Chapter 54: Sakura Tastes Chili for the First Time and Cries from the Spice
Lin Ye walked in front, followed by a group ofBewildered Beast-eared Girls.
“Planting potatoes? Do you know what planting potatoes is?”
“Where is Ye taking us?”

Lin Ye placed the wooden bucket aside, then pulled out a few branches from the ground, opening an entrance. He then walked into the vegetable garden. The Beast-eared Girls followed Lin Ye inside. It was then that the Beast-eared Girls saw the chili plants bearing finger-sized fruits.
Sakura looked at the bright red chili peppers, her foodie soul awakened once again. She turned to Lin Ye and asked, “Ye, did you plant these weeds here? Can the fruits on them be eaten?”
Hearing Sakura’s words, a subtle mischievous smile appeared on Lin Ye’s lips, and he said, “These aren’t weeds; they’re called chili peppers. Of course, they can be eaten. Sakura, try one.”
“Chili peppers?” Hearing Lin Ye, Sakura tilted her head, looked at the chili tree closest to her, and plucked a red chili pepper. She first smelled it, but there was no scent. Then, Sakura opened her mouth and swallowed the red chili in her hand whole. As Sakura chewed slowly, her eyes suddenly widened, and her face turned red. Tasting the spiciness of the chili, Sakura quickly spat out the chili from her mouth. However, it was so spicy that she kept her mouth open, panting.
Seeing Sakura’s reaction, Lin Ye laughed heartily. Hearing Lin Ye’s laughter, Sakura looked at him angrily. “Ye, you lied! It doesn’t taste good at all. What is this taste? I feel so uncomfortable, Ye, what should I do?”
Lin Ye said to Sakura with a smile, “Who told you to eat so much at once? Go to the cave and drink some water to rinse your mouth.”
Upon hearing Lin Ye’s words, Sakura immediately turned and ran towards the cave. After Sakura left, the other Beast-eared Girls looked at the chili peppers Lin Ye had grown with curiosity.

The Beast-eared Girls’ words gave Lin Ye an idea. Lin Ye had originally planted chili peppers to be used as seasoning. Now, the Beast-eared Girls’ words reminded Lin Ye that chili peppers could indeed be used as weapons. Lin Ye began to ponder, stroking his chin. Seeing Lin Ye lost in thought while looking at the chili peppers, the other Beast-eared Girls exchanged glances. No one dared to disturb him.
After a while, Sakura returned from the cave. She came to Lin Ye’s side, her eyes red from the chili, and stared intently at Lin Ye. Then, with her hands on her hips, she said angrily to Lin Ye, “Ye, you’re mean! Eating chili peppers makes me feel so uncomfortable, and you still made Sakura eat them.”
Lin Ye, who was lost in thought, was brought back to reality by Sakura’s voice beside him. Lin Ye looked down at Sakura’s puffed-up appearance, smiled, and patted her head. Then, he explained to Sakura, “That feeling is called ‘spicy.’ You felt uncomfortable because chili peppers aren’t meant to be eaten like that.”
“If you sprinkle a little chili on barbecue, the barbecue will become extremely delicious.” As Lin Ye spoke, his mouth began to water. Sakura and the other Beast-eared Girls’ mouths were also watering profusely. Sakura’s angry expression disappeared, replaced by her swallowing saliva.
