Chapter 115 Sorcery Anomalies Hand and Selwin
Unlike the fourth solution of the universal formula, Leonart’s second solution could only deal with partial magic and rituals, such as disrupting the operation of a ritual or rendering a ritual ineffective. Besides that, it could also trigger certain trigger-type spells within a certain range.
The advantage of this ritual was its convenience. Li Wen could complete the setup with the tools at hand. The only problem was that this ritual was very likely to trigger some spells used for warning or alert, and it might also cause some unpredictable consequences.
Half an hour later, the snoring administrator was awakened by a loud noise. Upon waking, he stared blankly at everything before him.
In the vast library, all the bookshelves had fallen down in a strange state, and the books on them had all disappeared.
Li Wen was instantly freed from the teleportation state. Just as she regained her footing and before she could observe her surroundings, she heard a familiar voice.
“See, I told you she could do it.”
Li Wen looked towards the voice and saw Marymana smiling lightly.
Beside her was a young mage dressed in a particularly unusual manner. His clothes were less like clothing and more like a costume made of fabrics of various colors combined in a chaotic pattern. If not for the certification mark of the Magic Committee pinned to his chest, Li Wen would have assumed he was some performance artist or theater actor.
The mage’s expression did not seem very friendly, perhaps it was his natural disposition, Li Wen thought, as she didn’t know him.
“Come here, little Mephie.”
Marymana beckoned her. It was then that Li Wen realized she was standing in a closed transparent space. The surrounding walls were made of glass or a similar material, reminding Li Wen of a real-life phone booth. The size of this space could barely accommodate a High Mountain Race individual about three meters tall.
If one were any taller or fatter, they would either be forcefully compressed when teleported or their extra parts might disappear.
Li Wen, thinking about such a painful scenario, tried to push open the glass in front of her. This action was undoubtedly correct, and Li Wen successfully walked out of the “phone booth.”
“Are you done with your business?” Marymana affectionately grabbed Li Wen’s hand, acting as naturally as a true teacher.
Li Wen shook her head. She knew the other party was referring to her promotion to Stage Two, which was still a long way off.
“Then you must have encountered some difficulty.” Marymana could tell that this little girl was not the type who liked to get close to people, so she certainly wasn’t here to catch up. “Don’t worry, this is Selwin Lagovin, the temporary president of the Sorcery Anomalies Hand. Just hand over any trouble to him.”
Lagovin?
Li Wen raised an eyebrow. She had no idea that the Sorcery Anomalies Hand had such a connection with the Lagovin Family.
“He was kicked out by his family, so don’t mention it in front of him,” Marymana whispered this in front of Selwin. For a mage, this volume was not so low as to be inaudible.
“Greetings, Master Selwin.”
Li Wen nodded to the mage as a form of salutation. To be the president, even an acting one of the Sorcery Anomalies Hand, his strength was likely to be above Marymana’s.
But it didn’t matter, the stronger the better.
Selwin nodded. He had been remotely controlling his illusion to clean up the mess left by Li Wen’s ritual and had not been paying attention to this side.
With that thought, he said concisely.
“You are an excellent ritual mage.”
After Selwin finished speaking, he turned and left. Marymana grabbed Li Wen and followed.
Only then did Li Wen have the mood to consider where she was. It was indoors, and Li Wen couldn’t see any windows. Judging by the teleportation time and distance, she should be deep underground in the Mitreton College library.
The ceiling was illuminated by solidified magic light spheres. The surrounding decorations had the elegant and simple style of elven mages. Traces of magic circles and magic could be seen in some corners, which were probably some identification arrays. She couldn’t discern anything deeper.
Selwin led them to a spacious hall with many passages. A statue stood there, presumably of the founder of the Sorcery Anomalies Hand. Many people dressed as mages entered or left the hall through the passages, and they all bowed as they passed by Selwin and Marymana.
“The Sorcery Anomalies Hand currently has 327 members, of which 145 are magic apprentices. This is an enviable number.”
Marymana introduced Li Wen to the situation of the Sorcery Anomalies Hand Association.
Magic apprentice was a title indicating that they had not yet broken free from their mentor’s supervision to conduct magic study and research independently. In a magic association, magic apprentices were new members, and it would take them one to ten years at most to shed this identity.
For organizations like magic associations, the more new members the better, which was why Marymana said she envied them.
After all, compared to the Sorcery Anomalies Hand, which possessed the Mitreton College, the Ringing White Bird Association, which drifted everywhere throughout the year, did not have many opportunities to recruit fresh blood. Although there were not a few residents on the Floating Island and people or exotic races who traveled by taking advantage of the sky island, those who could ascend to the Floating Island were either Transcendent themselves or were born into families or forces of Transcendent, and could not be easily taken away.
“Miss Mephistopheles?”
Li Wen was startled. She turned back expressionlessly and saw Moria, who looked slightly surprised.
She remained silent for a moment, organized her thoughts, and said, “Didn’t you say you would wait for me at the Evangelical Grand Cathedral?”
Moria shook her head apologetically. “Lady Marymana said that you still had matters to attend to in Talanis and needed to stay for a few more days, so I stayed here a little longer to prevent Harik from feeling lonely.”
There was such a thing?
Li Wen glanced at Marymana and found that she was also looking over, her eyes full of deep meaning. Li Wen’s mind began to race, and she quickly understood: the clever mage must have seen that she was not very willing to meet with Moria, so she deliberately provided her with an alibi, but she did not expect Li Wen to run into the Sorcery Anomalies Hand.
This is troublesome now…
“So, Miss Mephistopheles, are you done with your business?” Moria asked.
“Kind of done,” Li Wen replied casually, “but there’s something more important…”
“Whatever it is, we can talk about it in the tea room,” Mage Selwin said at this moment, “After all, blocking here will affect others.”
