The huge vines continued to tightly wrap around the twisted deity, the War God emanating a terrifying aura. Although its movements were slow, it wielded six arms, constantly clearing the vines off its body with blades.
“Two monsters…”
A somewhat braver and mentally fortified high-level profession stared incredulously at the scene before him.
It was hard to imagine what kind of force was blocking the deity. This had completely surpassed the realm of magic. The once proud high-level professionals, who could swagger across the continent, now appeared as insignificant fodder before these two monsters.
What further puzzled this high-level professional was that a Lars Knights Squad was actually approaching the moving deity, seemingly oblivious to the concept of fear, trying to scrape something off the immense body of the god.
However, the War God’s power seemed to be infinite, and the black sludge continued to pollute the vines that sprouted out of thin air. Eventually, this War God broke free from its binding and began moving in a certain direction.
Within An Zhu’s territory, some towns and fortresses had already witnessed this giant War God. Some devout followers knelt down in prayer, while more had fallen into a semi-mad state after being mentally impacted.
As the frontline army of An Zhu collapsed and personnel scattered in all directions, information spread at an alarming speed.
Although Alberto swiftly took control of the situation, claiming everything was normal, and implemented a blockade of the royal city to prevent information circulation, this behavior itself indicated abnormalities. Even if the area around the royal city was forcibly stabilized, it only created more chaos among the people.
Moreover, the enormous body of the War God could not be hidden. More and more fleeing individuals claimed to have seen the War God descend. In an instant, those wanting to pilgrimage, those seeking refuge, and those trying to capitalize on the chaos were all left behind by Alberto’s hard-handed tactics.
The area around the royal city now resembled a high-pressure cooker about to explode, just a little spark away from ignition.
“Almost all the residents of the border witnessed the War God being slowly entangled by the vines.”
Cassius reported with a deadpan expression, as the current meeting only had the genuine decision-makers of An Zhu remaining.
The Avar people had not attended; even the high-level professionals were nowhere to be found, and the War God Church had sent only an inconspicuous bishop.
“Over six hundred residents reported mental issues after witnessing the War God, and that’s just a rough estimate; the actual situation could be worse.”
Border residents were very important to An Zhu. Within the military system of An Zhu, they not only handled a significant amount of military supply transportation tasks but were also excellent soldiers. The mere descent of the War God had already destroyed the social relations built along the long-standing borders of An Zhu.
Hearing this data, Alberto couldn’t help but sigh in front of his ministers, but the one more worried than Alberto was the military representative.
Both the border residents and the military had suffered severe trauma from glimpsing the War God; this battle was no longer winnable, especially with the War God still moving within An Zhu’s territory. The number of those affected would only increase.
The War God descended amidst war, ironically ending the conflict.
“If only the War God were moving toward Cape.”
One of the military generals unconsciously sighed and directed his gaze to the only church representative present.
Clearly, this church person was different from those who had previously ranted in meetings, eager for every citizen to convert. He appeared more refined and calm, rebutting, “General, this is undoubtedly a disaster for the entire continent. Even if the War God is indeed moving toward Cape, we should not take pleasure in this. We should cooperate with Cape to seek a solution.”
“The War God has already been eroded by some power. Based on what I heard from the War God’s saint, aside from being restrained by the vines, it seems to be resisting movement itself, which is why its actions are so slow.”
The bishop explained to those present: “It’s evident that the War God did not descend of its own volition. Someone exploited the loopholes within our church to force the War God against its will, to forcibly descend into the real world and is even manipulating the War God. We must assist against the vines to stop the War God from moving.”
It was hard to imagine such words coming from a follower of the War God.
Alberto nodded in agreement: “That’s right. The governor of Cape has similar suspicions. He sent me a message claiming that this War God might just be a projection, and the real War God is battling the so-called pollution in the Divine Kingdom.”
It was hard to imagine the once proud Alberto looking so disheveled now.
Cassius continued: “Although the War God’s projection is moving within An Zhu, based on the path the projection is currently taking, its destination is not here.”
Cassius paused, then pointed to the map on the table: “But rather Savoy, that small kingdom which was just taken by the Avar and the Demon Clan.”
“Using ‘taken’ is too flattering for that group of beasts.”
Alberto shook his head: “That was my oversight. I didn’t expect that group to commit such bloody massacre. They killed everyone under the wheels.”
“Isn’t that normal in wartime?” The military general queried in confusion. “If we were to do it, we would kill as well; it’s a necessary measure for long-term rule and preservation of labor force.”
“The wheels have been put down.”
“……”
This was clearly not aimed at establishing any long-term rule; this was outright extermination.
After a moment of silence, Cassius continued: “Even so, we cannot ignore it because, according to calculations, the royal city will eventually see the passing projection of the War God. Even if we can control the residents of the royal city to draw the curtains tightly and not look at the War God’s projection before it leaves, the War God’s projection will still traverse most of our territory, which will cause unimaginable damage to us…”
Even if people do not look, the destructive power of the War God’s projection passing through would already be astonishing. It could be said that just this one incident could accelerate An Zhu towards destruction.
“That governor reminded us.”
Alberto said solemnly: “The War God’s projection, or rather the pollution that controls the War God, feeds on people’s negative emotions. Its journey toward Savoy likely also has a reason… there… there is immense resentment. That governor said that if we cannot control the War God’s projection, he will send troops to enter An Zhu to try to stop it.”
“I think we should take his opinion seriously this time.”
After Alberto finished speaking, the people present looked at one another, some at a loss. Even if the people of the royal city all closed their eyes at the time the War God passed by, they could execute that, but how could they stop that terrifying monster?
In truth, Alberto did not expect the group to genuinely stop the War God’s projection; after all, he was the king, and it was his greatest duty to protect this country.
“Cassius, for the sake of An Zhu, perform the modification surgery on me!”
