Forget these last two days. It’s enough to recall them in a fleeting memory.
“The visibility is good. We can’t go any further without being spotted.”
“It’s regrettable, but we can’t wait until we reach a large forest where we can hide.”
My and Priscilla’s goal was to decide on our final objective, so we advanced to a position where we could see the main road. My condition was perfect now, too perfect. I felt like I could even be on top of Priscilla like this.
“Why are you on my back?”
Huh? When did I end up on her back? My lower body was pressed tightly against Priscilla’s behind, and I felt like I was about to explode.
“Let’s go back. We’ve decided on our target.”
We returned to the brigade, concealing our movements. Then, I positioned myself behind Priscilla, but I couldn’t stop thinking about her behind, my eyes kept drawn to it, making it hard to walk.
Back with the brigade, we discussed our next move in front of everyone. It really is nice to be surrounded by girls. The twenty-eight members of the White Lily Corps were in front of us, and the brigade formed a circle around them, turning my surroundings into a flower garden. We were wearing armor, but among them were muscular individuals like Rose.
“Final target: we’re going to slap the Demon Army across the side. The enemy’s main force consists of Giants and Sand Dragons. We’ll break through the middle and take down at least one of each. The Sand Dragons will be dealt with by the brigade and Sophia’s Platinum Laser, and the Giants by the White Lily Corps and Rufina’s magic. White Lily Corps will take the lead. Let’s go!”
Once we start running, being spotted is inevitable. Of course, it’s within our prediction that Magma Rocks will fly from the Sand Dragons. Under the umbrella of defensive magic, we’ll launch our surprise attack.
“Advance!”
This is the first time in a while I’ve been at the front. Usually, Priscilla or Orietta take this position, but today I’m getting the spotlight. I have a cute audience, after all.
“Full speed ahead!”
The White Lily Corps and the brigade charged forward as one spear. The surroundings were already an open grassland. How long will it take the Demon Army to regroup after spotting us…
“Magma Rocks, coming!”
The response was faster than expected. The area around the Sand Dragons began to glow, and massive boulders were launched.
“Sophia!”
From the carriage being driven by Christine, I cast my magic, and a rainbow-colored light enveloped us from above. The Magma Rocks aimed at us bent the defensive magic umbrella like it was made of rubber, but that was all. Not a single one hit us, Sand Dragons.
One after another, all five Sand Dragons unleashed their Magma Rocks like rain, but Sophia blocked them. However, while she could stop what came from above, she couldn’t cover falling rocks from the sides.
“Someone in the rear got hit!”
With such a long formation, there were bound to be weak points. I regret that we don’t have more Mages, but we have to achieve the best results with the forces we have. It’s like being a salaryman.
“…It’s fine.”
Christine’s voice, driving the carriage behind the White Lily Corps, somehow resonated with me. Please concern yourself with me, for I am your subordinate now.
“Orcs are forming ranks!”
The Demon Army, targeting the Sand Dragons, began forming ranks with the Orcs acting as shields for us.
“Christine, I’m leaving it to you! White Lily Corps, turn around! Follow me!”
From here, we’ll change direction to target the Giants following behind the Sand Dragons, and separate ourselves from Sophia’s defensive magic. From now on, it’s up to luck.
The Sand Dragons’ Magma Rocks continued to target the advancing Christine’s unit, not flying towards us. We’ll use this chance to quickly close in on the Giants.
“It’s your turn, Cursed Tree King!”
“Be quiet!”
Even so, a genius Necromaner works fast. As I chanted, colossal trees, writhing like giant snakes, eels, or earthworms, sprung from beneath the Giants’ feet, entangling and toppling them.
“Priscilla, to the right! I’ll take the left!”
Amidst the swirling dust, I ran towards the fallen Giant’s head, wishing I had goggles. I wonder if the girls following behind me are okay. This is supposed to be my moment.
“Light! Extend!”
Fueled by my overzealous Magic Power, the tip of my extending Sword of Light glowed, large enough to sever the Giant’s head. I decapitated it without hesitation. Keeping it extended for too long consumes a lot of Magic Power.
“Kyaa!”
The cheers erupted… no, screams. When such a large head rolls away, they’re bound to shriek. Get used to it, and try not to get crushed by the rolling head.
Priscilla wouldn’t miss, so that makes two Giants dealt with. Looking at the rear of the formation, several Giants remain. Should I aim for one more? Or should I retreat without being greedy…
“Let’s go for one more! Aim for the legs and tear them apart!”
Maintaining our horse’s speed, I concealed my light and aimed for the next. The rear of the formation following me probably couldn’t see well, so I’ll give them a chance to cheer.
As the Halberds of the White Lily Corps passed by the Giant’s legs, getting close enough, they carved through the skin and flesh like a scythe. The Giant, its legs severed up to the Achilles’ tendons, collapsed in agony.
I took the best part! I thrust Magic Sword Zebra into the Giant’s neck and shouted, “I love you all!”
“Light!”
The embedded Zebra emitted intense heat, melting the flesh. It was good I adhered to the ban on hip-level usage. A frighteningly large hole was bored into the Giant’s neck.
It’s possible that the White Lily Corps’ name will be etched in history for taking down three Giants by themselves. And they’re an all-female mercenary group. They’ll probably be recorded as a group of beauties. Even though Rose is there.
“Retreat!”
I immediately mounted my horse and galloped away. Me, leading beauties, how cool am I. There are some who don’t quite fit the description, but I won’t sweat the small stuff. We need to escape quickly; it looks like it would hurt to be stepped on by a Giant.
As planned, Christine’s brigade took down one Sand Dragon, and Priscilla had already galloped ahead, not worrying about us.
“Captain, we have pursuers.”
How novel. I’m glad to receive a report in polite language, rather than shouts of “Hey!” or “Hmph!”. I’m glad I increased the number of White Lily Corps members. Her name was… I think it was Elza, the flat-chested one.
“Hold the rear! Elza, take the lead! Rufina, don’t forget your souvenir.”
“Be quiet! Rossa! I’m going to kill them.”
Rossa always insists on greeting us. She didn’t have to come all the way to greet us, even though we’re being pursued, but she did, and then went to face the pursuers.
“We have a great victory, Captain.”
It feels good to be praised. Even if it’s from flat-chested Elza, being complimented by a cute girl makes my chest swell. Just my chest, though.
“Christine, please take care of the brigade. White Lily Corps will take a detour and attack again.”
We ran until we were out of sight from the Demon Army’s advance route. After a short rest, we parted ways. Christine, Sophia, and the brigade of Alana and Orietta were tasked with dealing with the Demon Army’s supply unit, while I, the two troublemakers, and the White Lily Corps would target the front-line Orcs.
There were casualties from the brigade. Five were crushed under the Sand Dragons’ Magma Rocks, and seven were lost in the battle with the Orcs. It was called a great victory, but twelve people had died.
Sophia, who had restricted her healing magic to fire her Platinum Laser, showed a mixed expression of regret and sadness for those she couldn’t save, but Christine’s expression didn’t change at all. She didn’t abandon them, did she?
“White Lily Corps, let’s go!”
Look at me, my heroic figure. I think I’m handsome enough to be embraced by myself right now. Is Elza watching… The platinum light passing before my eyes brings me back to reality. Weren’t there people saved by that single shot?
“Where are we targeting next?”
Rose is also like Priscilla, she doesn’t listen… We discussed the plan beforehand, didn’t we? After stopping the White Rose Brigade’s captain, did she shift all her attention to us?
“While riding… we’ll target the Demon Army’s vanguard Orcs. It’ll be closer to Runbergzach, and they say there’s a forest where we can hide.”
“Are we dismounting?”
“No. They have reinforced armor attached to the horses, so even their charge should be effective. And with the Halberd added, we’ll be fine.”
“To think this can cut down Giants. I’m counting on the horses too.”
“Even a clumsy Rose can cut them. You don’t need to expect anything.”
“What did you say, Priscilla! I was the one who cut off the Giant’s head!”
“I was letting you have it. Didn’t you know I was cutting the other one?”
“Hmph! Don’t kid yourself. I cut deeper than you did!”
“What are you talking about! I cut…”
Well, after this, they’ll probably start talking about how much they cut, or how they were more amazing. They’re both saying “I” and have similar characters. We don’t need two ferocious people.
“Captain, what do you think?”
“Mikael, what do you think?”
They always end up asking me… Please stop asking questions that put me in a difficult position no matter who I side with. Besides, I wasn’t watching, so I can’t possibly judge.
“Hurry up! We’re falling behind!”
I galloped away as if escaping.
