Chapter Nine: Must Suck! I’ll Provide the Magic Power for the Sucking.
“Witch, you must be a witch for sure.”
Sumu murmured to herself, staring blankly at the ceiling, her pair of azure eyes completely devoid of sparkle, like a fish out of water.
“Oh dear, that’s so hard to hear. Even so, I am technically the highest authority in this city, yet I maintain this peaceful place every day.”
“If I remember correctly, you were playing games when you came in…”
“Huh? During my free time like this, if I’m not playing games, guess where my extra energy would go?”
Sumu pouted and stopped talking.
It was really unwise to bicker with this guy.
At that moment, she suddenly noticed that her clothes had been changed, and the cartoon-style rabbit print made it easy to tell who had picked them.
Clearly, it was Tang Nai who had helped her change, but at this point, dwelling on such things was irrelevant.
“Speaking of which, you must have a lot of questions concerning the Magical Girls and your situation.”
Tang Nai suddenly brought up the topic, shifting the conversation.
Hearing this, Sumu blinked. She was indeed curious now but didn’t know where to start asking.
There were too many doubts, all piled together made her mind feel overloaded.
“Actually, when I said before the examination that you might not have a ‘skin swallow,’ I was lying. Your body is actually very healthy.”
Sumu couldn’t help but pull at the corner of her mouth.
Having been zapped by who knows how many volts and still being fine? Of course, I’m quite healthy.
“But health isn’t the reason I’m looking for you, and pretending to be a Magical Girl isn’t it either. Don’t you want to ask about the real reason behind this?”
“If I ask, will you tell me?”
Sumu glared with dead fish eyes at Tang Nai.
What this guy would say completely depended on her mood; it didn’t really matter whether she asked or not.
“Just a bit more trust, okay? I’ve always been very straightforward.”
Tang Nai smiled slightly, her face still appearing pure and harmless.
So, stop doing things with an angel’s face that even Satan would shake his head at!
“It’s because you have very good magical aptitude. If I were to leave you unchecked, you might gradually expand your influence through the internet and unintentionally become a troublesome witch.”
“What witch? Shouldn’t that be a monster?”
Sumu raised an eyebrow; the image of a witch was usually depicted as a villain tormenting numerous Magical Girls in short stories, but she had never heard of it in reality.
“A Magical Girl who falls into darkness becomes a witch. With more Dark Magic you take in, you’ll gradually become addicted to it, and fall within a very short time.”
Dark Magic? That should refer to the energy of Negative Emotions.
“But I should be a normal adult male. Even if I fall, I shouldn’t become a witch. What about you? How did you turn me into this?”
Sumu gently squeezed the soft lump in her chest; her hands were instantly enveloped by the warmth, making her blush a little, almost too shy to face her own body.
“Isn’t that your own fault for pretending to be a Magical Girl? You were able to maintain your form before because everyone treated you as an electronic pet, but as your reputation grows, someone will inevitably believe it.”
Tang Nai made a scissors gesture with her fingers and said dangerously:
“At that point, you would go through a torturous time, caught between male and female, watching as your small bits shrink back day by day, while your brothers drag you saying how delicious you smell. Even when you completely become a girl, your chest would be as flat as a board.”
Listening to Tang Nai’s description, Sumu couldn’t help but shiver; it really did sound terrifying.
So regretful, she should have chosen to join a more authoritative collective from the start.
Wait, that didn’t seem right either, that would have made her become a stereotypical P.
“But it’s precisely for this reason that you accidentally unlocked the talent of a Magical Girl.”
If it was the talent to become a Magical Girl like you, I’d still rather be a minor monster.
“So, a Magical Girl acquires the magic power needed to survive by absorbing Positive Emotions? I’ve been absorbing Negative ones this whole time.”
Tang Nai shook her head.
“Of course not. The magic power of a Magical Girl primarily comes from attention, which can be positive or just not too negative, as long as it doesn’t fall severely into the category of witch.”
“You mean the more fans I have, the stronger I become?”
“It should be said believers. What you are believed to be capable of, you will gain corresponding abilities.”
Sounds like a god-like setting.
And with that said, Sumu suddenly realized why she had caused so much resentment in L.
Everything she wrote was totally pushing her towards being a succubus!
“So, Irina, you probably also guess what abilities you should have now, right?”
Of course, I know.
Never won a fight, never lost a verbal battle, except for this guy in front of me.
“What if I’m hungry in the future?”
If she doesn’t absorb magic power, it’s like a vampire without blood; no matter how much regular food is consumed, she would eventually starve to death.
“Magic power can be stored and shared. The storage device you received today contains magic power I specially prepared for you, allowing you to skip the transitional phase and become a Magical Girl directly.”
“So I can still get it from you.”
Tang Nai flashed a meaningful expression, and Sumu immediately realized what she was about to say next.
“You know, Irina, everything has a price.”
“I don’t want it. I’ll just continue to act honestly.”
Of course, Tang Nai wouldn’t let her continue to act. Otherwise, wouldn’t that be wasting her efforts to catch her?
“That’s not acceptable! It’s a must. I’ll provide the magic power for the sucking, hand me your phone.”
After searching on a mysterious shopping website with Sumu’s phone, Tang Nai quickly placed an identical star-patterned emblem picture in front of Sumu.
The price displayed made Sumu’s head spin—it was a lot of zeros, that much was clear.
“This is the price of the storage device I gave you today, but since it’s community support, it won’t count as the full price. Let’s give you a 2.5 discount, and you just owe me this amount.”
Tang Nai tapped a few times on the calculator, and the crisp electronic voice immediately read out the jaw-dropping number.
“One hundred fifty thousand.”
Sumu rolled her eyes back, softly collapsing to the ground, feeling utterly drained again.
Just got arrested, not yet an adult but perfectly unable to enjoy juvenile protection, now in debt of one hundred fifty thousand, and her home was violently dismantled by law enforcement—it seemed she might end up homeless soon.
This life was truly full of hopes.
