Chapter Forty: Flesh Creation
Seeing this, Moria frowned. He raised his hand, intending to cast a prayer for the dwarf, but forcibly restrained himself. Li Wen retreated a few steps. If she still had mana, she would definitely attack at this moment, as it was normal to sneak in some attacks when the enemy was transitioning.
The dwarf Jotes grabbed the half-shredded face skin and raised it to his mouth, wringing out the blood and drinking the liquid. Then, covering his bloody and disfigured face, his pained wail from his throat slowly turned into a roar, and finally devolved into a panting sound akin to a wild beast.
He removed his hands, and his dim, cloudy pupils contracted, becoming vertical pupils like those of a reptile. The flesh and blood of his face twitched continuously, and countless fine spikes, as if growing from his skull, covered the flesh and blood.
“Shedding skin and drinking blood… Be careful, he’s a believer of Blood Lust,” Moria warned.
Li Wen had expected this and was not surprised.
After finishing with the facial skin, Jotes continued to tear off his own skin, and with each peeling, with each bloody pain, his shriveled body would swell. By the time all his skin was stripped away, Jotes’s body, already taller than a human’s, had swollen to four to five meters.
His entire body was covered in rock or bone-like scales. Each heartbeat sounded like thunder, and each scale grew from the flesh and blood, thus being covered in scarlet.
His dim vertical pupils contracted, directly locking onto Li Wen. Jotes’s massive body instantly moved. Its speed was far beyond that of normal creatures. In Li Wen’s eyes, this monster was only a blur.
A bloody wind hit her face. Li Wen, holding the Transcendent’s Eyes, remained unmoved until, after a sound of metal collision, a figure flew out from near her.
Li Wen watched Moria fly out, filled with speechlessness. Was this the Eldest Son of the Holy See?
“Such wonderful power, such sweet fragrance… Let me drink all your blood, one by one, especially you, hypocritical knight.”
Jotes licked his claws, his gaze constantly sweeping between Moria and Li Wen. As for the other two Wild Mages, they were not worth mentioning.
“You still have other choices, Jotes. Not all suffering is predestined; it depends more on your choices. No matter what you’ve been through, it’s not too late to turn back now.”
The Knight of the Holy See stood up again. This time, he drew his Knight’s Sword and looked seriously at the dwarf.
“What do you know! What do you know!” Jotes roared, blood flowing in his pupils, every cell in his body howling, “It’s all humanity’s fault, it’s all your fault! And I will use your blood for my final purification!”
“Are these people all because of your death?” Moria looked at the corpses on the ground.
“They are merely a group of greedy individuals, just like you. I don’t need to say more. I only need to reveal the existence of this dungeon, and they will come to die on their own. You cannot defeat the Great Blood. It’s better to give up now than to struggle in pain.”
Moria ignored him. He prayed to his longsword, and scarlet flames, like blood, coiled around the blade.
“You are the one who should give up.”
Jotes was already impatient. He had originally intended to kill Li Wen and then deal with Moria slowly, but since this knight was so unappreciative, he had to deal with him first.
He felt the Great Blood flowing within him. They seemed to possess life, yearning for a nobler and more worthy sweetness.
“This is—Blood Curse!”
As if showing off, Jotes shouted the name of the spell. Crimson light shot out from his body, like sharp blades piercing towards Moria.
The Eldest Son of the Holy See remained unmoved, not even offering any resistance, letting the crimson light pierce his body.
Even with the Knight’s Armor blocking, these crimson lights still penetrated his body, and blood continuously flowed from the wounds, with no sign of relief.
One of the effects of the Blood Curse was to make wounds bleed continuously until death.
Seeing Moria hit, Jotes felt he had already won half the battle. This knight, though seemingly unfathomable, was arrogant to the bone, just like other humans. He didn’t realize that his spell was strengthened by the Great Blood, making its power several times stronger than an ordinary Blood Curse.
“All who sacrifice shall be granted a Boon.”
A clear candlelight burned in Moria’s hand, and the wounds on his body vanished like smoke from a candle.
“All who do evil shall be punished!”
The candlelight in his hand instantly flared, becoming the only sun in this dark underground.
Jotes felt a great threat. The Great Blood warned him frantically; if he didn’t dodge, he would surely die.
The dwarf panicked. He wanted to get away from the knight, but the light was already directed at him.
The dazzling light forced Li Wen to close her eyes. When she opened them again, the dwarf was no longer in her sight.
Dead?
Li Wen immediately dismissed the thought. She looked up and saw the dwarf hanging upside down from the ceiling.
The creature bared its monstrous mouth and swung its claws at the ceiling.
“Victory shall be mine!”
The immense force shattered the ceiling. Along with the crumbling debris, scarlet, blood-like liquid, and countless leftover corpses fell down, instantly engulfing everyone in a sea of blood.
Jotes stood in the center of the blood sea. Behind him was a huge, indescribable deformed monster.
It had no limbs, its body was a ball of scarlet flesh, and its entire body was covered in scales similar to those of the dwarf or other monsters. It had sixteen mouths, each with rows of sharp teeth, and scarlet liquid constantly overflowed from its mouths, emitting an unusually sweet fragrance.
Merely looking at it made the flesh and blood of one’s entire body feel like it was about to break free and merge with the monster.
Li Wen stood up again from the blood sea. She looked at the many corpses on the ground that even the blood sea could not conceal. Such a large number of corpses, perhaps all the adventurers who had met their demise were here.
Moria also saw the corpses. There was pity, regret, and self-blame in his eyes.
“Witness! This creation of the Great Blood!”
