The corps is split into two. This was also Alana’s intention, but it seems it’s because a cat demi-human from Zivil Village works in Koatotemites. Alana is such a good kid. I’d love to tell that to someone else who’s a beloved highly-paid individual elsewhere.
However, it’s a welcome development. The reward transfer is in two days, and there’s also the issue with the Shadows. It’s probably bad for my employer if the Shadows start returning one after another, making war impossible, so I have to somehow manage both.
“Alana, please head to Zivil Village with Priscilla and Rufina. Christine, Orietta, and I will remain here.”
“Is it okay to have four people on our side?”
“It’s fine. Honestly, I could manage alone, but my position as an Imperial Baron is helpful. Please prepare for a prolonged battle at Zivil Village, just in case.”
“Do you think it will be a prolonged battle?”
“It’s just in case. If Zivil Village is attacked, consider a siege on Koatotemites and retreat to a rear city with the villagers. Also, consider the option that they might not attack.”
This time, I’m unsure of the situation. I suppose humans and monsters think very differently. If their methods of warfare are also different, can Adventurers handle it? If they can fight in groups with the same combat power as monsters, that would be a considerable threat.
“What happens to the wartime regulations at times like these?”
He’s concerned, of course. Since the corps will likely be divided for a long time, it’s better to decide this beforehand.
“How about suspending rotation duty and using self-reported scores for wartime compensation?”
“Goblins and Orcs being the same doesn’t make sense, does it? Trolls might even show up.”
Indeed, if Goblins and Trolls are the same, it would be problematic to rack up wartime compensation by only defeating Goblins. There’s the Black Flame Dragon too, and I wonder if other Dragons will appear.
“How about scoring based on size, with Orcs as one? Would five Goblins be equivalent to one Orc?”
“……Well, I suppose that’s fine. We’ll go with that.”
Why is he acting so arrogant? Hurry up and go to Zivil Village, annihilate the enemy, and come back. Wield your proud Halberd.
After our breakfast meeting, we parted ways with Alana and the others heading to Zivil Village. However, Priscilla grabbed me by the chest and pulled me close, kissing me and saying, “I’ll take mine first.” I don’t understand what she means by “first.” Also, everyone, please stop forming a line behind Priscilla.
Christine, Orietta, and I need to understand how this city deals with monsters. It’s likely that the Lord will command directly, or the command will be delegated to the Adventurer’s Guild or Mercenary’s Guild.
I’ll send Christine to the Lord and Orietta to the Guild, while I have a date scheduled for this morning. This is not for pleasure. It’s a necessary division of labor to ensure the survival of the Shadows.
Sending Priscilla and Sophia to Zivil Village was a decision based on battle force balance, and there was no ulterior motive. Leaving the relatively docile two behind also had no ulterior motive.
Even though it’s a date, with Koatotemites City in such an uproar, there are few quiet places. The sideshow attractions are closed, so we’ll just do some shopping and eating, and then head to the inn that the Shadows booked.
I looked for an inexpensive bracelet as a present. I want to buy something fitting for the danger they face, but my own finances are tight.
But I want to give a different present to all six sisters. It would create a disparity if they were all the same, and the presents themselves indicate their names… The bracelet is for Niina.
It can’t be helped. They have the same face, similar hairstyles and builds, and it’s hard to tell them apart. It’s also problematic to have them undress every time I call their names. By the way, Niina had two beauty marks side-by-side just below her left breast.
In the noisy city, we in the inn paid no attention to our surroundings. That’s why another Shadow standing in the room, and not noticing her, must be because Niina and I were deeply engaged in lovemaking.
“Haaah, good man… it feels… so good…”
Niina’s voice repeated the same thing in response to my relentless thrusts. That being uninteresting, my desires began to stir, and I considered changing from my Petty Knife to a Short Sword when Niina’s gaze shifted past my shoulder.
For a moment, I thought she was an enemy. Two soft bulges pressed against my back. Turning around, I faced a Dark Elf with the same face.
“Good man… please give some to me too…”
There’s an order to things, but as soon as she embraced me, Niina’s replenishment of bodily fluids was complete… I wanted to last a little longer, but I have to work hard for the other one before I rot.
My companion, which slid out with a slithering sound, had no vigor and was truly embodying the saying, “The more it ripens, the more the head of the rice stalk bows,” but demon’s blood flows in me. ■■■■, condensed! Before the other Shadow, my standing companion transformed from a harvested stalk of grain into a richly fruitful one once more.
“Good man…”
Words were unnecessary; her gaze was not on me, but on the grain. I roughly pushed her down, applied myself to her secret part, and inserted myself all at once. She yielded with a slither.
“Ah! Ah… a… ah… hah… n… ah…”
The Dark Elf writhed with ecstasy after just one thrust. Was it a mistake to start with a Short Sword when this was just the beginning? …No, why should I care? She won’t get aroused if I don’t channel magic power.
“I’ll make you dizzy with how much I’ll spill inside you.”
My voice was lost in her moans of pleasure; she probably couldn’t hear it. This is part of the job, I tell myself, and after three thrusts, I switched to enjoying myself, forgetting about the job.
When the pleasure ended, it was the sage’s hour. …Should I do it one more time? It’s chaotic outside, but there’s no sign of monsters, and although time is short, we must create something.
“G-good man… I feel like I’m already breaking…”
To whine this much, does she not understand my importance as a Shadow? No, she doesn’t! I must make her understand with every fiber of her being!
“It’s okay, it’s okay.”
I don’t even know what’s okay myself, but if there’s no one to retort to my “it’s okay,” I’ll have to be the one to retort by putting myself out there…
“Ahhh! Ah… nnnn… ahh…”
One retort, one boke. No, in this case, there are two targets for my retort. One partner for the retort… If I had one more… I seem to be tired today.
The Shadow who arrived late is Yuina. They called each other by name, so there’s no mistake. Her appearance… is the same. The face, hairstyle, and build. I want to ask her parents if they could really tell them apart.
Surely they wouldn’t judge by what’s under their clothes like I do.
Surely they wouldn’t judge by their moans in bed like I do.
I’ll try to judge by the present and where it’s worn. Yuina will also receive a bracelet, but this time on her left hand, opposite to Niina’s.
Will I be able to distinguish them this way? If she decides to wear it on the opposite hand on a whim, I won’t be able to tell. By the way, Yuina has one beauty mark near her left armpit.
I was very satisfied to hear useful information about Rothfar from Yuina. If I can hear information about Harm from the other Shadows, I can at least decide on our destination.
It was past evening when I parted with the two of them, and they shed tears when we said goodbye. A sense of guilt wells up within me for enslaving them, but I don’t intend to keep them as slaves forever. I want to free them when the time comes, without being corrupted or injured.
When I returned to the inn, Christine and Orietta had already returned and were preparing their equipment. It seems it has been decided that a commander will come from the Adventurer’s Guild. The Lord here seems like a good person, but perhaps he’s incompetent when it comes to military matters. Our total troop strength is about three hundred. Is this enough against monsters?
When Orietta informed the Guild that she would be participating in this battle as part of the White Lily Corps, they readily agreed. Our group consists of three people, and we’ve been assigned to guard the West Gate on a commission basis. I would have preferred the North Gate, on the forest side, where more spectacular battles could take place, but it’s understandable since we were late.
We had a light dinner and headed towards the West Gate, carrying water and preserved food. If monsters come, it will likely be at night. Some creatures are nocturnal, and some can see even in the dark. It’s not guaranteed they’ll come today. It’s not even guaranteed they’ll come at all.
Perhaps they are just watching us, who put our heads on the line in the morning and prepare for battle at night. Are there monsters smart enough to think that far ahead?
Upon arriving at the West Gate, there were thirty adventurers. Most were armed with bows, but we don’t have any. Orietta is not wearing her armor either. It seems we won’t be needed unless the gate is breached or we need to exit through it.
Lately, I’ve been sleep-deprived. I sleep, but I don’t sleep. These days, a decrease in sleep time leads to a decline in concentration, so I’ll sleep even while sitting on the castle wall.
It might look like I have no motivation, but I’ll hurl a stone if monsters come. The only problem is falling asleep buried among the two flowers on my hands.
As the Captain, I hope this much is allowed. I am, after all, hired under the name of the White Lily Corps, and anyone who complains will have a heart attack just by approaching me.
The Captain has so much to do, really…
