Chapter 21 The Frozen Dungeon
Following the steps downwards, besides the severe cold, there was also a decaying and fishy smell.
Even though Lonis had never been here, not even when she was the hero, she could recognize what this place was for.
A dungeon.
That decaying smell was a unique aroma produced by the fermentation of blood over time.
As far as the eye could see, there were heavy metal doors and bars. Already rusted metal shackles hung on the walls, as if threatening passersby, reflecting the light of the torch.
(So, so scary…)
Although Lonis pretended to be calm inside, her body couldn’t help but tremble.
These torture devices were not like the small toys on her body, which were mainly designed to please girls. These were real torture devices, not only very heavy but also capable of piercing a human body.
Lonis estimated that if she wore a full set of torture devices, she wouldn’t even be able to take a step.
…
In this terrifying atmosphere, Elus’s back felt exceptionally secure.
If Lonis were a timid girl, she probably would have gone up to her long ago.
But Lonis, as a hero, naturally had the dignity of a hero. She held her head high and walked behind Elus, pretending to be brave.
…
But this composure soon disappeared without a trace.
Because from the darkness…
A humanoid monster unexpectedly leaped out!
Its skin was as if it had been burned, completely blackened. Its face was hidden under messy hair, and it crawled on all fours like a wild person.
However…
Just one strike.
Elus didn’t even dodge. This pitch-black humanoid monster was already cut in half.
Pitch-black blood gushed out from the wound, but not a drop splashed onto the black-haired girl – Elus’s swordsmanship was very skillful, being fast while not wasting any excess strength.
…
The girl in black simply stared at the black-ash man’s figure and sighed softly:
“Is it still alive… No, judging by the blood, it should be dead. Then, it must be the work of the Fallen Demon Race again.”
“Eh, Fallen Demon Race?”
“Hmph, it’s similar to the Puppet Demon before, nothing to worry about.”
“Wuwu!”
Although she said it was nothing to worry about, Lonis’s heart began to pound.
There were simply too many monsters in this world… and these monsters were not like the models in games, where you could clearly see their skeletons and even the stench of their death throes.
…
But perhaps sensing Lonis’s inner fear?
Elus actually smiled slightly and commanded:
“Lonis, go search this corpse and see if there’s anything useful.”
“Corpse?”
“Your clothes are stain-resistant, don’t make me say it a second time.”
“Wuwu…”
…
Lonis finally understood the purpose of the long gloves she was wearing.
Even when searching disgusting corpses, it wouldn’t let that blood seep into her fingernails… but the overwhelming stench was unavoidable.
Lonis could only hold her breath as much as possible and then flip the black-ash man over.
The pitch-black muscles seemed to be soaked in black blood, looking like rotting meat, which was nauseating.
There was nothing special on the corpse.
Lonis just found a note, and when she opened it.
“Sorry, I betrayed my country.
But isn’t it all because Princess no longer calms the anger of the Fiery Abyss?
I am also struggling, I also want everything to be better!!!
But it’s too late to say all this.
General Kru has completely become a fallen puppet, we are already…”
“Irredeemable.”
…
…
Seeing that Lonis hadn’t moved for a long time, Elus frowned.
“Did you find something?”
“A note…”
“A note, quickly let me see!”
“Ah, eh!”
Just as Lonis was about to hand over the note, the moment she raised it… it was blown away by the wind and instantly disintegrated!
“You idiot, can’t even protect a piece of paper?”
“Sorry!”
…
Elus’s beautiful eyebrows furrowed, as if she wanted to teach Lonis a lesson!
However… she seemed to remember something and finally didn’t take action:
“Is there anything else?”
“No, nothing…”
“Hmph, as expected, it’s the work of demons… Resurrection by borrowing a corpse? What a vile spell.”
“Elus?”
“Keep following me, just four meters this time.”
…
…
Going down all the way, as they delved deeper into the dungeon, Lonis actually found that the surroundings were getting warmer!
But on second thought, this was also understandable: cellars were warm in winter and cool in summer, and the thick mantle prevented heat from escaping.
…
Along the way, Elus and Lonis encountered more than ten black-ash men.
Each of them lunged out from the shadows, exuding a stench like a corpse… but without exception, they were all killed by Elus.
One strike each, clean and neat.
However, after the first one, Elus did not ask Lonis to search the corpses anymore.
…
She just went down, all the way down.
The pitch-black high heels echoed an unquestionable sound in the deep dungeon, as if telling those terrifying monsters: an invincible Valkyrie has arrived, come out and die quickly!
And although the light was dim, Lonis found that many black-ash men wore metal shackles.
Some even wore eye patches, some had their bodies pierced by metal, and some had half their heads missing… like the demons in horror films, it was very unsettling.
…
Lonis didn’t know where Elus was going, but she just followed her figure and continued to advance.
Finally,
They seemed to have reached the lowest level of the dungeon.
And at this time, the air around them also became hotter. It was a bit like a sauna. Perhaps the heat accelerated the growth of microorganisms, and the floor here was covered with pitch-black stains, with a pungent stench concentrated in the air, like a cesspool.
As soon as Lonis arrived, she couldn’t help but cover her nose and mouth.
Elus, however, observed the surroundings as if nothing had happened, and after a while, she nodded:
“Hmm, it’s here… Kru is indeed still alive.”
“Kru?”
“Although I think it would be safe to lock you in one of the cages… but you masochist probably wouldn’t want to stand alone in the darkness, would you?”
“Mm…”
At this point, Lonis couldn’t care about her dignity anymore and quickly nodded like a little girl.
She knew nothing about this pitch-black dungeon and was powerless. Who knew what would happen if she left Elus?
…
“Alright, but don’t vomit when I kill Kru later.”
“Eh?”
“Because I will kill him in the most brutal way possible, or… it would be too easy for him?”
A fierce glint flashed in Elus’s pupils, and her right hand, gripping the black sword, was clenched tightly.
…
