This company is staffed with exceptionally talented individuals. Many of them are specialized, excelling in one particular area while being mediocre in others.
The legal department is a prime example of this.
While their appearance is presentable, their personal lives are a disaster, yet they possess unparalleled knowledge in the field of law.
Kitamiya’s disbelief in the fact that they memorized the six law books, which are essentially blocks of text, in just three days is understandable.
Even though magic crests enhance physical abilities, they don’t revolutionize memory.
I’m aware that my thinking speed has increased, but in terms of memory, I only feel a slight improvement in recall.
However, this is the legal department handling matters for the Demon Lord’s Army, so it’s a showcase for their specialization.
“You probably don’t believe me. I wouldn’t have believed it either if Evia hadn’t said it with a straight face. Since it was an unknown legal system, they first had to learn Japanese, memorize difficult phrasing, and then started from there. At that stage, their eyes were bloodshot, and they were showing expressions of madness, urging to read faster.”
They apparently put on faces that looked like they were experiencing extreme craving, similar to a woman on a strict diet being shown a famous patisserie’s cakes during their most difficult period. While reading, they muttered nonsensically as they rapidly flipped through the pages.
“Are they alright with that?”
Even Nanami seemed worried when I described their demeanor at the time.
However, I can only imagine them now rejoicing and researching laws.
“Like I said? Evia stated she wouldn’t want to face them, even if law wasn’t their specialty. Those guys are anything but normal.”
Their only drawback is that they can’t practice law because they don’t have Japanese household registration.
Their knowledge and courtroom demeanor are apparently beyond that of veterans, possessing over a century of experience.
“Even though you say they’re not normal, there’s a sense of reassurance from a different perspective.”
“Not normal” is a phrase often used as a compliment within this company.
Hearing that, Minami seemed to relax and decided to wait.
“Besides, before this company became famous, they handled the legal paperwork for external trade. They established connections not only with Japanese law firms but also with government agencies like the tax office. Before they can bring in any incompetent lawyers, we’ll have major law firms on our side.”
“I don’t know why, but even though you’re telling me to wait with confidence, I feel like I’ve boarded a super-class battleship.”
“Our motto is to crush any opponents thoroughly. If Katsu doesn’t mind being ruthless, they won’t be able to do anything substantial.”
We will take such measures to protect our own.
The legal department is busy dealing with the world, but they can handle this much.

While we were talking, my phone rang. It was an email informing me of our future schedule.
“That’s great. It seems the number one person in our legal department is available. Minami, Katsu, and Kitamiya, go to the legal department tomorrow.”
“Number one? May I ask what kind of person they are?”
“A formidable woman who sold her soul to the law, a woman married to the law, a law devotee—well, she’s called many things. Basic common sense, so don’t worry, but she’s a Dark Elf who has completely abandoned her private life to immerse herself in the world of law. Be careful not to step on any landmines.”
It seems they’ll act quickly because of my connection.

To break the atmosphere, Katsu began to deny it.
Kaido was probably half-joking, but Minami and Kitamiya, aware of the reasons for their affection, probably considered what would happen if Katsu, who shows a supportive kindness, met a woman who knows nothing but her work.
Looking at their reactions, I also thought about it calmly.
“It might actually be less of a joke than we think.”

As someone engaged to two Dark Elf women, I understand the characteristics of Dark Elf women to some extent.
Once they fall in love, they love devotedly.

Kaido and Amelia look at me with eyes asking if I’m serious, but unfortunately, ignoring my intuition has proven to lead to nothing good.
“Yes, if possible, it would be better to do so. If Jiro-san’s intuition is whispering, then it’s serious.”
“I agree with Karen. The leader’s intuition is so accurate lately, it’s practically precognition.”
“If you two say so, I’d like that too.”
And as I was about to change the request email to one requesting a change in personnel, as the clients had said, it was then.
“Seriously?”
My phone rang again. Seeing the title of the email, I saved the reply email and opened the new one, my mouth twitching.
The content was a notification that the selection of law firms that could handle the case by the legal department was complete. That much is fine; it just means they work fast.
The problem is that the sender isn’t from the legal department I requested, but from Kelli’s subordinate.
I quickly read through the email’s content.
“My bad.”
I then apologize frankly to Minami.
“The leader apologizing so sincerely is really unsettling. What did you mess up?”
“…It seems our position is considered more important by the company than I imagined.”
And then I gently, with a swipe of my finger, showed them the contents.
“Huh?”
“Whoa.”
“Seriously?”
“Ah.”
“Oh.”
Katsu was surprised, Minami was taken aback, Kaido’s mouth twitched, Kitamiya looked up at the ceiling, and Amelia was stunned.
The item that elicited such unique reactions from everyone was…
“I didn’t expect this either. They’re reacting this much for this?”
“At worst, I thought we’d involve the police or child welfare services, but I just realized they can mobilize national agencies if they truly get serious.”
We’ve managed to involve the Public Security Bureau, not just the police.
“Presumably, they conveyed the gist that it might involve some country, with the aim of pressuring Katsu and influencing the media. They probably don’t want any information spreading that suggests discord between us and Japan.”

In fact, I suspected Isal’s involvement.
It’s probably the result of the legal department suspecting that as well.
It’s been decided that an investigation and response concerning Katsu’s mother will be conducted jointly.

However, I understand his feelings.
Depending on the results of this investigation, we don’t know what might surface.
