she had a lively conversation with Suella last night after a long time.

“Keiri.”

“Yes, yes, I know.”

Looking at a slightly tired Suella, I concluded she had likely been on the receiving end of a one-sided rant. Well, that was fine too.

“Regarding the selection of participants for the marriage hunting party, Amili-san will provide information, so let’s put that on hold for now. For those who wish to participate, we’ll take a passive approach for the time being.”

Since she was present at breakfast, I decided to bring up some work matters, though it was a bit impolite.

As for the materials, Memoria’s family’s Toris Trading Company is lending a hand, significantly shortening the work and time frame compared to the initial plan.

“Things are going smoothly over there. That’s good. What about securing researchers? And farmers too?”

“The progress on that front is steady. We have enough candidates for practical work and are currently selecting them. It depends on that which will determine if we are delayed or ahead of schedule.”

Second, securing personnel and facilities for the herbal gardens and potion production workshop to be built within the dungeon.

At this point, this could be considered the lifeline of my dungeon. Therefore, I’m being very selective with personnel and implementing thorough counter-espionage measures, which is why progress is as slow as a snail’s pace.

Roughly speaking, it’s less than thirty percent complete.

We have assembled a basic set of personnel, but we are short of the required number.

It would be no laughing matter to have incompetent individuals mistaken for spies from elsewhere. We must proceed with caution on this matter.

“Hmm, well, that’s Muil-san and Mura-kun’s job, isn’t it?”

The thought of having to negotiate separately from the Japanese government makes my stomach churn, but it’s a necessary undertaking.

Suella said that with a calm expression, without revealing the circumstances. Keiri-san, who likely sensed the general situation, probably saw it as a bonus if she could get a “yes.”

She quickly shifted to a joking tone and resumed eating the breakfast prepared by Himik.

“Also, there’s a change in schedule. I need to go out this weekend. Can you make the arrangements?”

And so, I confided in Keiri-san about the fourth task, which is currently the most important. Therefore, when I go out, I must file proper applications with all relevant parties and be accompanied by bodyguards.

“Ah, I believe it’s best to finish Amili-san’s request as soon as possible.”

As if to break the atmosphere, Suella clapped her hands once.

“Alright! Let’s discuss work matters at work. Yukiera and Sachiera have woken up!”

Her timing for changing the mood was perfect. Suella smiled gently and quietly rose from her seat.

Simultaneously, the cheerful cries of my children echoed. It seemed I would be able to see my energetic children before heading to work.

“Keiri-san, how about you?”

“Hmm, will they cry when they see me?”

“They’re already crying, so it won’t make much of a difference.”

“That’s true.”

When I invited Keiri-san, she hesitated for a moment, but sensing the joyful crying, she seemed to resign herself to it and agreed to come along.

Her willingness to join in and her frequent talk about children led me to believe she’s fond of them. When I frankly expressed this thought, she shot me a sharp glare.

She seemed displeased with my words. This exchange happened as we followed Suella to the children’s bedroom.

She proudly declared that she used to take care of children.

“You mean you used force to silence them and declared yourself the ringleader?”

“Jiro-kun, if you want me to have a child suddenly fall ill from psychological shock, you can say so without hesitation, you know?”

“I’m sorry, that was my fault.”

“Good, good.”

“Come on, what are you two doing?”

My imagination conjured an image of Keiri-san teaching children about power dynamics, and I couldn’t help but say it. This almost escalated into a situation that could cause significant damage to the organization’s operations. I hastily apologized, and Keiri-san nodded condescendingly, making it unclear who the superior was.

Suella watched our exchange with an exasperated look. In her arms were Yukiera and Sachiera, who had just woken up and were fussing. Tiny spirits fluttered near them.

“They’re as cute as ever. It’s good they resemble their mother.”

“Their eyes look like Jiro-san’s, though.”

Keiri-san was the first to react, her smile intensifying as she leaned closer to Yukiera and Sachiera. I was a step behind, only able to watch the two of them interact with my children.

“Overall, they really do resemble Suella.”

Smiling brightly, I observed my children. The two sleepy children moved their small hands towards their eyes, slowly opening them and looking at Keiri-san.

“Ah, but you’re right, their eyes do look like Jiro-kun’s.”

“See?”

Keiri-san, seemingly convinced upon seeing their eyes, gently stroked Yukiera’s head and said, “You’re so cute.”

“Yes, they’re my pride and joy.”

It was an exchange between best friends, carrying an unspoken sense of boundary. Ultimately, I only had five minutes to interact with my daughters before leaving for work, realizing that my time with them had been cut short compared to usual.
