Marrying the Villainess Noblewoman at the Start – Chapter 208

Isha’s clear call spread across the battlefield, causing many soldiers from the Graythorn Territory who were on the verge of collapse to react. Even those soldiers in disarray miraculously regained their order.

Darsi raised his hand and fired, interrupting the monster that was grasping Hammond’s arm. Hammond immediately reacted, tearing off the armor on his arm and managing to escape.

The resistance fighters quickly joined the battle, using their old-fashioned firearms to help suppress the fleeing Graythorn soldiers and to hold back the approaching Demon God Offspring.

Under Isha’s organization, the fleeing Graythorn soldiers regrouped and launched a counterattack. Under the barrage of fire, they actually managed to drive back a batch of monsters.

Some mages from the Doug Army even began coordinating their magical firepower, and in a miracle, they eliminated a Demon God Offspring.

Lauri felt somewhat ashamed upon seeing this situation; after all, the Graythorn army had begun to flee, yet it was the poorly equipped resistance fighters who turned the tide.

The cannon continued to roar, and chaos still reigned on the battlefield. The entire situation had not become easier even with Isha’s arrival with the resistance fighters. Although many Doug Army soldiers joined the resistance on the battlefield, the resistance was still outnumbered, able to suppress only one area at best.

On the Demon Clan’s side, there were still relentless waves of corpses turned into undead by black sludge and numerous Demon God Offspring, leaving the battlefield steeped in despair.

However, Isha’s greatest significance was in dispelling Noam’s incessant whispers and accompanying mental attacks.

This allowed the Graythorn army, trapped in despair, to reorganize and fight back.

Noticing the sudden slowing of the front line, Noam listened to reports from the Demon Clan on his back and realized something. It must be said that humanity is a strange race; an individual or a group might be entirely slaughtered by the Demon Clan, with each person quite weak.

Yet once a leader emerges among the humans, the rest become fearless and act as if reborn, even if that leader is quite weak, their presence proves crucial.

Isha wanted to continue the counterattack relying on her luck, but it seemed that this time there wouldn’t be any meteor strikes. A few times, she had been perilously saved, flirted with death, which seemed to warn her that such luck would not last.

At Layton’s strong suggestion from behind Isha, she took a slight step back. After all, every time Isha narrowly escaped, it was other resistance fighters risking their lives to cover her.

Though they had barely managed to boost morale, facing the seemingly endless waves of Demon God Offspring and Sludge Monsters, even with artillery support, maintaining the front line was still extremely challenging. These monsters seemed tireless, constantly pressing forward—if this continued, a collapse would only be a matter of time.

Exhausted, Isha reluctantly returned to the camp, while White roused his subordinates and charged out again.

“Saintess, you’ve worked hard.”

Lauri and the staff officers respectfully saluted Isha, but she shook her head and said, “This won’t do.”

“Indeed, even though our artillery has created havoc among those monsters, they are merely feeding on corpses and sludge to recover.”

Lauri visibly looked haggard; the time was nearing dusk. Once night fell, operations would become much more difficult.

But the staff officers had not been idle either; Lauri concluded, “Although those monsters continue to advance, that huge creature back in the rear, with its many mouths babbling away, has shown no sign of movement. Therefore, the command staff suspects that it is that massive creature controlling these monsters.”

“Even if not controlling them, it should be something akin to the concept of the primary magic circle in a letter spell. We have been discussing if there’s any plan to attack that huge monster, but unfortunately, it’s too far away, and the artillery’s range is insufficient.”

Silence fell over the area once again. The monsters around Noam only increased, and many Demon Clan guards had yet to turn into monsters. How could they approach so easily? Furthermore, the main issue was how to deal with the surging monsters.

Even Isha couldn’t help but pray anew to the Goddess in her heart at this moment.

On the battlefield at this time, the young knight beside White, who was supposed to return to get married, suddenly pushed White aside.

“General, run!”

Before the knight could finish speaking, he was swallowed whole by a monster.

“Bowen!”

White desperately shouted the name of that young knight. In the morning, he had even asked for leave to go back to marry his wife, and now he was buried in the monster’s belly.

At that moment, the black flesh of the monster suddenly began to smoke, and a ray of light seeped through. The black mass stopped writhing, and the enormous creature collapsed.

The many mouths on the black flesh began to emit agonizing wails.

Though White had yet to comprehend what was happening, he quickly reacted, raising his melting-cut sword and plunging it into the monster’s black mass, slicing it completely open.

The knight who had been swallowed had already been corroded beyond recognition in a short amount of time.

It was regrettable; the young knight named Bowen was likely lost. In his grief, more reinforcements arrived to support White. He propped his melting-cut sword on the ground and took a moment to breathe before Bowen’s corpse, continually pondering the strange occurrences that had just transpired.

How had the monsters suddenly lost their ability to act?

Soon, the next wave surged forward. Having rested little, White stood up again. As he crossed over Bowen’s body, he accidentally kicked a broken small bottle.

Momentarily dazed, White realized that the bottle contained holy water.

At the very beginning, holy water could be said to be standard issue for the Graywhite army, but as the army expanded continuously, the original holy water had gradually been replaced by advanced potions.

This did not mean that the Graywhite no longer produced holy water; as a universal remedy against the Demon Clan’s plague, the production of holy water had never ceased. While it was now encased in the governor’s ancestral potion, if every unit were still distributed holy water like before, the secret would eventually be exposed.

Thus, only the leaders of the various legions and trustworthy individuals bore holy water on hand for emergencies; the rest had switched to high-level alchemical potions.

Holy water was more commonly used by the sisterhood in the rear to clear the plague.

A bold idea popped into White’s mind. He dug out his quota of holy water from his tactical backpack and fiercely threw it at the nearest Demon God Offspring.

Just as he was about to throw it, the whip-like tentacle of the Demon God Offspring caught the bottle and brought it to its mouth.

But soon, the Demon God Offspring let out a painful wail, kneeling on the ground, steam rising from its body, mirroring the previous Demon God Offspring’s reaction.

Surrounding soldiers were still unaware of what was happening. Seeing a monster kneel, a knight immediately charged forward with his melting-cut sword, cutting the monster apart and killing it.

“Hahaha!”

“Hahahahahahahaha!”

Amidst the chaotic battlefield, White laughed maniacally.
