Chapter 17: This Wonderful Suffocating Feeling
After the rhino was down, Lin Ye clapped his hands and stood up from the ground. He stretched his arms, which felt a little numb from the impact.
Lin Ye thought that after being strengthened by the Strength Pill, he should have been able to stop the rhino easily. However, he had underestimated the beast’s survival instinct that erupted in desperate situations. Nevertheless, despite being a bit of a struggle, it was a close call with no serious harm.

Upon hearing Lin Ye’s words, Xing looked down in confusion. She saw the spot where Lin Ye’s face had been. Xing’s face instantly turned bright red. She then raised her hand to her chest, a blissful smile slowly appearing on her face.
“What’s happening to me? Why is that feeling back? Why am I so happy just from hugging Lin Ye?” Xing felt her heart begin to race again. She then looked up at Lin Ye again, realizing that just looking at him made her incredibly happy. She didn’t understand what this feeling meant, but she found herself thinking about Lin Ye from time to time. When she slept at night, Lin Ye was the last image in her mind before she fell asleep.
While Xing was lost in thought, the other Beast-eared Girls saw that the rhino had fallen to the ground and was dead. They all looked at Lin Ye in shock. They had just seen Lin Ye easily lift the rhino high into the air and slam it to the ground.
“Ye, how did you do that? How are you so strong?” two Raccoon-eared Girls exclaimed, their eyes wide as they looked at the rhino on the ground.
Meanwhile, a Fox-eared Girl walked timidly towards Lin Ye, her head lowered. Her fluffy white tail drooped sadly. She gently tugged Lin Ye’s hand and said tearfully, “Ye, I’m sorry. I couldn’t stop the rhino, and I almost got you injured.”
Lin Ye looked at the Fox-eared Girl, who was crying with her head down beside him, and his heart melted. He immediately comforted her, “It’s okay, it’s okay. See? I’m not hurt. We even killed the rhino. Don’t cry.”
Unexpectedly, Lin Ye’s words had the opposite effect. Hearing him, the Fox-eared Girl cried even harder, sobbing uncontrollably. Seeing this, Lin Ye was at a loss for what to do. Although he had countless virtual wives before, they were nothing like this. Facing this situation for the first time, Lin Ye had no idea how to handle it.
He looked up at the other Beast-eared Girls for help. To his surprise, he saw Shi and the twin Raccoon-eared Girls looking at him with smiles. Seeing their amused expressions, Lin Ye helplessly gestured with his eyes, asking for guidance.
Shi, noticing Lin Ye’s predicament, said with a smile, “Susu has always been like that. The more you comfort her, the more she feels guilty. You just need to let her compensate you.”
Hearing Shi, Lin Ye finally understood why Susu’s crying had intensified after his comfort. Lin Ye turned back, thought for a moment, and then spoke to the Fox-eared Girl again. “Your name is Susu, right? Since you feel you owe me, I’ll punish you by making you barbecue for me when we get back.”
Looking at the pitiful Fox-eared Girl, Lin Ye couldn’t bring himself to truly punish her. Although a wicked thought had briefly crossed his mind, he immediately suppressed it.
“Okay!” Susu nodded and softly agreed. After a few more sobs, she finally stopped crying. Lin Ye, seeing her red eyes, tenderly wiped away her tears.
After comforting Susu, Lin Ye approached Xing, who was lost in thought. “Hunting like this is too dangerous. One mistake and someone could get injured.” Lin Ye felt that their hunting method was like dancing on the edge of a knife, especially with their rudimentary equipment.
Xing had been watching Lin Ye. When she saw him walk towards her, she momentarily forgot to breathe, just staring at him blankly. “But we’ve always hunted like this. And if we don’t hunt large prey, there isn’t enough food for everyone in the tribe,” Xing finally replied after a moment of thought.
“I have a method that allows you to catch them without fighting them directly. Do you want to know?” Lin Ye said with a smile, watching Xing’s reaction.
“Really? What method? Tell me quickly!” Xing’s expression shifted from confusion to surprise.
But before Lin Ye could speak, Xing suddenly heard something and her face changed dramatically. She then put a finger to her lips, signaling Lin Ye to be quiet. Lin Ye looked at her in confusion, wondering why she had suddenly become so nervous. The other Cat-eared Girls also seemed to have heard something. They all fell silent and looked in one direction.
