Chapter 108: Traitor
“Mom needs more than just money, and she’s really useless, can’t do anything well.”
Suya’s hands were clenched on her thighs, her nails digging into her skin, her body tense, and her response came with great difficulty.
Seeing Suya, who had almost instantly become fragile, Sumu felt an inexplicable pang in her heart.
But she had to continue asking; there were some things she had to figure out no matter what.
“I’m not a child anymore, why are you still hiding things from me? What is Dad really doing, and what are you doing? I’ve always wanted to know!”
Although Sumu appeared still quite youthful, she was, after all, an eighteen-year-old adult, a girl with her own opinions.
Be it the issue of money or more complex matters, she was already capable of facing things alone!
Suya furrowed her brows tighter, her hands clenching even more tightly, like a child interrogated about wrongdoings, nervous and at a loss for words about what to say and what not to say.
“No, there are some things I can’t confide in you. I hope you can grow up safely and peacefully.”
“But I’m already a magical girl now!”
Upon hearing this, Suya instantly fell silent, her pupils trembling slightly as she tried to look away from Sumu.
It was as if she didn’t dare to face her past self; Sumu’s appearance was too much like her own.
“Why do you look so unfazed?”
Suya remained silent and lowered her head slightly, making Sumu seem a bit taller.
“I’m going home right away to ask for clarification in person.”
“No, you can’t…”
“I’m not asking for your opinion.”
Sumu’s gaze was piercing as it locked onto Suya, her teeth biting into her lower lip.
“Don’t say this is to protect me or anything. Whenever I need you, you’re always asleep, always sleeping… Don’t blame me for being willful; I just want answers.”
She still couldn’t bring herself to say hurtful things.
She didn’t know why she was so soft-hearted. Clearly, she had once recklessly provoked others online.
A suffocating silence enveloped the two, as time dragged on slowly and painfully.
The appetizing dishes remained untouched, but fortunately, this was just a dream; it wouldn’t go cold.
As long as the owner of the dream didn’t grow tired, the dishes would stay fresh and appetizing forever.
But unfortunately, this was just a dream; no matter how much food she consumed, it wouldn’t satisfy her hunger, and no matter how much love and guilt she felt from Suya, it all felt unreal.
Sumu even questioned the authenticity of this Suya; perhaps she was merely the idealized image of a mother in her mind, unable to accompany her due to some hardship yet able to appear promptly when needed.
She wanted this to be the real Suya, but the moment she recalled that drowsy mother, Sumu was once again yanked away from the fantasy by that strong sense of irreconcilable separation between reality and dreams.
“I’m leaving.”
Originally intending to access the next memory point, but now, she had to wake up to book a ticket.
Hearing Sumu’s last light words, Suya abruptly lifted her head as if shocked, wanting to grab Sumu’s hand.
But she was too far away, and her timing was too late; all she could do was watch Sumu’s figure disappear from the dream.
Regret, guilt, and helplessness intertwined, wanting to break free from the shackles of the dream.
Suya on the couch lifted her heavy eyelids and once again saw the familiar, gray ceiling.
Her ice-blue eyes reflected that view, seemingly dulling as well.
All the feelings from just now were filtered and dismissed until only weariness remained when they settled in her being.
She wanted to cry, but no tears came; her once lively eyes felt like a dried-up lake, no longer glimmering as they once did.
————————————
“What are you doing? I’ll kill you all!”
No. 6 Ning Xi struggled to break free from her restraints; she didn’t know how many times she had faced such similar situations.
—Tightly bound by others.
It was almost targeted at her shapely figure, making her feel uncomfortable but not suffocating, driving onlookers to discomfort to the point of suffocation.
Due to being an experiment subject, her magic power index was just 5%, not suited for strength; the restraints used for dealing with psychotic patients were already sufficient for her.
Coupled with the shackles specifically used to suppress magical power, she was currently being shamefully scrutinized by those leering researchers.
Yet even this group of powerless individuals understood that even if her magic was sealed, her body was still lethal to ordinary people; a slight touch would make them willingly act as her dogs.
So, even though they itched with desire, they restrained themselves and didn’t dare to do anything out of line.
“Hehe, don’t rush, take a good look at who I am?”
A girl with the same facial features suddenly emerged with a grin, leaning her face close to No. 6 Ning Xi, her expression the absolute opposite of serious, sporting an exaggerated smile.
“You… No. 1? You traitor!”
“Oh? Who did I betray? You? Or the Combat Department? Or magical girl Ning Xi?”
“You sided with those who dissect us, standing with those disgusting guys around…”
“What do you mean by siding? We shouldn’t have rejected the Combat Department; they are the ones who granted us life.”
The two eyed each other, but one was a high-ranking operative of the Combat Department, while the other was merely an escaped experiment subject, a failed captive of a riot, drawing a stark contrast in their perspectives.
Both being experiment subjects but carrying different destinies meant they naturally had varying views of the world, not to mention No. 6 Ning Xi was the most chaotic individual among them.
“Don’t hold a grudge against me; I’m not here to specifically mock you, though it is certainly amusing.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“I mean to become one with you.”
No. 1 Ning Xi suddenly became serious; her eyes, still crescent-shaped, held no jest in her voice.
“Become one? Haha, didn’t expect you to have such a self-indulgent kink. Then come on, let me feel the sensation of being pleasured by myself.”
Upon hearing this, No. 6 Ning Xi slightly froze, a knowing, wicked smile immediately spreading across her face. She extended her pink tongue to lick her vibrant red lips, her demeanor suddenly becoming more alluring.
Switching from hatred to desire occurred almost seamlessly, leaving No. 1 Ning Xi speechless with laughter.
Yearning for caresses while despising those who coveted her body, she couldn’t fathom how this contradictory state was simultaneously present within her.
“There isn’t much time for frivolous talk; even I’m getting serious, so of course, it’s about something important.”
“Don’t tell me what you mean is…”
“Exactly, I’ve had enough of being incomplete, so guess how many kinds of emotions I currently have?”
