Chapter 25: Let’s Wash Together
Lin Ye assigned everyone their tasks, then gathered the necessary tools. The entire tribe’s Beast-eared Girls departed in a grand procession, leaving only a few sick members behind to guard the tribe.
Afterwards, they arrived at the river. Upstream, Lin Ye had discovered a large area of hollow trees stretching for several miles. Using a Bear Claw, Lin Ye selected a hollow tree of suitable thickness. He then used the Bear Claw to vigorously carve a deep groove around the base of the hollow tree. He then proceeded to the top of the hollow tree, cutting off the sealed end. Looking through the hollow trunk, he could see the light on the other side directly through the wood. Lin Ye nodded in satisfaction. He then handed the Bear Claw to one of the Beast-eared Girls, instructing them to cut down hollow trees of similar thickness here. The Beast-eared Girls, holding the Bear Claws, immediately set to work with enthusiasm.
Lin Ye carried the hollow tree he had just cut down to the riverbank. Walking upstream along the river for a while, he found a very suitable place to lay the pipe. It happened to be at a bend in the river where the current was strong and wild beasts wouldn’t come to drink. After measuring the hollow tree and selecting the spot for the water pipe, he beckoned Sakura over.
Sakura was adorned with various tools hanging from her hands, body, and neck, resembling a mobile tool cart. Lin Ye took the horn of the previous one-horned donkey from Sakura and began to dig a trench along the riverbank. He stopped after digging more than a meter deep and placed the hollow tree water pipe inside.
The Beast-eared Girls looked at Lin Ye with doubt as he placed the hollow tree water pipe. Then, to their shock, they saw water flowing from the other end of the hollow tree. Seeing the water flow, Lin Ye nodded in satisfaction. Then, a few more Beast-eared Girls emerged and began to continue digging along the trench Lin Ye had dug.
However, Lin Ye instructed that the trench didn’t need to be so deep further back; it only needed to be deep at the riverbank. The rest of the trench only needed to be as deep as a forearm. The Beast-eared Girls, equipped with various tools, began to dig, murmuring to themselves, “Water is really flowing from the hollow tree, this is amazing.” “How did Ye know this method? He’s so powerful.”
Sections of hollow tree water pipes were continuously delivered. One end of each delivered hollow tree section had already been trimmed to be thinner. Lin Ye took the thinned end and forcefully pushed it into the tail of another hollow tree section. The two hollow trees were then joined together. This connection would surely leak, but Lin Ye wasn’t aiming for a perfect water pipe. Being able to transport water back to the tribe was enough. Limited by tools and materials here, achieving this much was already excellent.
Just like this, section by section, the water pipes were connected and placed into the freshly dug trench. Lin Ye was responsible for connecting each section of the hollow tree water pipe, as his great strength would prevent the connected pipes from separating. Several Beast-eared Girls followed behind Lin Ye. Every time a section of hollow tree was placed in the trench, they would push the soil back into the trench, burying the water pipe. This would protect it from being damaged if any beasts walked over it. Moreover, since these water pipes were made of wood, if exposed to the air and daily sun, they would deteriorate very quickly.
After Sakura handed over all her tools to everyone, she became responsible for relaying information and checking if the direction of the pipeline had deviated from the tribe’s camp. The Beast-eared Girls watched the endless stream of water flowing through the connected hollow tree water pipes, and by now, they finally understood what Lin Ye had meant. Their work became more skilled, and the pipeline was laid faster and faster.
Unconsciously, the sun in the sky had moved from the east to the west. The pipeline was already very close to the camp. Everyone was covered in mud, but looking at the water continuously flowing from the pipeline, the smiles on their faces never diminished.
Finally, with the connection of the last pipe section, the water pipe reached the edge of the tribal camp. The Beast-eared Girls, looking at the clear water flowing continuously from the pipe, couldn’t help but hug each other and cheer. “We succeeded! We really brought water back to the tribe!” “That’s great, we don’t have to carry wooden buckets to fetch water anymore!” “This is amazing, how did Ye think of this method? Seeing the happy Beast-eared Girls, Lin Ye’s face also revealed a joyful smile. Watching his plan unfold smoothly step by step as he had envisioned, Lin Ye felt a touch of emotion. “Ye, Ye, you’re so amazing, we really brought water to the tribe, Sakura doesn’t have to carry water buckets anymore.” Sakura ran over and hugged Lin Ye’s arm, smiling brilliantly.
Lin Ye looked at the Cat-eared Girl, who had turned into a little mud creature, and couldn’t help but laugh heartily. Then, Lin Ye looked at the hollow tree water pipe on the ground, from which water was gushing out. A mischievous smile suddenly appeared on his lips.
Lin Ye quietly bent down and picked up the hollow tree water pipe from the ground. By blocking half of it with his hand, the water pressure became incredibly strong. Lin Ye suddenly aimed the water pipe at the Beast-eared Girls above them. The water sprayed from the pipe directly rained down on the Beast-eared Girls. “Hahahahaha! Let’s all have a bath together!” As water sprayed from the pipe in Lin Ye’s hands, he shouted loudly.
