Chapter 17: Maid’s Heartfelt Omurice
Evelia’s maid plan had been in effect for an unknown number of days. Every day, she would stay close to Alman under the pretext of “I am your personal maid,” diligently delivering meals to him three times a day. However, after tasting that hellish medicine soup for stomach issues herself, she no longer sent that abominable concoction to Alman.
“Master, you must eat obediently today too♡”
Today, she was still like this. That light novel seemed to have provided her with a good deal of “learning.” Her actions and lines tried to emulate that cute maid from the novel, but her expression and tone remained unchanged; she still spoke sweetly with a cold demeanor and a stiff voice.
“……”
Alman was also pondering what was going on with this girl.
It was as if her personality had suddenly changed. There had been a clear distance between them when they first met, and after just a few days, how had she turned into this?
Yet, her character seemed altered yet unaltered; at least her poker face remained as stiff as a brick.
“Master, today it’s golden omurice—made by me~”
Evelia lifted the lid of the dish, revealing a plate of standard maid’s heartfelt omurice. Just like in every themed restaurant, the golden egg skin had a heart drawn with tomato sauce.
Evelia seemed to try to draw an expression on it, but since Alman didn’t have a big appetite, she couldn’t write much on that piece of omurice. Therefore, most of her drawings were concentrated on the plate, but the excess art turned into a mess, giving the impression that the omurice was drowning in a pool of sauce.
Is this tomato sauce and soup for omurice…?
Alman looked up at Evelia, his expression puzzled.
“Did the omurice get hurt? It’s bleeding so much.”
Alman awkwardly grasped the spoon, swallowing not out of deliciousness but a bit of nervousness. Nevertheless, he couldn’t help but crack a cold joke.
“Master, don’t you want to try Evelia’s cooking?♡
“……” Alman hesitated and looked at Evelia, “I suppose I’m not hungry.”
Although he wasn’t frightened by the blood-red dish, it was nothing to someone like him who had eaten raw meat, but staring at the thick layer of tomato sauce, he could already imagine the taste in his mouth.
Of course, it was ten thousand times better than that stomach medication soup.
But he couldn’t keep eating such torturous food, right? He wasn’t fond of overly stimulating flavors, whether too sweet or too sour.
With a weak stomach, he didn’t want to ruin his taste buds. If he kept up with such stimulation, he might permanently lose his sense of taste.
“Master~~~”
Evelia elongated her tone. Analyzing it from the text, it should be the tender voice of a girl trying to act cute, but while Evelia’s voice was sweet, her stiff tone made it sound more like nails on a chalkboard to Alman.
“I worked hard to make this for you; can’t you take a bite?”
Evelia appeared to have seriously thought about how to express her feelings while saying this line because this phrase had appeared in the novel she read.
At that moment, the heroine of the novel was described as:
“She gently frowned, blinking her eyes in distress, a few specks of light appearing in her beautiful light-colored pupils, and in a dazed moment, it seemed like tears were swirling in her eyes, seeking his approval like a pitiful little bunny.”
However, on Evelia’s side, she could only grasp so much. After all, she hadn’t known how to cry for a long time, didn’t understand what it felt like to be wronged, and didn’t know why the cute bunny that tasted good could be pitiful. So, the only thing she comprehended was “frowning.”
The result of these words on her face was that Evelia “frowned,” looking at Alman with a displeased yet stern expression, almost like she was about to punch him in the face saying, “Eat it or not!”
This expression brought an inexplicable pressure to Alman.
Theoretically, Alman shouldn’t fear this kind of gaze; however, Evelia was a professional assassin, and when she furrowed her brows, her piercing eyes were like daggers. Even though Evelia’s intention was to act cute, Alman still sensed the murderous aura from her.
Since Evelia had been feeding him that stomach medicine soup, every time she approached, Alman wondered if today was the day she would actually kill him because she always managed to throw in something chaotic.
Even now, he was still contemplating whether she had poisoned him; his wariness toward Evelia had never eased.
“Master, are you really not eating?”
Her expression combined with her cold tone made Alman feel as if it were a death threat.
“Master, you…”
“Evel, open your mouth, ah—”
As Evelia was about to continue recalling novel content to try to move Alman, he decided to take initiative. He reached out, mimicking Evelia’s earlier feeding position, holding a spoon full of tomato sauce and omurice, one hand supporting the bottom of the spoon, and presented it to Evelia.
“……?”
Just like when he first witnessed Evelia’s feeding action, she reacted with a question mark this time too, but since she thought she was still in the cute stage, her frowning expression hadn’t faded. Now, her expression shifted from “I’m going to punch you” to “Are you out of your mind?”
Though that wasn’t quite her intention.
“Evel, I can’t eat all this, so could you help me out a bit, okay?”
Alman wore the same smile as usual, waiting for Evelia to respond. His acting skills seemed hundreds of times better than hers.
“……”
Evelia thought for a moment. She didn’t fully understand what Alman’s gesture meant. But since it was Alman’s request, she felt as a “cute maid who listens to her master,” she must comply with his wishes. Thus, she readily opened her mouth and swallowed the steaming omurice from Alman’s spoon.
That generous spoonful of tomato sauce’s sweet and sour taste made Evelia shiver. Seeing her expression, Alman understood just how sweet it was; however, since she dared to eat it, it proved that it wasn’t poisoned. He decided to let her finish it all.
“Here, Evel, there’s more, ah—”
“Mm…”
Taking advantage of Evelia’s cooperative attitude, Alman offered another spoonful. Although Evelia found it unbearably sweet and sour, she had never tasted such flavors before and found it quite novel. Therefore, she instinctively opened her mouth, taking one bite after another.
Meanwhile, Alman slowly moved toward her, guiding Evelia to change positions. Eventually, they switched places, with Evelia sitting in Alman’s chair, while he gently pushed the remaining half of the omurice in front of her.
“Evel, can you finish the rest by yourself?”
“Of course.” Evelia, not quite grasping what was happening, seriously took the spoon.
“Then let’s rely on our little Evel to finish it all, shall we?” Alman spoke like someone trying to coax a child.
“Mm, no problem, Master, leave it to me.” Evelia was successfully “deceived.”
“Alright, I have something to attend to, so Evelia, just take your time eating here.”
“Mm, okay, Master.”
With that, Alman smiled and gently closed the door, quickly escaping from Evelia, who was seriously eating the omurice.
While eating the omurice, the overwhelming tomato sauce made her shiver a few times from the sourness, yet she still obediently followed her “master’s” command, finishing the omurice and its sauce clean, looking rather pleased.
In the end, she exclaimed with a sense of accomplishment.
—Wow, I actually have a talent for cooking.
As for Alman, he walked straight to the kitchen, turning to the chefs inside and saying, “You must never let Evelia into the kitchen again.”
