Donner, who was Blitz’s turn, was taken out and they headed towards the High Elf village.
Finally, the village came into view. As usual, there wasn’t a soul in sight; it was eerily quiet.
“First, let’s go meet our companions. I don’t want to go meet Aubry and get shot with arrows again,” Blitz said.
Blitz’s demeanor conveyed both caution and killing intent. They weren’t enemies, exactly, but they had opposite attributes to the High Elves. Naturally, they weren’t on good terms.
“Hey, you! What have you brought this time!” uttered a voice.
Ugh, it was Lorenz, one of Aubry’s subordinates. I had been found by the person I least wanted to meet. As he approached, shouting loudly, black clouds rose from Blitz’s startled wings.
“K-Keraino?! What do you think you’re doing?”
“Please, wait, this is-”
Lorenz didn’t even listen to my explanation and drew his shining sword. If this escalated, idonner, who had been quiet, would wake up and start rampaging. Veronica also turned pale at this.
“Hey, put your sword down. Be quiet.”
“No, get out immediately. First Siren, now Keraino? This is a sacred village.”
He approached us, pointing his sword. If this continued, a full-blown battle would break out between the two sides. Surely, if they knew their companion had been harmed, the Kerainos scattered throughout the island would gather.
“P-Please, wait, we defeated one of Auroa’s subordinates. We can solve the problem.”
“Get out now. Don’t set foot here with your filthy feet.”
The sharp tip of the sword edged closer. If a fight broke out, not only would we be unable to leave the village, but the village itself would become a dangerous place.
I stepped in front of Blitz, who looked ready to lunge, and grabbed the sword tip that was nearing me.
“What do you think you’re doing? Don’t touch me with your dirty hands.”
I gripped the sword even tighter, stopping its pull. Warm blood flowed from my wrist without pain.
“Listen carefully, a Keraino woman is injured. Auroa’s subordinate shot her with an arrow. We’ve caught the culprit. Once she’s healed, the Kerainos will live peacefully again.”
I met Lorenz’s eyes through the sword. His clear High Elf eyes met mine. He furrowed his perfectly shaped brows. He could sheath his sword now and cut off my head. But I no longer felt any fear that would make me step back.
I swung the sword tip I was holding to the side. Blood dripped onto the dry leaves on the ground.
“Where is the doctor? We’re running out of time.”
“…This way.”
Lorenz sheathed his sword and began to guide me to the doctor. We arrived at an old clinic, similar to the other buildings.
“The best, though in this village there are only her and her son who are doctors. We can use healing magic ourselves.”
He lightly tapped the moss-covered, greenish door. Inside, the smell of medicine stung my nostrils. It seemed unused for a long time, as dust faintly covered the reception counter.
“We have an emergency patient. Please examine her.”
As if hearing us, a woman in a white coat came out from the back.
“Siren and Keraino, this is unusual.”
“Ah, well, I don’t really understand it myself, but please.”
Lorenz mumbled incoherently. Still, the doctor smiled kindly and led us to the back. I let Veronica in and went outside with Blitz.
“Hey, hand.”
“Eh? Ahh! It hurts!!”
As if remembering when pointed out, the pain set in. Looking at my palm, I saw a clean cut. The sharpness was too much. Since arriving on this island, I’d had too many injuries. I’d been thrown into the sea, struck by lightning, and now I had a cut.
“Ugh, it hurts, the bleeding won’t stop.”
“Let me see. I’ll cauterize it.”
“Absolutely not!”
I absolutely refused such a wild treatment. The doctor I had intended to see had just taken in another emergency patient. Turning around, I met Lorenz’s eyes as he exited the clinic.
“Wh-What is it? Ah, that’s right, my sword got dirty from your blood.”
Huh? Is he worried about his sword after seeing me like this? I felt an inexplicable anger.
“Don’t come near me, don’t point your hand at me, you’ll get dirty!”
“Help me. Please heal it with light magic.”
He tried to avoid my hand as if it were an insect. Should I wipe his blood on his clothes? I’ll teach this germaphobe, raised in a garden, the harshness of the wild.
“I told you not to come here!”
“You’re a High Elf, aren’t you? Heal this in an instant.”
“Hurry and lend me your hand, I’ll burn the wound.”
“Please don’t do that, my whole hand will get burned.”
Why is he trying to burn the wound? There are other ways, right? Besides, if he could do it, why didn’t he burn her wound too? He’s not doing it because he knows it’s a dangerous method.
“What are you guys doing at night?”
“Ah, Cecilia.”
Three men were struggling with each other. Cecilia, watching from a distance, had a very cold look in her eyes.
