The strategy here in Graywhite Territory is very simple: the vanguard troops will clear the way, sending the Sisterhood equipped with flamethrowers close to the area of that massive creature, and then directly set fire to it. If that big guy is indeed the brain of these monsters, the enemy will definitely defend.
At this moment, the main forces can take advantage of this opportunity to counterattack.
Although a lot of preparations have been made, the Sisters actually know that this mission is likely a one-way trip, yet no one has any complaints.
Humans are such a miraculous race. Normally, humans can be said to be the most timid race; to survive, countless humans have betrayed their kin. However, when humans unite, when the death of humans exceeds a certain threshold, when humans successfully trigger the inherent fact of human death, whether it is light as a feather or heavy as mountains, they seem to be reborn, strongly reminding other races how humans became the dominant race on the continent.
Hammond is wildly swinging the long weapon in his hand. It is evident that he has already brought the Sisters to the deepest part of the battlefield. This is a place Graywhite Territory has never reached before, and he can even clearly see the hooves of that giant monster.
As the staff officers analyzed, as they get closer to that giant monster, the Demon Clan’s offensive becomes fiercer. The Demon Clan has invested more energy on the defense of this giant monster than on the front lines.
The tide of monsters and the ordinary beam weapons are of no use. Only more efficient melee weapons can barely clear a path. Moreover, if it weren’t for the Darsi troops behind him using reinforced special beam weapons for support, even if Hammond continuously swings his weapon, he would be knocked off his horse by these monsters.
Thanks to an ample supply of Holy Water, Hammond’s knights have not shown signs of collapse so far.
But soon, the ground begins to tremble, and Hammond’s war-hardened steed is even feeling somewhat restless. In the distance, a creature that is noticeably larger than ordinary monsters is charging straight towards Hammond.
Before these monsters rushed over, the Darsi troops responsible for support had already reacted, and the reinforced special beam weapons were firing madly. Seeing the beam weapons burn a shallow hole, Darsi felt relieved. These monsters are obviously more ferocious than ordinary ones and have higher defenses, but as long as damage can be dealt, it’s all manageable.
However, after these monsters feel pain, they become even more frenzied. One monster stopped, its numerous mouths opening simultaneously. In an instant, Hammond sensed a subtle change in the magic power on the battlefield, and almost instinctively, he led the Lars Knights to simultaneously raise their shields.
Accompanied by the monster’s agonizing wails, a fireball mixed with lightning shot out from the monster’s mouth like a cannonball.
Although the kinetic energy of this lightning-infused fireball does not possess the impact of a real cannonball, its destructive power is real. If Hammond had not raised the shields, his team would have likely faced casualties immediately.
“Bloodline Magic?!”
Hammond shouted in shock while charging forward.
This is the first time Graywhite Territory has observed that these creatures can also use Bloodline Magic. It seems this is the Demon Clan’s trump card.
Following that, more spells began to rain down recklessly as if they cost nothing. In order to protect the Sisters behind, Hammond can only brace the shields alongside the Lars Knights.
If it were any other knights, they might not withstand such a relentless bombardment of magic. These monsters are like moving artillery, and they themselves are quite formidable.
At this thought, Hammond looked up at the largest monster not far away, his heart tightening. Could that monster also use Bloodline Magic?
Just as Hammond was contemplating this, he heard Flora’s voice.
“Lord Hammond, this is far enough. You all should retreat quickly!”
“What nonsense! Knights should die in the charge; we can push just a little more!”
Hammond came into this battle with a near-fatal determination, and among this group of conservative old knights, how could he allow a lady to go before him to sacrifice herself?
“This distance is close enough, and circumstances have changed. You must relay this intelligence to the Lord Governor!”
Flora was very firm, but Hammond was in no mood to listen. He shouted, “Darsi, I order you as the battlefield commander; your mission is complete. Retreat immediately and report the monster sightings to the Lord Governor!”
Still firing, Darsi gritted his teeth, throwing a bag filled with Holy Water to Hammond, exclaiming, “Don’t you dare die!”
Then he led his troops to begin the retreat.
Struggling to hold the shields, Hammond caught the Holy Water bag, and then tossed it to Flora, shouting, “The Lars Knights never shy away from battle!”
Flora shook her head and threw the Holy Water bag back, saying, “Lord Hammond, you’ve already done more than enough. Leave the rest to us.”
With that, the Sisters suddenly drew their flamethrowers and began to gently press the triggers. Even a light press unleashed a torrent of fire.
Though not aimed directly at Hammond, the scorching heat wave and smoke still made it difficult for him to breathe.
“Lady Saintess?!”
Hammond was somewhat shocked, but still made way for the knights. He didn’t expect this Saintess to use such a forceful method to cover his retreat. Dying in the charge of monstrous creatures is indeed an embodiment of the knight spirit, but dying at the hands of teammates is not.
“Thank you for your escort, Lord Hammond. Stay alive!”
The Sisters wearing blood-soaked red robes charged with their steeds towards those terrifying monsters capable of using Bloodline Magic. Shortly thereafter, several flames shot into the sky, incinerating the monsters in close proximity while also obscuring Hammond’s view.
Hammond gripped his longsword, his eyes burning red. If conditions permitted, he would salute this Saintess and her Sisterhood.
But clearly, the thunderous cannon fire on the battlefield did not allow Hammond to do so.
“I must survive!”
Hammond prayed to all the gods he could think of, regardless of whether it was effective or not.
Then he turned with the knights, following Darsi’s troops to bring back the information about the newly appeared monsters on the battlefield.
However, among the Sisters amidst the flames, there was no sense of Hammond’s respect at all; they were currently excited, even somewhat crazed, pressing the triggers of the flamethrowers.
This is essentially a fourth-tier magic, but qualitative changes arise from quantitative changes. Under the energy supplied by the raw color sand container, the raging fire seems like a hellish flame, never ceasing, and the Movement Barrier starts to operate, but its main purpose is not to withstand the monsters’ attacks, but rather to handle the increasingly terrifying high temperatures.
Watching those monsters beginning to burn, the Sisters drew out their chainsaw swords, and voices of loyalty began emanating from beneath their masks.
