27. Roll
BLB Club.
In the conference room, Coach Wang Wei was reviewing yesterday’s match.
Su Yan was sitting below, feeling uninterested. In his opinion, there was nothing much to review about yesterday’s match—the opponents were weak; they won purely by shooting skills.
“Hey, hey.”
Lin Qingyan patted Su Yan’s shoulder and whispered, “Pay attention, or the coach will see you and scold you.”
“I’m not called ‘Hey,’ I’m called Chu Yuxian!”
After saying this, Su Yan chuckled and, after thinking for a while, said, “Seriously, let’s go eat barbecue tonight?”
“You’re treating?”
“That’s not possible. Let’s call Little Chang; he’s rich, and if he doesn’t treat us, we’ll bully him!”
It’s as if you’re not rich yourself.
Lin Qingyan muttered in his heart but nodded sincerely, “Let’s eat!”
“You brat…”
“Su Yan, Lin Qingyan, what are you two doing?”
Swish—
Su Yan suddenly stood up from his gaming chair, pointing at Lin Qingyan with a sorrowful face:
“I’m really fed up with the coach. Lin Qingyan keeps saying that I should treat him to dinner, and he even said if I don’t agree, he’ll bully me!”
Coach: …
Lin Qingyan: …
Other teammates: …
The coach, who knew very well what kind of person his player was, sighed wearily: “Stop it, brother.”
“Oh, okay.”
Su Yan obediently sat back down.
The review continued in a straightforward manner, but Lin Qingyan, who was obviously dissatisfied with the earlier framing, was close to giving him a hard elbow for over an hour.
It’s not painful!
After the review, Su Yan rubbed his waist, baring his teeth, and shot a disdainful glance at Lin Qingyan before picking up the jacket hanging on the chair.
“Where are you going?” Lin Qingyan asked.
“To buy coffee.”
“That Flower Language place again, huh?”
Chang Yue leaned over to join in on the fun, not realizing that his wallet had already been targeted by two older teammates in the group.
“Yan Ge…”
Chang Yue teased him with a smile: “Why do you run there daily to buy coffee?”
“Because it’s delicious.”
“Is it really not because of that waitress?”
“If you mean the waitress who spilled coffee all over me…”
Su Yan lowered his head to send a message; after sending it, he glanced at him sideways: “Then you have quite the imagination.”
He went there because it was delicious; otherwise, what else could it be for?
Moreover, he had only been there once, okay?
Why do these guys always think about messing with his romance? It seems the training volume still isn’t enough.
Chang Yue pouted: “Aren’t you afraid that girl will misunderstand you?”
“What?”
“You think!”
Chang Yue snapped his fingers, looking very much like a military advisor: “You never went to her shop before, and now after she spilled coffee all over you, you went. She might misunderstand that you like her, you know?”
Su Yan looked at Lin Qingyan and raised an eyebrow.
The meaning was simple.
You’re the captain; manage this **.
Lin Qingyan shrugged, meaning simply that he couldn’t manage the ** either.
Chang Yue was still pushing: “But Yan Ge, have you considered that she might not be into this; you’d just make her dislike you!”
“Besides…”
“Alright, let’s stop here,” Lin Qingyan interrupted him, nodding towards the door: “The person has already left; what are you talking about?”
“Hey, how did they leave?”
Chang Yue looked dissatisfied, feeling it was too disrespectful to him: “I haven’t finished analyzing yet!”
“You still analyze?”
Zheng Ming didn’t hesitate to expose him: “As if you’ve had many relationships like that, Xiao Chunan.”
“Better than some people who haven’t had even one.”
Chang Yue retorted, then calmly added: “I have a basis for this; a lot of it I learned from books.”
“Books? What books?”
The chubby Lucia, who had been silently watching the drama unfold, asked; he was the youngest in the team.
“‘After the Divorce, My Psychotic Ex-Wife Pursues Me Relentlessly,’ let me tell you…”
Chang Yue excitedly started narrating the plot.
Lin Qingyan exchanged glances with the other two teammates, both of whom saw the same helplessness in each other’s eyes.
With such a sunny disposition, how could he enjoy such things?
Lin Qingyan kicked Chang Yue’s chair: “Shut up, no one wants to hear your review.”
After thinking for a moment, he frowned slightly and asked: “So, who is that waitress you mentioned? Why did she spill coffee on Su Yan?”
“She’s the waitress at the coffee shop at the street entrance.”
Chang Yue recounted the incident from a couple of days ago, cleverly omitting that it was he who accidentally bumped into that woman.
Immediately, a vision of the Flower Language Coffee Shop came to Lin Qingyan’s mind.
He remembered it; he had bought coffee there a few times before. The specialty was coffee brewed with flower pollen, and to be honest, it was quite tasty, but just a bit too sweet for his taste.
So, it seems the latte Su Yan brought them yesterday was from that shop.
“What do you think, captain? Do you think there’s something between them?”
Lin Qingyan gave him a look of disbelief, slowly exhaling: “Have you gone crazy reading novels?”
From what he knew about his old teammate, it was purely about him loving that coffee; how could there be too much to it?
Out of curiosity, he asked, “How does that waitress look?”
“Pretty!”
Chang Yue got excited about this topic: “Not kidding, she’s really super beautiful—has a mature lady face, and there’s a beauty mark at the corner of her eye. Wow, really has that vibe, bro.”
Mature lady?
Beauty mark?
“Is she tall?”
“Among girls, she’s probably considered tall, about one hundred seventy cm or so?”
“Captain, why are you asking this?” Zheng Ming asked.
“…Nothing.”
Lin Qingyan shook his head, but inside, he couldn’t help but feel a bit uneasy; it perfectly matched Su Yan’s type, huh? That mature lady fan…
Meanwhile, on the other side.
Su Yan was walking along the road, rapidly typing with his fingers, and the chat records flashed before his eyes.
Simai Lu: What’s today’s update?
I’m a Pigeon: Not in the mood, no update.
Simai Lu: Who upset you?
I’m a Pigeon: The child’s father.
Simai Lu: ?
What do you mean?
Su Yan was taken aback by this statement; what did “the child’s father” even mean? Has his long-time online friend become so abstract?
I’m a Pigeon: If, and I mean if.
I’m a Pigeon: One day, you suddenly find out that your future self is a Nantong.
I’m a Pigeon: What’s your reaction?
Simai Lu: But I’m not a Nantong.
I’m a Pigeon: I know you’re not! I’m not either! Who told you I was?!
Su Yan: ?
No, buddy, I didn’t say you were either?
Simai Lu: Oh~ I get it, so your husband upset you, right?
I’m a Pigeon: You’re the only one with a husband, **; your whole family has husbands, **.
Su Yan: …
He just wanted to make a joke; was it necessary to scold him like that?
I’m a Pigeon: I want to kill him; no, no, wait, I’ll castrate him instead!
Su Yan was completely confused. Who on earth upset you, buddy? Calm down, ah, Pigeon!
He just couldn’t make sense of it.
Feeling puzzled, Su Yan stared at the direct, murderous words from Pigeon-kun, but suddenly felt a chill run down his spine.
Eh? What’s going on?
Who is cursing behind his back?
He shook his head and put his phone away, thinking it was better not to provoke things by sending messages.
When he arrived at the door of Flower Language Coffee Shop, he immediately spotted the waitress who spilled coffee all over him standing at the front desk, and he suddenly recalled Chang Yue’s words, stopping his hand which was about to push the door.
Would she really misunderstand that I like her?
No, no, no, just thinking about it seems impossible; has he been assimilated? Why would he even consider such foolish questions?
And as for her disliking him?
Nonsense?!
He is a customer!
Why would she dislike him? By turning down his money, he’d really have to question her intelligence.
With that thought, Su Yan confidently pushed the door open and walked in.
Business at the shop was quite good today; the sunlight was just right outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, and the rich aroma of latte wafted through the coffee shop.
Su Yan looked around, not seeing the shop manager who had left a deep impression on him, and upon noticing this, he unconsciously sighed in relief.
Then, he walked up to the front desk.
Su Yan had his hands in his pockets, staring at the menu. After confirming his order, he said to the woman, “One cup…”
“Roll.”
“???”
