36- There’s nothing to be afraid of anymore
Suyun didn’t have time to think much, so she crouched next to the girl.
She didn’t know how long it took for the cat to notice, but she had to try, after all, this was a life at stake.
Suyun quickly pulled out her phone and dialed the landlord’s number, tossing it aside.
Next, she needed to quickly assess the girl’s current condition.
Back in middle school, there was a similar lecture held by the group, and she just happened to replace a classmate to attend. There were only a few dozen people, and she sat in the front, seeing everything clearly.
Consciousness, breathing, heartbeat.
“Hello, can you hear me?” Suyun patted the girl’s shoulder while calling out to her.
“Have you found your ID? Someone is going to check.” At that moment, the phone she had just dialed also rang, filled with noisy sounds; it seemed the landlord was outside.
“Landlord, someone has fainted in 1102!” Suyun spoke while adjusting the girl from her side position to lying flat.
“1102?” The person on the other end of the phone immediately became tense after hearing Suyun’s words, followed by the sound of hurried footsteps.
Not responding to the shoulder shake meant a loss of consciousness; bringing her ear close to the girl’s nose, the absence of warmth and sound indicated no breathing.
Judging the heartbeat wasn’t complicated either; she placed her index and middle fingers on the neck, but Suyun had forgotten the exact spot, only remembering it was a few centimeters next to the throat where a major artery lay, quite apparent.
However, when she gently pressed her fingers against it, she felt no pulse. Her body sensing ability was also quite strong, and if there was no pulse, it meant there really was no heartbeat.
Consciousness, heartbeat, and breathing were all gone.
Clearly, this girl was gone…
Uh, no, if discovered in time, it was just a cardiac arrest, and there was still a chance to save her.
Suyun could only hope she arrived in time.
The girl wore a clean white nightgown, and her body beneath it looked very thin, appearing somewhat unhealthy.
As for how Suyun could see the girl’s figure, it was necessary for her to undress; emotions couldn’t be involved.
“Meow.” The orange cat leaned against the girl’s hand, but that hand no longer responded.
“Hu…” Suyun took a deep breath, mustering her courage to face the situation before her.
To be honest, it was her first time…
Suyun hesitated for a moment in her mind, but it was really just 1 or 2 seconds; she gripped her left hand in the gap of her right hand, with her right fingers spreading out flat pressing in between the girl’s breasts.
Although Suyun had great strength, pressing quickly was not better; it needed to be controlled at about 2 compressions per second, with a limit of 5 cm in depth, and the pressing hands had to be perpendicular to the floor.
“Where are the people?” Soon, a middle-aged woman’s anxious voice came from outside the door.
Seeing the door to 1102 open, the landlord rushed in and was startled to see a solid wooden door over two meters high lying flat on the hall floor.
There were deep dents on the edge of the wooden door, appearing somewhat strange, but compared to this, she was more concerned about how the girl in the room was doing.
“What’s going on?”
“No response…” Suyun glanced at the girl’s pale face, casting a desperate look at the landlord.
“…”
The landlord didn’t respond, merely took off her sunglasses in silence, then quickly knelt beside the girl’s head, lifting her chin.
“Stop for a moment.”
“Okay.”
Compared to Suyun, the landlord’s tone was calm.
Then, Suyun saw the landlord lean in and kiss the girl.
This made her momentarily stunned, before remembering that CPR required not just compressions, but also rescue breaths.
“Keep pressing; if you can’t do it anymore, I’ll take over. You do 30 compressions, and I’ll do 2 breaths.” The landlord urged Suyun to keep moving.
Suyun reacted quickly and immediately continued, not daring to blink.
Although her body was cold, sweat began pouring down her forehead uncontrollably.
If the girl couldn’t be saved, it would mean witnessing someone die right in front of her, which could leave her with a lifetime of trauma.
Moreover, this girl looked like a student; there were books on the table; she should be in the same school as Suyun.
She thought she was having a hard time being “transformed” into a girl without an ID, but it turned out there was someone next to her who was suffering far worse.
As time passed while Suyun pressed, her chaotic and fearful thoughts flowed by second by second; approximately five minutes later, she heard the sound of an ambulance downstairs.
Even so, she couldn’t relax yet, as they were on the 11th floor, and had to wait for help.
After one more rescue breath, the landlord hurried to grab a yellow towel from the bathroom in the side wardrobe.
When she was about to administer the next breath, Suyun paused compressions and covered the girl with the towel.
Another minute passed, and a few first responders in masks arrived in 1102, all emitting a strong medicinal smell, which was somewhat reassuring.
At this point, the girl beneath Suyun still hadn’t awakened.
Although the responders had arrived, Suyun couldn’t feel reassured seeing the girl remain unresponsive.
“You’re sweating so much, if you’re exhausted, let the hospital staff handle it.”
“I… okay.” Suyun panted, wanting to say she wasn’t even tired.
But how could she compare to the professionals at the hospital? So after one cycle of compressions, she stood up for the next person to take over.
After that, she continued to stand by the crowd, watching the girl’s face.
Now, with some free time to look closely, she actually found the girl quite pretty.
Logically, at such a lovely age, she should be enjoying her youth, just like the senior she saw the previous night wearing black stockings, happily chatting with boys. Yet here was this girl, possibly facing death.
Suyun watched as the girl was loaded onto the ambulance from the upper level.
The landlord and the orange cat boarded the ambulance, while Suyun stood at the door, watching the car representing pure white angels drive away.
There was nothing she could do; she still needed to meet her parents later, and her presence wouldn’t make a difference, just adding to the worry.
The landlord seemed quite familiar with this girl, otherwise, she wouldn’t have rushed over merely after hearing someone fainted in 1102, as if she had already known something might happen to her.
“12:51,” Suyun opened her phone to check the time, but her heart had completely lost the earlier feelings of fear and tension.
Compared to death, she thought it was easier for her parents to accept her transformation and solving the ID issue.
There was nothing to be afraid of anymore.
……
……
“Yuan Yuan, what do you think Suyun’s parents are like?” Sitting at a table carved like a piece of art, Qin Xue occasionally gazed at the ceiling with a dreamy smile.
“I haven’t met them; I don’t know.” Qin Yuan Yuan looked down at her food, feeling a tinge of jealousy at her sister’s behavior.
Her sister had mentioned that guy several times since morning, even though she was the one who had always stayed by her sister’s side.
