Chapter 40: The Dilemma About Swimsuits
“Uh, that’s good, so how should I help you?”
Upon hearing this, Sumu let out a long breath; it seemed that things weren’t sliding into the abyss after all.
“Help me scan the captured mutant. There are parts of this woman in her magic core. I want to use this to know her whereabouts, nothing more.”
Sumu scratched her head, recalling how Ning Xi had meekly responded to Irina’s training, and nodded.
“It shouldn’t be a problem, but she should be with Tang Nai now. Let’s head back first.”
Just as Sumu was about to get up, Luo Jialan quickly grasped her wrist.
“Don’t be in a rush. Your training just started today, and I’m not in a hurry here.”
With her back to Luo Jialan, Sumu’s face instantly turned sorrowful upon hearing this sentence.
Come on, there’s no way my training should be less important than something that sounds so heavy!
But just hearing the tone Luo Jialan used when mentioning her mother made it seem like that was really just a stranger worth her attention, which piqued Sumu’s curiosity about what had actually happened between them.
It was fine to ask directly, but it seemed Luo Jialan didn’t want to bring it up. It would be better to wait until they scanned the mutant first.
About an hour later.
Sumu struggled to take off her gloves, handing them to Luo Jialan, then collapsed on the mat and stared blankly at the ceiling.
Shushu has completely burned out.
Damn it, L, when you get back to work, I will definitely order two small cups of freshly squeezed orange juice online every day, so you can experience the taste of sore wrists too!
When they returned to the café, it was already afternoon. The consecutive sunny days had caused the temperature to soar to an astonishing 33°C.
Tang Nai raised an eyebrow at Sumu in the game room and glanced at Luo Jialan beside her.
“You just awakened your ability, so it’s best not to recklessly invade someone else’s mental domain until you master it, especially with that guy we just caught; one slip and you could get brainwashed into a total idiot.”
Although Tang Nai spoke in a light tone, Sumu couldn’t help but shrink her neck.
That sounds quite bad.
“In that case, let’s start a month of magic power and ability control training first.”
Luo Jialan suddenly said this, which made Sumu’s heart feel cold for a moment.
“That’s right, Little L, give Sumu a good practice. It would be best if she comes back every day like she is now, trembling.”
Tang Nai had already noticed Sumu’s continuously trembling calves, secretly laughing to herself.
“However, we can relax a bit in a few days. Lemon and Xiaomo are finally back, but they will leave again next week, so I decided to take the opportunity to relax, like going to the beach.”
The beach?
Sumu randomly recalled the dream she had about the beach, waking up immediately upon noticing that she was wearing a hodgepodge battle suit.
A typical nightmare; showing up in a strange place in horrible clothing. At that time, she thought it was just because of her stress.
However, considering the dreams of late, Sumu felt something was off about the coincidences.
She had never been to the beach and had never seen Luo Jialan in a swimsuit, so logically, there was no reason she would dream of something like that.
Now that Tang Nai mentioned it, Sumu couldn’t help but feel puzzled.
Yet, thinking aimlessly like this was meaningless, it would be better to consider what she should wear.
In any case, it absolutely couldn’t be that hodgepodge battle suit.
But Sumu’s heart was tremendously resistant to swimsuits.
After all, she was still avoiding various issues of becoming a girl.
Things like going to the bathroom or showering, she tried to avoid looking at the private parts, which was a hassle but still manageable.
This also led her to not yet adapt to her body, merely using the method of shifting her focus elsewhere to ignore all kinds of problems.
Like a student who knows they haven’t touched their vacation homework but continues to waste energy on fun to avoid anxiety.
The school days will always come, and in the end, she’ll still have to pull an all-nighter to create miracles with a single pen.
“Don’t worry, I’ve picked out a swimsuit for you. Sumu just needs to grit her teeth and change into it.”
Tang Nai had already guessed that Sumu would be tangled up, so she decided to give her a push, not allowing her to continue avoiding it.
“Going to the beach in the coming days is great too; because of those monsters, not many people want to go out now, so there shouldn’t be many at the beach.”
Luo Jialan, unaware of Sumu’s past, didn’t catch the deeper meaning in Tang Nai’s words; she just thought Sumu was still a bit timid in situations like that. Still, going to the beach was indeed a good idea.
The martial arts hall had no air conditioning; the nights recently were as hot as a steam room, and during the day they couldn’t even relax in the Snow King’s cool breeze, so she had similar intentions.
The Desire Witch or whatever… I’ll just look for her later.
Actually, a few days ago when punching the sandbag, and even today when she brought up the question at the martial arts hall, Luo Jialan had briefly made up her mind.
But hearing Tang Nai’s words, her already indecisive self temporarily abandoned that plan.
Just like saying “I’ll start learning English tomorrow,” every time she opened the vocabulary list, she only remembered the word “abandon” before giving up.
Life without the Desire Witch was going smoothly for her, even more relaxed than before.
At this point, going to the beach to switch up her mood would be good too.
Thinking this, Luo Jialan inadvertently glanced at Sumu, who was anxiously fidgeting with her feet, her hands tightly clutching her hair.
She looked quite anxious.
It was just wearing a swimsuit after all; hadn’t she had experiences like that before?
