I have never participated in a marriage hunting party before.
Given my previous job, that’s understandable.
While I might be making excuses, I was so focused on work that I simply didn’t have the time.
Even back then, I wanted a girlfriend, but I was completely trapped in negative thinking, deciding it was better to sleep on my days off than to go out without any free time.
The reason for my downfall was not escaping the environment that prevented me from thinking about dating someone in a normal way.
Even so, I did yearn for a warm family.
Thanks to that, my desire for marriage remained, but I couldn’t find a way to meet the person I would marry, which shows how much of a black company my previous company was.
Group dates? Dating apps? What are those?
Therefore, I have never experienced a marriage hunting party, a place for seeking marriage.
However.
“I can confidently say this is not a normal marriage hunting party.”
Even with my limited experience, I can sense that this marriage hunting party is unusual.
A special venue built by the Giant race overnight.
The venue, inspired by the open garden of a certain noble who prefers outdoor parties, is elegantly arranged with luminous flowers and charming gazebos, creating a fantasy-like atmosphere.
Despite the excellent environment, my impression upon observing the scene from the side of the platform, the only place that overlooks the venue, is this.
“That’s probably it. The atmosphere is as if we’re about to start a war.”
Beside me stands Kirie-san, who is co-organizing the event with me.
Both of us maintain serious expressions, but inwardly, we are filled with anxiety about what’s to come.
On the left side of my vision, the female group, led by Keiri-san, stands in what looks like a war between East and West.
On the right, a young man, looking proud with his arms crossed and chest puffed out, leads a group of men.
“Kirie-san, I imagined a more peaceful start…”
“What a coincidence, Jiro-. I also envisioned a more harmonious beginning.”
It’s obvious that Keiri-san and that man are glaring at each other.
The start time is just moments away. Normally, there should be an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation, but the opposite is emanating.
If this were a war between Isal and the Demon Lord’s Army, this atmosphere would be appropriate, but for a gathering aiming to build friendly relations, it’s entirely unsuitable.
“Was arriving early a mistake?”
“No, I don’t think so.”
It’s a difficult start from the outset.
It was good that I, along with a few other women and Kirie-san, picked her up from the shuttle bus and guided her to the venue, but after a brief greeting, the atmosphere became one of mutual probing. Except for a few, there’s a general sense of distance among the people from different worlds.
Well, not all the women are human. Some have pointed ears, horns on their heads, wings for hands, or scales on their faces.
I don’t have any prejudice about that, so it’s not a problem, but I can see how some people might be put off.
I intended to place the women around the venue to welcome them and build friendly relations, but…
“Then, why has it turned out like this?”
“Actually, this time, we gathered people based on their character rather than their family lineage. Therefore, many of them don’t hold significant positions within their households. Only a few are eldest sons, and even then, they are often sons of concubines. So, when it comes to arranged marriages, there’s a custom of prioritizing children with stronger bloodlines within the family, leading them to be postponed.”
As I was thinking this was a bad start, Kirie-san slowly began to explain.
The start time is approaching.
Normally, we’d be able to engage in casual conversation by now, but if things continue like this, it will start with an awkward atmosphere.
“So, in other words?”
“The men gathered here are excellent in both personality and appearance, but over ninety percent… no, almost all of them have never dated a woman. We’ve assembled personnel who are potentially suitable as sons-in-law, so we’ve gathered sincere men with little dating experience.”
“…Is that the cause?”
The cause was gathering a group with no dating experience and low relationship levels. Wait a minute.
I had meticulously filled out all sorts of information regarding their education, work history, hobbies, and stated that they had no prior marriage. I never expected such a pitfall in those profiles.
The source of my bad feeling wasn’t Keiri-san’s pep talk, but overlooking this fact.
This might be my first marriage hunting party, and the hurdle of “people from another world” is already high.
I understand that not gathering overly experienced men is to emphasize sincerity.
While there’s always a risk of infidelity, I’m still worried about pitting inexperienced daters against beautiful women from another world.
“They seem to be struggling with how to approach the women.”
“Don’t you have women in your organization as well? Don’t they just naturally form relationships?”
“Unfortunately, it’s a traditional organization. The women in positions of power are either backed by a god, like myself, or are of pure blood as miko, due to their family background.”
“Ah, I see.”
“Yes, that’s right.”
The Japan Shiju Jutsu Association, which carries on Japanese traditions in various ways. It’s impossible to simply become friends through casual interactions and meals.
In other words, workplace romance, as in a normal company, is fundamentally impossible.
“You mean they’ve only ever talked about work-related matters…”
“Yes, and from the women’s perspective, they can’t speak casually without raising suspicions, so they can’t approach them either.”
What a hassle.
I can’t help but think they should just approach the women like normal people. But that’s not how their environment works.
“So, you think intervention is necessary?”
“Yes, but can you do it?”
To understand the other party’s circumstances and then expect me to act is quite a tall order.
If that’s the case, then I, who can do it, must.
“I’ll do it.”
I take a step forward and raise the microphone, naturally drawing everyone’s attention.
“Thank you all for attending the social gathering between us, the Demon Lord’s Army, and the Japan Shiju Jutsu Association.”
I decide to move the start time forward and secure time for my speech. What should I do?
“After a brief greeting, I have something to say to the gentlemen of the Japan Shiju Jutsu Association.”
I judged that I needed to break through this stiff atmosphere. For a moment, Kirie-san’s composure wavered, but she didn’t try to stop me. Grateful for Kirie-san’s quiet support, I take a deep breath.
“I was born and raised in Japan, but I now have four wives.”
I declared. The women, already aware, showed no surprise, but the men erupted in murmurs.
In old families, it was common to have relationships with multiple women, including a main wife, concubines, and mistresses, but this is still quite unusual for them.
“You might think I’m boasting, but this is an undeniable fact. And you’re probably wondering, what do I mean by this?”
Suddenly declaring marriage to multiple women is something that others would find inexplicable.
If I were in their shoes, I’d think the same. However, in a sense, they aren’t seeing Keiri-san and the others as potential romantic partners.
The recognition of them as “people from another world” seems to be taking precedence, and coupled with their lack of experience with women, they fear doing something wrong.
Unless this perception is overturned, this party cannot be a success.
“Let me be clear. They are women who have lived with different common sense than you Japanese, and they are different races. However, they also possess the capacity to love and nurture affection. I met such women, fell in love with them, cherished them, and now I have even had children with a Dark Elf woman.”
My intended message is gradually sinking in. People from another world? Different races?
That’s true, but even within these seemingly abnormal conditions, there are understandable elements.
They are women, and they know love.
Their appearance and form may be slightly different from ours, but otherwise, they are not that different.
“Some of you may be approaching the women with the preconceived notion that they are from another world. That’s natural, and I too was initially swayed by such information. But please consider this: Don’t you find the women before you attractive? They have polished themselves to talk with you today, and they stand before you. Can you call them unattractive?”
As I spoke, trying to make them realize this, I noticed several men in the audience looking thoughtful. I felt a response.
Keiri-san and the others here are so attractive that they could easily be models.
“In my opinion, shying away from them simply because they are women from another world is a terrible waste. To distance yourselves just because their appearance is different from humans is out of the question. For example…”
I subtly signaled to the event staff, conveying via telepathic call that I wanted them to operate the lights.
“The most striking feature of a Dark Elf woman is her tanned skin, but there’s another characteristic: they are incredibly devoted.”
Then, a spotlight was shone on Keiri-san. Startled for a moment, Keiri-san didn’t show any sign of fluster and quickly offered an elegant smile.
“One of my wives is a Dark Elf. She loves with great passion. I can guarantee this from personal experience.”
The information that women are devoted piques the men’s interest, and their gazes shift towards the Dark Elf. Then, the women of other races start sending piercing stares, asking, “Aren’t you going to introduce us too?”
I conveyed that I understood with a glance and asked the staff to shine the next spotlight on another woman.
“The next race is…”
I decided to introduce all the races participating this time. While I thought it was like a fashion show, the men’s reactions grew with each race introduced.
Describing the impressions of the women I had interacted with as clearly and favorably as possible reminded me of giving a presentation.
“So, while there are differences from humans, they are not necessarily negative. Please think of them as special elements that this world didn’t have.”
With two to three minutes spent on each race, I ended up using about thirty minutes.
However.
“Now that we’ve seen which race has captured the gentlemen’s interest…”
As a result, I managed to capture the interest of about seventy percent of the men.
If I can carry this momentum, I think we’ll be fine.
I gave instructions to the staff via telepathic call to serve drinks.
“I wish for the future relationships of everyone present to go in a good direction.”
After confirming that everyone had received their drinks.
“Cheers.”
“““““Cheers!!””””
As glasses were raised, cheers mixed with male and female voices echoed through the venue.
And thanks to the first step being taken simultaneously, a scene unfolded where the participants in the venue slowly began to mingle.
“Somehow, I think I’ve managed to create some momentum.”
“Good work.”
“No, the real challenge starts now.”
