Chapter 3: I’m a Magical Girl!
The bathroom door successfully blocked the various debris splashing from outside, and the clean, smooth white tiles provided Sumu with a sense of reassurance, allowing him to catch his breath.
In the mirror, his fluffy, soft pink short hair appeared tousled due to the panic, nearly obscuring half of Sumu’s delicate cheeks, making them seem only palm-sized.
After wiping the beads of sweat from his neck with a nearby cloth, Sumu’s skin, which had been so pale from tension, gradually regained its color.
A crunch of broken wood echoed from the entrance, and the footsteps of Lando and another person stopped in the living room.
“Miti, where do you think that little brat is hiding? It wouldn’t be here, would it—”
The sound of a heavy object being overturned made Sumu flinch; it seemed the sofa had met a tragic fate.
“Lando, don’t be so rough. We are on official duty; even though that guy has gone too far, at least it’s still a matter of citizenship. These damages will count against the Headquarters.”
“Tsk, then let it be under my personal name.”
Listening to the two of them as their footsteps drifted farther away, seemingly heading toward the bedroom, Sumu finally sighed in relief and focused his gaze on the star-shaped emblem on the washstand.
Now he had time to carefully examine this emblem, which he could barely hold in one hand. Inside the bright yellow gemstone swirled hints of light blue, flickering in and out.
This was the transformation device that those magical girls relied on while fighting monsters every day. No one knew who crafted it since this was all classified information.
However, Sumu had often seen those magical girls transform on screen. It seemed that by pressing it against their chests, white strands of light would emerge from behind the emblem, enveloping their bodies and forming a battle suit.
Unfortunately, this process would not reveal any skin beyond their faces, leading people to only fantasize about the graceful curves outlined by the white light.
At this point, Sumu had no mind to recall those scenes; he was just worried about what consequences would arise from using it.
Monsters like him could easily be burned by the holy light of magical girls.
Lower-rank monsters would have their limbs melt like snow upon contact with a magical girl’s weapon, and E-rank monsters like Sumu did not need to be mentioned.
However, that rabbit did not seem to worry about this issue, or maybe she simply did not care about her own life; she merely wanted to use herself for experiments.
Headache.
Sumu nervously fidgeted with the transformation device, his feet lightly tapping the ground, completely at a loss.
The male dignity that had initially been a nuisance was quickly shattered under the threat of life; after all, ancient people could even harm themselves for a position, so transforming was nothing in comparison.
If it ended up in Lando’s hands, who knew how she would torment him—her methods of dealing with monsters could be ruthless.
With one punch, a monster the size of a small mountain could be smashed into pieces; the staff at the exhibition hall took three days to gather all the fragments.
The asphalt road was smashed down into a three-meter deep depression, and the countless cracks spread to nearby buildings, likely costing billions, almost equivalent to the destruction caused by the octopus monster.
After that, Lando was ordered not to use her fists to deal with monsters, and Sumu took the opportunity to post sarcastic remarks about it, almost advancing in popularity due to the backlash from numerous fans.
Among the harshest critics was someone named Jialando, who detailed how she would deal with Sumu if she caught him, a memory that still sent chills down his spine.
—That must have been Lando herself.
Thinking of this, Sumu couldn’t help but intake a sharp breath, deciding to take a risk, slowly pressing the transformation device against his chest.
Tell my mom I’m not a coward!
A gust of cold wind blew through, making Sumu’s hair stir, freezing the tense expression on his face.
Nothing happened.
Sumu probably saw that holy white light when the magical girls transformed, but that was just the heavenly light he saw after tightly closing his eyes.
“No, why isn’t there any reaction! You dead rabbit, are you using a knockoff on me… Where’s my phone, where’s my phone?”
Sumu hurriedly searched every pocket on his body, but found no sign of his phone.
He must have dropped it outside in the rush to come in.
That meant—
The bedroom door suddenly burst open, and footsteps reappeared in the living room.
“Seems like you really enjoy playing hide and seek, little guy. I know you’re in here; the screen is still lit. Come out quickly, I promise I won’t kill you.”
Damn it!
Sumu could only pray that the transformation device in his hand was genuine, struggling to push it against his chest while repeatedly mumbling words related to transformation.
Lando’s footsteps drew closer along this side of the hallway. The other magical girl named Miti seemed to be lingering in the bedroom, but wasn’t this just perfect for Lando to have some time alone with him!
The frosted glass of the bathroom suddenly reflected a long blue hair and a slender figure, causing Sumu’s heart to leap to his throat at the sight.
“Hey, what’s this?”
The figure suddenly bent down, searching for something on the floor.
His phone!
Moments later, Lando stood up with a soft laugh, easily breaking a piece of glass on the door with her knuckles, leaning out like a killer from a horror film, pleasantly stating:
“Found you, little mouse.”
Sumu’s pupils widened in fear, his entire being curled up in a corner of the bathroom, desperately hiding from Lando’s gaze while trying to squeeze out the meager negative energy inside him towards the transformation device.
Wah, I don’t want to die, at least not at Lando’s hands!
Soon, Lando noticed the trembling pink furball in the corner, her eyes filled with amusement, a demonic smile crawling onto her previously cat-like, adorable face.
“I’ll count to four. If you don’t obediently open the door, I’ll come in myself—”
Counting to four again!
Not bothering to complain about this, Sumu’s energy gradually flowed into the transformation device. To his astonishment, in the moment he felt the energy merging, an inexplicable sense of affinity surged, soft white light was activated and flowed into his limbs.
“One, two, three…”
Lando’s crisp voice gradually faded from Sumu’s awareness. At this moment, he was enveloped in a warm sensation, unawares that his silky pink hair had already fallen to the ground.
The cold wall continued to absorb the heat radiating from her body, soothing the tension in her heart.
“Four!”
A pale hand reached through the broken hole, unlocking the bathroom door from the inside. Lando’s figure finally fully appeared before him.
And when she noticed the trembling pink Shushu, her breath caught in her throat.
Why does this guy look like this?
Like some startled little creature, making her reluctant to strike.
Driven by curiosity, Lando extended her hand to brush aside Sumu’s long hair covering his eyes.
As she did so, her gaze met his pair of wet, deep blue eyes, trembling like a newborn deer amidst cold and fear.
“Damn it, I can’t bring myself to do it!”
