Chapter 8: My First Kiss… Gone Just Like That?
The Beast-eared Girls were celebrating joyfully. Only Xing, who had come to Lin Ye’s side, picked up the tools for making fire by drilling wood and began to study them on the ground. Lin Ye saw this and also crouched down, teaching Xing hand-in-hand.
The tinder quickly burned out. The fire gradually died down. At this time, the sky had completely darkened. After cheering for a while, the Beast-eared Girls also returned to their tents. In the primitive society’s nights, there were no entertainment activities; as soon as it got dark, everyone went into their tents to sleep.
Just then, Sakura came to Lin Ye’s side and spoke to him. “Ye, after the Hunting Team returns, you can’t stay in the cave anymore. That’s where the Hunting Team rests.”
Upon hearing this, Lin Ye was about to ask where he would sleep tonight, as he couldn’t just sleep on the ground like this. Sakura continued, “Ye, can you sleep with Sakura tonight? Sakura likes the smell on Ye. Ye smells so good, and sleeping while holding Ye is so fragrant and wonderful.”
After hearing Sakura’s words, Lin Ye looked at Sakura in surprise and then asked, “When did you ever sleep holding me?”
“It was the day we found you by the river. You were completely soaked and shivering from the cold, so Sakura held you and slept together.”
Lin Ye was very moved upon hearing this, and his gaze became gentle. He reached out and indulgently stroked Sakura’s head, nodding with a smile. Then, Lin Ye was led by Sakura to her tent.
Sakura’s tent was only about half a meter high. The space inside was less than five square meters. The ground was covered with a layer of dry grass, on top of which was a gray beast skin, which served as the sleeping area. Besides these things, a pile of purplish-red berries were scattered on the ground in the corner of the tent. Sakura’s footprints were still clearly visible on the dirt floor, with all five toes distinct.
After Lin Ye entered the tent, because it was only half a meter high, he could only sit on the beast skin. Sakura brought in another pile of dry grass from outside and spread it beside the beast skin. With the two piles of dry grass laid out, there was basically no excess space left in Sakura’s tent.
Lin Ye looked at Sakura tidying the dry grass and suddenly felt a little thirsty. It was only then that he remembered he hadn’t drunk any water all day. So, looking at Sakura, he asked, “Sakura, does the tribe have water? I want to drink some water.”
Hearing Lin Ye’s words, Sakura turned her head and nodded, saying, “The water is in the cave. Wait a moment, Ye, Sakura will get it for you.” After saying that, Sakura bent over and walked out of the tent, running towards the cave.
After Sakura left, Lin Ye lay down, staring at the tent’s ceiling, feeling a bit bored. Lin Ye sighed helplessly, finding himself in this primitive society. No electricity, no internet, nothing. However, thinking that he was surrounded by beautiful Beast-eared Girls, Lin Ye felt a sliver of solace. A smile reappeared on his face. Considering that he was the only man in this tribe, Lin Ye couldn’t help but begin to fantasize about his happy future.
After a while, Sakura walked back in, holding a piece of wood that looked like bamboo, hollow inside, filled with water. “Ye, the water is here, it’s here!” Sakura carefully walked in with the wooden container in both hands and handed the water to Lin Ye. It was completely dark outside now. Lin Ye could only vaguely see Sakura’s silhouette by the moonlight.
Lin Ye took the water Sakura brought back and took a sip. However, as soon as the water entered his mouth, Lin Ye sensed a strong, strange smell. He immediately spat the water out onto the ground. “Ye, what’s wrong?” Sakura asked, concerned, after hearing him spit.
“Where did you get this water from? It smells so bad.” Lin Ye spat out all the water in his mouth and asked Sakura with a frown. Upon hearing Lin Ye’s words, Sakura’s cat ears drooped sadly, and her tail went limp on the ground. Her big eyes blinked pitifully as she looked at Lin Ye. “I got it from the river, and it’s all stored in the cave. I’ve been feeding you this water for the past two days.”
Lin Ye didn’t intend to blame Sakura. Seeing her pouting sadly, he couldn’t help but smile indulgently, stroking her head as he said, “It’s fine, I’m just not used to it. I’m not mad at you.” After being petted by Lin Ye, Sakura’s ears slowly perked up again, and her tail began to sway behind her.
Seeing that Sakura’s mood was improving, Lin Ye suddenly thought of something. He glanced at the large wooden container holding water beside them and curiously asked, “Sakura, when I was unconscious before, how did you give me water?”
After Lin Ye finished speaking, Sakura slightly raised her head, looked at Lin Ye’s lips, swallowed a mouthful of saliva, and then said, “At first, Sakura used a hollow tree to hold water and feed it to Ye, but Ye couldn’t drink a drop. Sakura really likes feeding Ye water, but it’s a long way to go to the river to get water, so Sakura could only feed Ye water three times a day.”
