10. Emilia’s Layered Strategies
Originally, Emilia shouldn’t have appeared in that fateful alley. Her purpose of coming to Worry-Free City was nothing more than transferring schools.
As for the reason…
It has already been mentioned that Emilia, due to still retaining some habits from her human days, was not well-liked by some angels. In fact, that was already a rather gentle way of putting it.
Because in reality, the number of angels who disliked her was not just “a little bit”…
Most of the current angels have not experienced the past wars between Hell and Heaven. Living in a greenhouse, they have long forgotten their duties as angels, remaining only with arrogance and laziness as a superior species. The vast majority of angels neglect their training, indulging in desserts and pleasures all day, completely ignoring the wishes from the Human Realm.
Emilia, however, was different from them.
She diligently practiced magic every day, and coupled with her magical talent that even Angel Lord Mikayla praised, within just a year of becoming an angel, she became the strongest among the two-winged angels.
The number of wings can somewhat represent an angel’s strength, and Emilia was praised as the most promising of the younger generation to become the next four-winged angel.
Naturally, this sparked jealousy among the other angels. They already looked down on this colleague who had just recently fallen from the Human Realm, and now, having been here for less than a year, she was already overshadowing them and even receiving praise from the Angel Lord, kindling the flames of jealousy in their hearts.
“Look at that new girl, trying so hard to show off!”
“Yeah, yeah, she runs to the Human Realm all day. I think it’s because she has spent too long with humans; even her behavior logic has become like theirs!”
“And also, let me tell you, she even…”
…
Such voices could be heard almost every time Emilia returned to Heaven, which prevented her from making even a single friend among the angels. In simpler terms, she was isolated by them.
Of course, the older generation of angels still liked this hardworking child, and the voices isolating and disliking her mostly circulated among the younger generation.
However, for Emilia, the opinions of the other angels didn’t matter; not only did other angels dislike her, but she also didn’t like those lazy and arrogant angels.
After all, if they could calm down and fulfill their duties as angels, how could the Human Realm have become such a chaotic mixture? How could her brother have ended up in such a tragic situation?
Therefore, the things they were unwilling to do, Emilia would do! The kindness and justice they were unwilling to uphold, Emilia would uphold!
The contradiction between Emilia and the other angels was certainly not only conceptual; purely in terms of intelligence, Emilia looked down on these angels.
Due to their excessively comfortable lives, the younger generation of angels almost never stepped outside of Heaven from birth to growth, living in an environment devoid of deceit and lies. Their personalities… could be said to be excessively simple.
To put it this way, if these angels were dropped into the Human Realm, they would be the kind who could be easily tricked into bed dozens of times in one night and even help count money for others afterward.
Forming small cliques and excluding newcomers was the biggest malice they could possess…
Compared to them, Emilia’s somewhat scheming personality was almost a dimensional blow…
Back in the day, when executing some team tasks, due to being isolated by the other angels in her squad, Emilia thought about getting a little revenge on them, so she deliberately tricked them during the task… and then while those angels went back in tears to complain to their seniors, she pretended to be sweet and pitiful, cleverly changing the narrative to “the other angels in the squad conspired to frame her to bully her.”
In the end, as Emilia expected, the similarly naive other angels believed her words, and in turn berated the other angels in the squad! Looking back now, recalling the scene of herself sitting by, enjoying snacks while watching those idiot angels being scolded by their seniors, Emilia still feels quite pleased.
In conclusion, due to the irreconcilable conflict between Emilia and the younger generation of angels, along with Emilia’s own requests, Angel Lord Mikayla eventually agreed to Emilia’s request to return to the Human Realm to continue living with her parents from her human days.
Thus, Emilia happily returned home, planning to resume her carefree school life.
However, new problems soon followed…
Although Emilia learned quite a few spells in Heaven due to her excellent magical talent, most of them were related to combat; she had never touched spells for concealment or disguise!
The most she could do was hide the pure white wings that symbolized her as an angel.
Therefore, when she returned to school that day, it instantly caused a huge uproar on campus…
After having a rough time at school, Emilia came back with a long face and demanded to transfer. Finally, seeing her parents’ somewhat gloating expressions, the family decided to let Emilia attend the city where her parents had once lived—Worry-Free City—under the identity of a returning mixed-blood child. Conveniently, her parents had a property that was temporarily rented out in Worry-Free City. The tenants were a girl who was also in high school, so Emilia’s parents discussed with the other parents who rented the house, allowing Emilia to move in, specifically into another room that had now become vacant.
And this is why Emilia appeared in Worry-Free City.
Unexpectedly, she encountered an incident on her very first night in Worry-Free City.
Learning about a murder that had occurred not far from her location in Heaven, with some subtle magical fluctuations at the scene, she hurriedly rushed to the site, ultimately managing to intercept the person in a dark alley thanks to her excellent intuition and reasoning skills.
What happened next no longer needs much explanation.
Seeing that the other person’s appearance was very much to her liking, Emilia couldn’t help but have the thought of wanting to take the other person back as a plush toy to warm her bed, which ended up annoying the Devil Miss, who had just finished a call with her father and was in a bad mood. In the end, she endured a lesson in love from the Devil Miss and could only awkwardly use magic to teleport back to her hotel.
The original plan to quickly resolve things to meet her new roommate was dashed.
