21. Haha, big fool!
“Hahaha! It’s done! The demon’s corpse and soul, I’ve finally got them!!!”
Seeing his ambush plan come to fruition, the figure that had been hiding in Evelyn’s shadow finally revealed itself. He excitedly approached the evil beast that was frantically tearing at the remnants on the ground, with a faint crimson light flickering in his hand.
“I thought I would have to put in more effort, but it turned out to be this easy! Now I just need to get that angel’s corpse and soul, and the plan will achieve its optimal effect! This is amazing, really amazing!!! After all these years, I can finally see the dawn of success for my plan!!!”
The Black-robed Man laughed hysterically, his eyes filled with excitement and fanaticism. He casually kicked the evil beast that was still gnawing on the remnants, growling fiercely, “Enough already, beast!!! The demon’s corpse is precious and must not be wasted!”
Kicked by the man, the evil beast was sent crashing into the wall, letting out a painful wail. It slowly got up from the ground, lowering its body slightly, and growled fiercely at the Black-robed Man. However, just one glance from the Black-robed Man’s eyes filled the beast with a primal fear, causing it to obediently lie down like a trained pet, its eyes filled with longing and desire for the nearby corpse.
“Hmph! It’s just a beast after all.”
With a cold snort, the Black-robed Man eagerly sliced open his palm that was glowing with crimson light, a strange blood droplet slowly rising from the flesh of his hand, its blood light casting a more sinister glow in the dimly lit alleyway.
“I’ll take the demon’s soul!”
The Black-robed Man spread his arms wide, eagerly awaiting the moment when the demon soul, which he had longed for, would be swallowed by the blood droplet. However, as time ticked by, the crimson droplet continued to radiate its eerie light, but the lifeless corpse lying on the ground showed no signs of responding.
“Huh? What’s going on?”
The Black-robed Man’s actions froze as he looked confusedly at the blood droplet. The “container” couldn’t possibly have a problem, but it was clear that no soul was being drawn from this demon corpse. Thus, the issue must be with… the corpse itself.
With that thought, he squatted down, using the bright red light of the blood droplet to inspect the lifeless “remains” lying silently on the ground.
“Something seems… off?”
The Black-robed Man frowned slightly, tentatively poking the “remains” with his hand… It wasn’t the touch of skin, but something elastic and incredibly smooth…
Under the illuminating red light of the blood droplet, the Black-robed Man finally realized the true nature of the “remains” in front of him.
It was a… doll nearly the size of a real person!
The doll’s face had a small paper attached to it, depicting a cartoonish Evelyn making a silly face, next to it were three neatly written large characters—“Big Fool”!
“???”
The Black-robed Man was instantly dumbfounded, and before he could recover from his shock, a sweet voice tinged with a bit of pride suddenly rang out behind him.
“Are you finally reacting? Big fool!”
“Who!”
The Black-robed Man turned around sharply, but in the next moment, his vision was filled with a black shoe sole growing larger.
“It’s your great aunt!!!”
Evelyn kicked the Black-robed Man squarely in the face, launching him across the room! His body traced a graceful arc in the air before crashing heavily to the ground.
The once-crouched evil beast, not having reacted to what had just happened, widened its eyes to look at the fallen Black-robed Man and then at Evelyn, who stood smugly; for a moment, it didn’t know what to do next.
Forget it, I’ll just stay down.

“You actually turned such a cute little puppy into this utterly un-cute state; you’re really something.”
Glimpsing at the evil beast crouched nearby, Evelyn flashed a displeased expression. She had genuinely been tempted to take that little puppy home! She had intended to consider her new roommate’s thoughts before making a decision, and now, that detestable Black-robed Man had directly dashed her plan to take the puppy home.
“How could this be? When did you…? I clearly saw you being taken down by that beast…”
The Black-robed Man stumbled to his feet, his eyes hidden beneath the cloak filled with thoughts of impossibility. His question naturally drew a laugh from Evelyn, who struck a pose of “everything is in control” and cheerfully said to him, “Didn’t expect you to really be a fool; I noticed you trailing me since you were sneaking behind me! Did you really think you were hiding well? Laughable, with your hiding technique, anyone could spot you!”
Faced with Evelyn’s ridicule, the Black-robed Man could only grit his teeth, unable to contain his rage. He knew very well that in a one-on-one confrontation, he stood no chance against this demon; otherwise, he wouldn’t have resorted to such underhanded tactics—now that his scheme had been exposed, he could not engage her in further direct conflict!
“Beast! Stop her for me!”
With a wave of his hand, the once-crouched evil beast sprang to its feet, baring its teeth and lunging at Evelyn. Facing the looming sharp fangs, Evelyn merely smiled calmly and casually pulled out a light purple shotgun from under her skirt, shooting at the evil beast that was charging at her.
The bullet inscribed with the magic formula easily struck the evil beast’s head, the powerful impact instantly sending it flying! It didn’t end there; the spiraling bullet suddenly exploded, activating the hidden summoning circle within it. A pale purple magic circle opened in the air, followed by a ferocious roar that erupted from the summoning circle, and the next moment, a formidable magical beast covered in black scales lunged out.
This magical beast was the size of a tiger, sporting dual horns, with red eyes, robust limbs, and exuding a scorching aura from Hell. The heavily scaled body, resembling solidified magma, shimmered with a reddish glow.
The Hell Beast, Acheron, is one of the most common and numerous magical beasts in Hell. Yet even so, it was an authentic magical beast, far superior to the evil beast the Black-robed Man had modified from an ordinary puppy.
The difference between magical beasts and evil beasts, though it may seem a mere character apart, is not something words can describe!
