Chapter 59 – Too Much
When Luo Yueguan saw Jiang Huai, he was pruning rose branches in the garden.
“What kind of flower is this?” Luo Yueguan gazed at the pure white roses, momentarily stunned. In all her years, she had never seen one.
“Roses. They aren’t spirit flowers, just material for making Luo Shen flower tea,” Jiang Huai said, snipping off a small branch and explaining slowly to Luo Yueguan. Luo Yueguan walked over to him, bowed slightly, and leaned in, catching a whiff of flower fragrance.
Jiang Huai stood beside her. Her purple dress clung to her graceful figure, and as she bowed, the curves of her slender waist and snow-white buttocks were on full display. So lewd.
Strange, it wasn’t lewd before. Perhaps it was because he had seen Luo Yueguan in revealing clothing too often, that his imagination made it lewd. Jiang Huai averted his gaze and heard Luo Yueguan ask softly, “Can you give me one?”
“Shall I give you a whole bush to take home and tend to yourself?”
“So generous?”
“They aren’t valuable items anyway.” Jiang Huai selected a cluster of roses, dug them up by the roots, and even found a pot for Luo Yueguan. Luo Yueguan happily stored it in her Storage Ring, then looked at Jiang Huai, “I have good news for you.”
“Good news?”
“Your Master and I have discussed it. Your wedding date with Qingyu is set for the end of the year.” Luo Yueguan straightened her body, her hands clasped behind her back, her eyes playfully appraising Jiang Huai.
Jiang Huai froze for a moment, unsure how to respond.
“What? Is it not good news?”
“Of course it is,” Jiang Huai replied softly, turning his cheek away. “Does Master really think so too?”
“Yes.”
“Good,” Jiang Huai nodded gently.
Luo Yueguan’s lips curved upward slightly. “What, reluctant?”
Jiang Huai was silent for a moment, still not knowing what to say. He simply picked up his pruning shears and continued to trim the flower branches, ignoring Luo Yueguan. Luo Yueguan leisurely toured his garden. There were so many flowers planted, including many precious spirit flowers. She couldn’t help but sigh softly, “It seems you really like flowers.”
“Master likes them.”
“To like a flower, you don’t necessarily have to pick it,” Luo Yueguan said playfully, gazing at Jiang Huai’s profile. Although he tried hard to conceal it, a hint of disappointment in his eyebrows was subtly revealed.
“Mm,” Jiang Huai nodded gently.
“You look like you’re about to cry?”
“How could I,” Jiang Huai pouted. However, Luo Yueguan unyieldingly jumped in front of him, her eyes fixated on him, as if thoroughly amused. A nameless irritation arose in Jiang Huai’s heart. Just as he was about to turn and walk away, Luo Yueguan took another step forward and then hugged him.
“What are you doing!”
Before Jiang Huai could resist, Luo Yueguan reached out and pressed the back of his head, forcing his cheek into her full, snow-white chest. Even through the fabric, Jiang Huai felt a soft, warm touch. He was somewhat suffocated, while Luo Yueguan laughed heartily.
“Alright, alright, a hug to comfort you?”
Jiang Huai struggled for a long time before finally lifting his head. Looking into Luo Yueguan’s smirking eyes, he angrily lowered his head and bumped his forehead against Luo Yueguan’s chest again. Luo Yueguan didn’t get angry; she simply reached out and lightly patted his back, like coaxing a child.
“Your Master is stubborn, proud, and cares too much about her pride. I’ve known her for so long, I’ve never seen any man make her glance at him more than once. Initially, every man who pursued her was full of confidence, believing they would be the special one, the destined one for Chu Xianning. In the end, they all left in disappointment.”
“So you’re advising me to cut my losses now?”
“Oh, finally admitting it?” Luo Yueguan suddenly reached out and pinched Jiang Huai’s face. “Is there something wrong with my Qingyu?”
“No.”
“So, you men are all greedy dogs.”
“You can scold just me. Who told you all men are the same?”
“They all seem the same to me, anyway.”
Jiang Huai was too lazy to argue with her. He broke free from her embrace, grabbed her slender wrist, and released her hand from his face. “What do you want to eat for lunch?”
“Something very, very spicy.”
“Okay.”
…
Lunchtime.
Chu Xianning looked at the spicy crab, the explosive spicy duck wings, the dry pot potatoes with lots of chili, and the hand-shredded chicken drizzled with red oil on the table. She didn’t know where to start.
She disliked spicy food.
Her own disciple had gone to Qingxuan Sect, and his culinary tastes had even started to align with Luo Yueguan’s. He had even opened acupoints for Luo Yueguan. Chu Xianning clearly remembered Jiang Huai saying that opening acupoints required undressing and soaking the entire body with medicinal liquid… That shameless woman, Luo Yueguan!
“I’m not hungry,” Chu Xianning put down her chopsticks, stood up, and went to the pavilion.
While Chu Xianning had no appetite, Luo Yueguan’s was wide open. She ate heartily with her chopsticks, loving every dish. Jiang Huai sat opposite her, eating his lunch expressionlessly. He heard Luo Yueguan say, “Hmph hmph, you’re good at appeasing your future mother-in-law. Your wedding with Qingyu is at the end of the year. After you get married, would you like to move to Qingxuan Sect for a while?”
“Sure,” Jiang Huai replied expressionlessly.
In the pavilion, Chu Xianning’s chest suddenly felt tight, her breathing momentarily faltering, as if she couldn’t get enough air.
…
“Why aren’t you leaving yet?” Chu Xianning glanced askance at Luo Yueguan in the pavilion, her intention to see her off as clear as can be.
“I’m too full to ride my sword. I’ll have dinner again before I leave.” Luo Yueguan leaned back lazily in her chair, looked at the chessboard on the table, and smiled at Chu Xianning. “Want to play a game?”
“You can’t beat me.”
“How do you know if you don’t try? Maybe my chess skills have improved again.” Luo Yueguan set up the pieces. Without waiting for Chu Xianning’s agreement, she made a move. Chu Xianning, expressionless, picked up a piece and began to play against Luo Yueguan.
Luo Yueguan’s chess skills were indeed inferior to Chu Xianning’s, and she was defeated within the time it takes two incense sticks to burn.
“Another round,” Luo Yueguan seemed somewhat unconvinced.
Chu Xianning remained expressionless, though a slight curve of a smile seemed to appear at the corner of her lips. Unfortunately, it was a cold smile.
this time, she only took the time it takes one incense stick to burn to defeat Luo Yueguan. Luo Yueguan’s lips pouted slightly, a little annoyed. Seeing Jiang Huai sitting under the eaves, engrossed in an old alchemy book, she called out, “Jiang Huai, come play a game against your Master for me.”
Jiang Huai reluctantly put away his old scrolls and walked to Luo Yueguan’s side. Chu Xianning glanced at Luo Yueguan. “Do you think calling him here will help?”
“Your chess skills are only good enough to bully me. What’s there to be proud of?” Luo Yueguan sat up straight, patted her thigh. “Come, sit on Auntie Luo’s lap and play against her.”
Jiang Huai glared at her. This woman had also found amusement in teasing Jiang Huai when she had nothing else to do in the courtyard. Luo Yueguan shifted over, leaving space on the bench for Jiang Huai. Jiang Huai sat beside her, hesitated for a moment, and then murmured, “I can’t beat her either.”
“Just pretend. Before, Cen Lu from my Qingxuan Sect could last for two incense sticks against Ziyuan, but she couldn’t even last for one incense stick against you.”
Jiang Huai was speechless for a moment and turned his gaze to the chessboard.
He played a serious game against Chu Xianning, but in the end, he lost.
The corners of Chu Xianning’s lips curved upward, and the small resentment in her heart seemed to dissipate a bit.
Luo Yueguan was right next to Jiang Huai, having high hopes for him. Seeing him crushed by Chu Xianning, she felt a little annoyed. Her body was almost pressing against Jiang Huai, and her delicate pink lips whispered into Jiang Huai’s ear, “You only know how to please your Master. In the future, I will be your mother-in-law. Shouldn’t you be trying to please your mother-in-law?”
Jiang Huai remained unmoved. “I can’t beat her, so I can’t beat her.”
But Luo Yueguan lowered her voice, drawing even closer, and whispered something else in Jiang Huai’s ear. Jiang Huai was stunned for a moment and looked back at Luo Yueguan. “Can’t you think of something better?”
“Just tell me if you want to or not?”
Jiang Huai was speechless for a moment. He reset the chessboard pieces and looked at Chu Xianning. “Shall we play another game?”
Chu Xianning didn’t ask what Luo Yueguan and Jiang Huai had said, but a sense of inexplicable unease arose in her heart. In this game, Jiang Huai was serious.
Actually, he hadn’t deliberately gone easy on Chu Xianning before; he just couldn’t beat her. He had never cheated. But this time… he cheated.
So, in less than the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, Chu Xianning lost.
It was an almost one-sided victory for Jiang Huai.
Chu Xianning stood up and looked at Jiang Huai indifferently. “You play with her slowly. I’m going to rest.”
With that, she stood up and left the pavilion, returning to her room.
…
“Hmph?” Luo Yueguan sat opposite Jiang Huai. Her small feet under the table playfully rubbed against Jiang Huai’s calf, her smile full of amusement. “Your Master is angry.”
“…” Jiang Huai was speechless.
“I’ll teach Qingyu well when I get back… how to serve you with her feet.” Luo Yueguan laughed even more heartily. She didn’t blush at all when saying such things, but Jiang Huai began to feel inexplicably embarrassed.
He had fallen for it inadvertently.
He wasn’t actually interested in this… it was mainly that he inexplicably wanted to spite Chu Xianning. Even though he knew that spite wouldn’t solve anything, he still wanted to spite her.
Luo Yueguan had taken off her shoes at some point. Her fair, tender feet were wearing white socks. Her toes rubbed against Jiang Huai’s calf. “What? You don’t trust me?”
“I’m just curious. Aren’t you known for being pure and chaste, untainted? How do you seem to know everything?”
“I’ve read ‘erotic paintings’. I just haven’t practiced… Want to practice on you first before I teach Qingyu?” Luo Yueguan continued, her small feet under the table becoming even more mischievous, reaching towards Jiang Huai’s thighs. Jiang Huai gently grasped her snow-white ankle, but in the next second, Luo Yueguan’s expression turned extremely cold. “Let go. Don’t take advantage of me.”
Jiang Huai looked at her cold and disgusted gaze.
This woman was too much!
